Chapter 5

Writer's POV

Surfing is like the Mafia, once you're in there's no getting out.

But right now, Paige Lee is in a dilemma if she could back out of the deal she made with Daniel D'connell. 

Restless, Paige pulled down the short, black off-shoulder handkerchief dress.

What she witnessed at 12:00 AM this morning made her rethink her decision. Paige shuddered as she rested her back on the car seat.

When Daniel came to pick Paige Lee up at the hospital, with just a hard punch, he knocked out the officer that was assigned to her in a twinkle of an eye.

Paige witnessed all what he did, Daniel was on a mission also due to how he eliminated someone.

Paige Lee gagged holding her mouth, Daniel killed that man in front of her, and he intentionally did that.

"Are you okay? You look pale" Daniel cooed glancing at the rear mirror, Paige hummed as she nodded.

She knew Daniel indeed slashed CEO Bang's neck with a knife to show her something, like he wanted to make her realize what she was getting herself into. 

Signing a deal with The Mafia.

Paige took a deep breath before saying "Since I've given you the SD card..." She paused, gazing at the streets lined with citizens walking their dogs. "I really don't need your help anymore" Paige forced a smile as she announced.

"You really think so?" Daniel asked as he took a U-turn to enter one of the biggest estates in Seoul, Aera Estate.

Where Paige lived with her darling husband.

"Yes... I just need to divorce Jong Suk, I'll get my revenge on him in due time" Paige rambled, her thoughts drifting to her family. She made a decision to contact them, her family might help her.

"Really? No problem" Daniel responded cheerily but his voice cracked at the end.

This wasn't what Paige agreed with him!

His hands tightened on the steering wheel, as he gave her a fleeting glance.

Daniel knew what to do.

Paige immediately stepped down from the car in a black ankle-strap shoe as Daniel parked the car in front of her house. 

Daniel and Paige had been to a hotel before they came here. Where Paige had a hot bath, massage, ate good food and dressed up. Paige loved every treatment at the hotel, it felt like she was in paradise. At first, the plan was to leave Korea with Daniel D'connell after signing the divorce papers, her flight had been booked too, to set off tonight. But she still couldn't shake the apprehensive feeling of witnessing the death of CEO Bang. To sum it up, it seems she had a glimpse of her future with The D'connell brothers. 

And Paige wasn't ready for that!

The sight of two people sitting at the small garden outside Paige's house baffled her. She blinked and blinked as if her eyes weren't working, are those not Jong Suk's mother and sister? Dining and wining in front of her house?

Paige walked faster towards them almost stumbling not knowing when Daniel left, "what are you doing here?" She questioned with narrowed eyes.

What effrontery! This mansion was hers for crying out loud!

Jong Suk's sister who had spotted the black Infiniti car as it entered stood up, with a haughty smile on. "I should ask you the same question" Jong Soo uttered, her hands on her waist.

Paige Lee couldn't believe her eyes, they wanted to take away her house but she wouldn't allow them. If they snatched the only property she has now, where would she live? How would she cope?!

"What right do you have to say that?!" Paige glowered, pointing accusatory fingers at them.

"Sorry to burst your bubble Paige, but this house now belongs to my brother, get the hell out" Jong Soo snickered.

Paige's blood began to boil at the mention of her name, wasn't this the girl who always called her "eonni" while asking her for money?

"Bullshit! Your generations had never even built a room! And you're talking about your stupid brother's house!" Paige said in a rage-filled voice, mouth twisted into a snarl.

"How dare you say that! You filthy whore!" Jong Suk's mother had risen up in a feat of anger, giving Paige a hot slap on the cheek.

Paige held her right cheek, her eyes blazing red, ready to spit fire!

"You all are crazy!" She spat on their faces, her hands clenched into a fist, she was holding back from beating the woman! How could her mother-in-law slap her!

Jong Suk's mother rushed towards Paige, ready to pounce on her but was held back by her daughter. Jong Soo clicked her tongue, "you harlot! See how a married woman dresses up!" She sized Paige up and down, disgust written all over her face. Paige Lee suddenly laughed out loud like a maniac, fury rumbling in her heart, she roared in a scathing tone, "you bunch of fools! After what your Godforsaken son did to me! You have the guts to call me a harlot!"

Paige Lee was seething in rage now, pacing up and down, eyes transmitting killing intent. "Your adulterous son cheated on me! NOW YOU TELL ME! WHO'S THE FUCKING HARLOT!" Paige surged forward towards the mother and daughter duo, speaking in a deathly ill voice.

The two were so frightened that they held onto each other, horror-stricken.

Jong Soo who had almost peed on herself suddenly got on her knees, "I know you are a crazy woman, please leave my brother alone!" She kept brushing her palms together drastically. "You can't even give me a grandchild and Do Hana has given us one, can't you leave us alone?!" Jong Suk's mother cried out as she sat on the green grass, flailing her hands as if Paige had beaten her up.

"What kind of fucked up family is this?! Geez!" Paige ran a hand through her brown hair.

A Ruby red Audi A4 drove in, Jong Suk and his beloved girlfriend, Do Hana walked out of it like royalty.

"My son! She has killed me!" Jong Suk's mother's wails rang out, as she stood up and ran towards her baby son. Jong Suk was livid as she saw Paige, his eyes raked over her before he bellowed, "what did you do to my mother, you psychopath!"

Paige Lee squeezed her eyes shut, her head was pounding right now, "just bring the divorce papers and let me leave" she said in a tired tone, she was leaving the house for him.

Paige had thought it would be easy to get her revenge on Jong Suk but that dream felt faraway.

Jong Suk brought out the divorce papers from his car as if he never signed their marriage certificate. "Go ahead! We need this crazy woman out of our lives!" Jong Suk's mother yelled out. 

Paige signed it with trembling fingers, angry tears threatening to fall from her eyes, but she wasn't going to cry. She must smile.

Yes.

A smile to show that she wasn't down yet.

Paige dropped the pen and gave her now ex-husband a smile, "Jong Suk" she mumbled, Jong Suk wrapped his arms around Hana proudly sneering.

"This is not the end... I want you to remember that karma is a bitch..."

Paige walked away from them, not taking a look back despite the insults they were hurling at her.

"Wake up!" A big burly hand landed a slap on Paige Lee's face, jolting her awake.

Paige whimpered in pain, eyes darting around in confusion, five dangerous burly men stood in front of her.

Paige looked around again, breath shaky and weak, she was tied to a wooden chair! Face swollen, eyes blackened, and skin covered in cuts and bruises. 

She had been kidnapped!

What Paige could only remember was boarding a taxi! How did she end up like this! 

Paige began regretting not going with Daniel, she wouldn't have been in this mess if she had followed him to The USA!

One of the burly men who had a tattoo on his neck suddenly licked his lips, "she looks beautiful even after the beatings, must taste good!" He mentioned excitedly, unbuckling his trousers belt.

They were going to rape her!
