Demon Lord: Erotic Adventure in Another World

Chapter 556: Shy Princess, Source of the Madness

Vinea stood at the edge of her bed, various outfits and dresses hanging beside her and over the quilt. She remained silent, thinking to herself, while tapping her fingers against her leg and sighing.

"What would look best..."

She was unsure what to wear... It felt strange, something that had never happened before she came here. She had been a princess before, with servants who chose everything for her, but the excitement of meeting Asmodeus after a short time apart filled her with glee and the desire to shock him.

Though she knew his feelings, it made her heart flutter and gave her the courage to push forward.

Due to the large number of women, it was extremely rare to meet Asmodeus alone or with just one other person present; thus, this was like a godsend even though the situation was dangerous. Her uncle no longer himself but Mephisto, the fact that he knew about their plans and even targeted Simon...

Yet to Vinea, the biggest thing was surely meeting her beloved.

'I am foolish... he probably won't notice if I tie my hair in a braid or comb it differently.'

Ygrenne wore a maid outfit over her black chainmail armour, serving the princess as both her knight and maid. At the same time, Paul and Simon met with people to gather more information about the strange Miasma and the changes it was causing in everyone.

"What do you think, Ygrenne? Does this suit me?"

Vinea held up a dark red and black dress with frills from the hips down to the ankles, along with a sweetheart neckline.

"I believe you would look lovely in anything, your majesty... but if you wish for my opinion on what Sir Asmodeus would prefer, then perhaps..." Ygrenne held up a simple white dress with a slit at the bottom and a low-cut top that showed Vinea's cleavage. The design was elegant, yet sexy enough to draw attention to her more beautiful assets.

"Are you sure...? I feel embarrassed wearing something like this." She pouted.

"I am unsure what he will find attractive, but surely seeing your beautiful skin will please him."

The knight who accompanied her wasn't close to Vinea in the past. Still, after facing Mephisto and dealing with Vinea losing control, their bond became stronger, leading to Ygrenne serving and sleeping in the same room to protect the princess.

"The white looks nice with my tanned skin... you're probably right."

Vinea held up the dress to herself and looked in the mirror. She was a tall woman with long, brown hair and tanned skin, freckled, and her eyes were like pools of gold and silver, reflecting the light from outside.

Ygrenne nodded her head in agreement, "You look wonderful!"

"Enough lip service, help me change... He'll be here soon, and I don't want to delay too long!"

Excitement built up in her chest, no longer the heavy ache from before, but a feeling of weightlessness and calm. She wanted to show herself and hear his compliments. "Ah... please do this to my hair!"

Meanwhile, in a small tavern called 'The Old Dogs Bed', a group of men sat around a table drinking murky ale and chatting amongst themselves.

"I can't believe it's really you two... Paul, you look no different." A black haired male with a scruffy beard chuckled, drinking from his ale, leaving bubbles around his mouth.

"Well, has it been that long?" Simon asked.

"Hah? What are you talking about? We graduated over ten years ago, Simon!" Another male, with a light brown ponytail and a slim build, complained. "You both became knights, and we chose this road... hah, we shouldn't have been so stupid."

Paul waved to the barkeep, asking for another round. Then he looked at the complaining male, who appeared tired, with wrinkled eyes and scars on his arms and neck. "Well, you wanted to be free, right?"

"Yeah, but not like this..."

They sat in a booth at the back of the tavern, the sunlight streaming through the windows on either side of the room. "Heck, let's not talk about that... Hmmn, so why are you both here?"

Paul looked down at his ale before sipping and taking a breath.

"About that recent issue..."

The two men froze, looking at each other before turning back to Simon and Paul. "That...? Ahh... I'm sorry."

"It's fine," Simon said softly. "We are here to help."

A strange feeling spread throughout the group as they spoke; even though it had been years since they last saw each other, their bond remained strong, despite the hardships they faced.

"Can you help with something so bizarre... and dangerous?"

"Some Folk say it's a curse."

