Chapter 304: Everything starts to move
The sound of a knock on the door interrupted the growing tension in the spiritual space.
Strax, still with a possessive look, moved away from Ouroboros. "I'll be back later. We'll have much to do." He said, smiling, not giving her a chance to respond as he turned and left, feeling the instant shift in the atmosphere as the bond between them began to break, at least for now.
Reality called him now, but what he truly needed was to resolve the current issues to finally begin the plan he had been holding off for so many months... Reviving those Dragons in the physical world. Continue reading at empire
"Come in," Strax said, his voice now lighter and more distant, as if nothing unusual had happened. He tried to hide the intensity of the spiritual situation, though he knew something still lingered in the air.
The door opened softly, and Cassandra entered, her eyes scanning the scene with a look that mixed curiosity and something more. When she saw Strax alone, a subtle but astute smile appeared on her face. "Why are you here alone, Strax?" She asked, her voice soft but with a slight provocation.
Strax quickly composed himself, stepping away from Ouroboros and moving toward Cassandra. "Oh, just tidying up a few things. I knew you'd come looking for me soon, so I thought I'd get everything organized first." He tried to keep his tone casual, as if he hadn't just had a tense and charged conversation with the Dragoness in his spiritual space.
Cassandra furrowed her brow slightly, watching him closely, but her gaze was calculating, as if she were trying to assess what he was really up to. "Tidying up, huh?" She replied with a somewhat sarcastic tone, clearly not fully believing his explanation. But she didn't press further.
Strax, realizing that the situation was becoming uncomfortable, decided to change the subject quickly. "Anyway, I'm done here. Now I can focus on other... matters." He moved closer to Cassandra, trying to push away any thoughts or sensations that may have been evoked by his recent experience in the spiritual world.
Cassandra raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Other matters, huh? Well, I'm glad to see you have your priorities straight, Strax." She said, but she didn't seem very interested in whatever he was "tidying up." Instead, she moved a little closer, a mischievous smile forming on her lips. "I hope you haven't forgotten about me, darling. What do you have planned for us?"
Strax let out a low, soft laugh, the tension in him easing a bit due to the shift in topic. "Oh, of course I haven't forgotten about you. I was just... distracted with some things. But you're always in my plans."
Cassandra took a step closer, her smile becoming more suggestive. "I hope that plan involves more than just words, Strax."
The mood in the room shifted again, but now it was lighter and more seductive. Strax moved closer to Cassandra, his words flowing naturally. "You're quite mischievous... Is it because of Daniela?"
Cassandra didn't move, still watching him with an expectant gaze, but before the situation could intensify, Belatrix appeared in the doorway, her imposing presence interrupting the moment.
"What's going on here?" Belatrix asked, her eyes scanning the scene with interest and perhaps a touch of jealousy. She seemed curious, but also uncomfortable with the visible intimacy between Strax and Cassandra.
Strax sighed inwardly, already knowing that yet another of his wives had arrived to complicate things further. He was trying to avoid a jealousy battle, but it was clear it wouldn't be easy. With a somewhat forced smile, he stepped back slightly from Cassandra, trying to give space to Belatrix. "Nothing much, Belatrix. Just taking care of some things."
Belatrix didn't entirely buy the explanation. She entered with decisive steps, her confused expression slowly turning into something more suspicious. "I'm starting to see that 'taking care of things' for you involves a lot of interruptions," she said, her biting tone showing her irritation with the situation.
Strax gave a slight smile, his charm unshaken by attacks like these. "And they will always be good interruptions. I just can't afford to be lazy, can I?"
"Let's go, it's time," Belatrix said as she left the room...
"It looks like we'll have to leave our fun for another time, darling," Cassandra said, holding his arm and pressing it between her large breasts, "Come on, dinner's tonight." She said with a smile.
...
