"Before the Battle"

"So, it's an Upper Moon. And my wives weren't found. Kyogoku House… that's where Zenitsu was sent.

Let's call the three of them back," Tengen Uzui said, stroking his chin after hearing Aoki's report.

About ten minutes later, Tanjiro and Inosuke, having removed their disguises, arrived, but Zenitsu was absent.

"Aoki-senpai, Uzui-senpai, Shinobu-senpai, you're here too," Tanjiro said, bowing to each of them.

Aoki said, "Tanjiro, we know where the demon is—Kyogoku House, where Zenitsu infiltrated."

Tanjiro looked around, noticing Zenitsu's absence. "Zenitsu? He hasn't arrived yet?"

Aoki nodded. "That's why we suspect Zenitsu has been captured."

Tanjiro was taken aback. "Zenitsu's been captured? We need to rescue him!"

Aoki stopped Tanjiro. "In the Demon Slayer Corps, anyone who loses contact is considered dead.

You two stay here. The three of us will confront the demon. With three Hashira, we'll be fine."

"Remember, survival is victory."

The three figures vanished in a flash of light.

Tanjiro's expression darkened. "Are we too weak? That's why they left us behind."

Inosuke interrupted, "We're Kanoe rank now, fourth from the bottom."

He extended his hand, clenching it.

"Show rank!"

A large "Kanoe" character appeared on his hand—their current rank, seventh out of ten ranks in the Demon Slayer Corps, a significant improvement from the lowest, Mizunoto rank.

"This isn't the time for this," Tanjiro said. "After nightfall, I'll go to your location at Ogimoto House. Wait for me; it's dangerous to act alone."

Inosuke protested, grabbing Tanjiro's mouth. "Why?! I told you there's a demon at my place! Come now! You idiot!"

Earlier, Inosuke had sensed Daki at Ogimoto House, but it wasn't her main body, just one of her many forms scattered throughout the Yoshiwara. This explains why Inosuke survived.

They split up. Inosuke went to Ogimoto House, while Tanjiro returned to Tokito House.

At Tokito House, Koinatsu was chatting merrily with two women. After they left, Tanjiro jumped through the window.

"Koinatsu-san, I apologize for the intrusion. I'm leaving Tokito House. Could you please settle my meal expenses with the owner?" Tanjiro said.

"Little Tan, this attire…" Koinatsu was surprised by Tanjiro's male clothing and changed appearance.

Tanjiro explained, "I was disguised as a girl, but I'm actually a boy."

Koinatsu wasn't surprised. "Ah, I knew. I knew from the start. Your voice too."

"Eh?"

"I mean, I knew you were a boy from the beginning. I wondered what you were doing here…"

Tanjiro stood there dumbfounded, his eyes wide.

She knew from the start? He thought his disguise was convincing. He really wasn't good at lying.

"Something happened? You're worried about Suma, aren't you?" Koinatsu asked.

Tanjiro declared firmly, "Yes, of course. I will find the missing people and bring them back."

Koinatsu smiled radiantly. "Thank you. That puts my mind at ease. I'm leaving this district tomorrow."

"Really? That's wonderful!" Tanjiro exclaimed.

Koinatsu said, "I never thought someone would marry someone like me. I'm truly happy."

"That's why I worry about everyone here. Even if something suspicious happens, I can't investigate. I hope you don't disappear, little Tan. You're a kind child. Many girls will like you in the future."

Bowing deeply to Koinatsu, Tanjiro vanished in a flash of light.

After Tanjiro left, Koinatsu resumed her work, but a commotion suddenly erupted in the room.

"Did I drop something?" Koinatsu assumed it was Tanjiro. But turning, she saw the demonic, transformed Daki.

The kanji for "Upper Moon" and "Six" were etched on her body, revealing her identity: Upper Moon Six of the Twelve Kizuki.

Looking down at Koinatsu, Daki said, "Yes, I must eat you first, before I forget. After tonight, you won't be here anymore, Koinatsu." Daki licked her lips elegantly.

Terror flashed in Koinatsu's eyes. She tried to escape, but before she could stand, a lotus-patterned obi wrapped around her, binding her tightly.

"Breath of Devouring, Sixth Form: Demon Slayer Slash!"

A roar echoed from outside the room, followed by a sharp crimson wave of energy, aimed at Daki's neck.

The ceiling shattered as a figure leaped in, slicing through the obi binding Koinatsu with a Nichirin Blade and scooping her up in a princess carry.

The still-frightened Koinatsu glanced at her rescuer—a handsome young man.

It was Aoki.

Meanwhile, Tanjiro, having just left Koinatsu's room, heard a loud explosion behind him. Two familiar scents wafted towards him—and a third, unknown fragrance.

"What is that… slightly sweet smell?"

The next moment, he recognized the scent of a demon.

"It's a demon! There's a demon nearby!"