Simon sighed, rubbing the back of his neck with a grim expression.

"Do you know where the first infection occurred?" He asked quietly.

"Yeah... the first case was reported at the docks; some fishermen who had been drinking at a tavern got into a fight. Then, as a guard tried to break it up, the man's eyes became strange... like a possessed devil, and he bit the guard's throat." The slim male spoke with a shaky voice, as if he were there in person... "blood everywhere, and the guy was acting like he had gone insane!"

"It's true, those who are infected become insane, and their strength and vitality skyrocket, but after some time it fades and they collapse from exhaustion..." The bearded male spoke this time.

"What happened after that?" Simon asked while squeezing a sweet fruit into his beer, which changed it from murky yellow to deep red.

"You still prefer sweet ale? Simon, you're childish tongue hasn't changed. Hah, anyway, after that, the guy who died was sent to the church of the holy light, where he was cremated... but rumours spread that the same thing happened several times. There have now been several cases across the city. It's even spread to the surrounding villages..."

The slim adventurer sighed and put his hand on the table, clenching it tightly before looking up towards the sunlight.

"Adventurers have started to suffer. At first, it was normal people, weak and ordinary humans, but now... anyone below C rank is required to go to the church for a blessing before each mission."

Paul raised his eyebrows, "What? That's a pain..."

"Hah? It is what it is... It's just a simple ritual, and those who've done it haven't been infected yet."

Simon drank from his ale, his brows furrowing as he thought of something.

'It started with the weak, but is growing stronger... it feels like like sickness or disease and more like a curse.'

"What has the church decided to do?" Paul brought the conversation back on track.

"Nuffin!" The scruffy man slammed his empty glass down, suds covering his beard. "Bastards have given up! Say there's not enough gold for them to treat it."

"Fucking Clergy!" Simon cursed.

"True! Bastards!"

Clang!

The three men, except Paul, hit their glasses together with a vulgar laugh.

After that, the four men discussed general issues, including monsters growing stronger and a black fog that some claimed was linked to the mysterious curse affecting the city.

When the city clock outside chimed three o'clock, Paul and Simon looked towards the door, their eyes instantly glowing.

"Ah, he's here."

"Took his damn time, ack... is that the arachne?"

Simon's arachnophobia made his skin crawl each time Lumina appeared, but now she was wearing a human-like disguise with a wig and contact lenses.

Paul nodded; he felt a strong mana from both Asmodeus and Lumina in the distance. He looked towards the door with Simon and raised a hand in greeting.

Asmodeus saw the gesture and moved toward them.

"Who is that handsome kid?" The slim adventurer asked.

"The woman is a beauty, damn lucky boy."

"He's our saviour, and like a little brother to us..."

"Oh? Is this the kid you spoke about, Simon, who made you realise your limits?"

The two men gazed at Asmodeus, their gaze a little dirty, but it was void of malicious intent because they knew he was essential to their old friends.

"Oi! Little brother, sit down and grab a drink!" Paul smiled, his fang-like teeth and red eyes glowing in the dark booth. He stood and patted his shoulder while Simon squirmed from the sight of Lumina, even without her spider-like lower body.

"Sister Lumina, you're here too?" He pushed out the greeting, as the beautiful Lumina just snorted at him and flashed her fangs.

"Hello, Brothers, it's great to see you. My dear husband missed you both greatly."

Asmodeus couldn't help but grin when he saw their faces turn red, "H-Husband?"

"Ah, you didn't know about me and them? Sorry, haha!"

Asmodeus teased the two men before sitting down in the booth next to Paul, while Lumina took a seat opposite him next to Simon. He needed to maintain the guise while in the city, not just for their own goals, but also because it made Lumina happy.

"Hello, seniors!" He also greeted the two adventurers with a polite bow.

'Is this our brother, the Demon King!?' Paul thought to himself about how human he found Asmoeus and Lumina.

Asmodeus started the talk, snapping at the bartender, signalling him to bring another round.

"So, about that strange Miasma...."