[Another Place]
The castle of the Vampire King, with its imposing Gothic architecture, seemed more like a fortress of shadows than a home. Its winding, cavernous corridors, illuminated only by flickering torches, emanated an aura of ancient power. With every silent step, the infiltrators felt the weight of the grandeur and the magical protection the castle exuded. The mission they had undertaken was not just dangerous; it was almost suicidal.
Serina, with her silver hair and cautious gaze, led the group. Her sharpened senses were constantly on alert, listening to the echoes of footsteps and murmurs that reverberated through the empty corridors. She had been through many castles and fortresses, but never anything as grand as Vlad, the Vampire King. There was something unusual about this place, as if the very essence of the castle was alive and watching them.
"Stick together. And stay silent," Serina whispered, her voice as low as the night wind. "If we're detected, there will be no escape."
Gregor, the burly man with a dark beard, adjusted his leather armor and made a confirming gesture. His posture was impassive, as always, but the tension could be felt in his shoulders. He knew the objective was clear: destroy the castle and shake the foundations of the vampire empire. But he also knew that the complexity of the plan made the risk even greater. "We can't underestimate this place," he murmured, more to himself than to the others. "These vampires are not like any other race we've faced."
"That's why we're here," replied Armand, his hood pulled back, revealing his calm and calculating face. He always seemed to be in total control, even in the most critical situations. "Let's move forward, and if luck is on our side, the Blood Crystal will give us the edge we need."
The group moved through the narrow passages, moving quickly and precisely, avoiding detection. The castle was immersed in an eerie stillness, but the dangers were often invisible. Gargoyles lurked in every corner, their petrified forms seemingly harmless, but their presence always unsettling.
Meanwhile, Alina, the tall woman in the black cloak, felt the magic of the place pulsing around them. Her golden eyes glowed with intensity as she used her purification ability to check the enchantments around them. "The magic here is stronger than I imagined," she said softly, with a serious expression. "We're surrounded by energy barriers that no one here can feel, but I can."
"That just makes our job harder," Serina said without hesitation. "But that's why we have you, Alina. Your magic is what will help us break these barriers."
"I know what I'm doing," Alina replied, already focusing on one of the stones that covered the wall. She touched the cold surface, and with an almost imperceptible motion, she began channeling her energy. A faint wave of golden light enveloped her hand, followed by a small, silent explosion. "Now it's a little easier," she said with a satisfied smile. "Let's move on."
The group advanced deeper into the castle, moving even more cautiously as they neared the main chamber where the Blood Crystal was kept. They knew this artifact was essential to the success of their mission. The Crystal, a mystical stone that glowed with an intense ruby light, had the power to break through the castle's magical defenses and open a path to the inner secret chambers where the Vampire King hid.
"We're getting close," Gregor murmured, adjusting the blade of his sword. "I can feel the tension in the air. Something's not right."
Armand looked at him, his expression calm as always. "Stay alert. The Crystal is only half the battle. We need to make sure we can use it before the vampires notice our presence."
For a moment, silence fell, interrupted only by the faint echoes of footsteps and the heavy breathing of each group member. They were nearing the room where the Blood Crystal was kept, and the atmosphere grew even more tense.
Serina stopped in front of a large iron door, her hands clenched into fists, her fingers tightening as if preparing for something. She looked at her allies and, with a subtle gesture, signaled for everyone to prepare. "This is where everything can go wrong."
"Let's get this over with," Gregor said, his voice thick with determination. He stepped forward and, with surprising strength, pushed open the iron door. The sound of metal moving echoed off the castle walls, and the group quickly entered the room.
The chamber was vast, high-ceilinged and lit by a strange red light that seemed to come from somewhere beyond the walls. In the center of the room, on an obsidian pedestal, sat the Blood Crystal. It glowed brightly, and a sense of pure, overwhelming power enveloped everyone in the room.
"We have to act quickly," Serina whispered, already approaching the pedestal. "Once the Crystal is activated, the castle will begin to react."
"I know," Alina replied, her eyes still glowing gold as she concentrated on a purification spell. "What we have to do now is make sure no one knows what we're doing here."
