Chapter 68: DSWS: Chapter 68
"Upper Moon Six—Daki"
The madam stared at the scattered coins, slowly picking them up. She couldn't manage a smile, as if the opportunity to spend the money had vanished.
After collecting every coin, she stood, her voice stiff. "Sir, this way, please."
Under the astonished gazes of Kyogoku House's staff, Aoki was led to the second floor.
In the dimly lit corridor, the madam stopped before a door and knocked gently. "Warabihime, a guest wishes to see you. I wonder if you might…"
Her voice trembled with fear. Aoki couldn't imagine the psychological impact Warabihime had on the staff.
A cold, seductive voice responded from within. "Oh? What kind of guest?"
The madam was about to praise Aoki, but he preempted her. "Honorable Warabihime, my name is Muzan Kibutsuji. I would be honored to meet you."
A commotion erupted from inside the room, sounding like things being knocked over.
Then, the previously closed door creaked open a crack.
"Madam, please return. Kyogoku House might get a little… noisy," Aoki said, waving the madam away. He pushed open the door and entered. Within a second, an unseen force slammed it shut.
The room was dark, the curtains drawn tight, blocking out all sunlight. Aoki activated his three-tomoe Sharingan, revealing the room's disarray. It was messier than a typical man's room, hardly befitting a top oiran.
Besides Aoki, another person was present: a strikingly beautiful woman, whose allure was almost overwhelming. The image of Shinobu Kocho flashed through his mind, snapping him back to focus.
Ding!
Daki:
Identity: Upper Moon Six of the Twelve Kizuki
Personality: Arrogant, loves beautiful things, intensely dislikes ugliness
Abilities: Blood Demon Art
Combat Power: 4782
Overall Assessment: S class
"Upper Moon Six, Daki. So that's it," Aoki thought. At that moment, two rats dropped from the ceiling, delivering his Nichirin Blade—pets trained by Tengen Uzui for reconnaissance.
Aoki spun the Nichirin Blade, his gaze fixed on the black-haired Daki, who sat in a chair, hand propping up her cheek, a seductive smile playing on her lips.
"So, esteemed Muzan-sama, you visited just two days ago. Why are you here again? Some problem you need help with? If it's physical, I might be able to assist you, oh~"
Ignoring Daki's provocation, Aoki instantly produced a kunai imbued with the Flying Thunder God technique and threw it at Daki's forehead with incredible speed.
Just as the kunai was about to strike, a patterned obi materialized out of nowhere, catching the kunai and crushing it with immense force.
"Fast reflexes. You must be one of the Demon Slayer Hashira. Impressive," Daki said, rising from her chair.
Numerous obis materialized around her, their sharpness and durability terrifying, even surpassing the spider threads of Lower Moon Five.
Without replying, Aoki threw another kunai, simultaneously charging towards her.
"Breath of Devouring, Fifth Form: Asura's Blood Blade!"
Crimson energy enveloped his Nichirin Blade, emitting a mournful wail as it slashed towards Daki's neck.
Even Daki's expression flickered slightly at the ferocity of the attack. Countless obis simultaneously sliced towards Aoki, leaving no room for error.
Just as the obis were about to strike, Aoki vanished and reappeared above Daki, his kunai in one hand, his Nichirin Blade descending relentlessly towards her neck.
Daki reacted instantly, raising her obis to defend herself.
Aoki's blade sliced through the obis, but by the time he'd severed them all, Daki had created an opening to counterattack.
However, just as Daki prepared to engage in a prolonged battle, Aoki vanished again. This time, he wasn't dodging; he had completely left the room and Kyogoku House.
Aoki's presence vanished entirely, leaving Daki surprised. Unfamiliar with the Flying Thunder God technique, she assumed his speed was simply beyond her comprehension.
If that were the case, killing her would be effortless. Why had he chosen to spare her?
Daki had killed seven Hashira. Aoki posed a far greater threat, making her wonder if she'd been a hair's breadth from death.
The thought of being killed filled Daki with intense reluctance, though fear wasn't the only reason.
The Upper Moons hadn't changed ranks in over a century. Her death would be unprecedented, a disgrace, and would deeply disappoint Muzan Kibutsuji.
The thought of Muzan Kibutsuji's disappointment caused Daki unbearable anguish.
She clutched her head, crouching on the floor, her face contorted with rage, veins bulging, her voice trembling.
"Brother… brother… I won't die! I won't! Muzan-sama… I can't disappoint Muzan-sama! Demon Slayers… all of you… die! I'll make Muzan-sama happy!"
