Chapter 3

Writer's Pov

A dark hollow under her eyes, it flew open at the blaring sound of her cellphone. Paige Lee turned her head to the left, eyes squinting at the intensity of the sun. With furrowed brows, she turned right, the walls were painted white but couldn't fathom where she was.

She sat up immediately wincing at the pain in my hand, an IV fluid was inserted into her hand. She was at the hospital, but why?

The cellphone rang again.

Paige Lee snapped her head towards it, ears ringing at the noise, she stretched her hand towards it and peered at the caller ID. It was Bitna. 

She picked the call ready to lash out at her when she heard Bitna yell.

"President Lee! There's a problem!"

Her head pounding, Paige squeezed her eyes shut, "what is it?"

"The board of directors are at the company right now! Director Jong Suk called for an emergency board meeting!"

Her heart almost leaped out of her chest, the memories of last night came crashing.

Paige scrambled down the bed, she flipped out the IV from her hand, put on her shoes, noticing that her feet were bandaged. She rushed out, without the knowledge about the drops of blood in her hand.

Paige Lee entered into her company, long black hair disheveled, with an haggard expression. Her employees stared at her, but she wasn't bothered, she got into the elevator.

Before she got to the upper floor, where the CEO's office was, the elevator came to a stop. As the silver door opened, people trooped in, in multiple of twos. Paige Lee's face was grave, "what are you doing? Can't you see that I'm right in?!" She bellowed.

The people who had pushed her to a corner, exchanged glances among themselves briefly, a lady in white shirt sneering, "who are you?" Her eyes filled with hatred. Some men cackled in mockery, "I'm your CEO for crying out loud!" Paige exclaimed, offended at their reaction. 

"Hey, stop shouting! Your breath stinks!" The lady covered her nose in disgust, "Paige Lee, don't start your crazy act here! As far as I'm concerned, Director Jong is our new president" another lady snickered.

Paige's face had turned ashen, staring at the people with her eyes wide, shamefaced! She knew she wasn't the best CEO but this was too much!

The elevator dinged and opened, "I'm really grateful that we don't have a crappy crazy CEO!"

"I'm glad too!"

Paige Lee stumbled out of the elevator, she gulped and swallowed down the lumps in her throat, "they aren't worth it" she told herself.

Paige didn't know why this was happening? What had she done so wrong to deserve all this?

Everything felt overwhelming.

She barged into the conference room, kicking the door open, and met Jong Suk and Do Hana. Jong Suk's arm was wrapped around Hana's shoulder, both of them with their mouths spread into a grin.

Paige Lee's fists were clenched so tightly that the knuckles had turned white. Eyes bulging like they're about to pop out, she screamed "You jerk!"

The two heads turned in her direction, Paige marched towards them, her face livid , Jong Suk planting himself in front of Hana that moment.

"What do you think you're doing?! How could you...?" Tears flooding her eyes, Paige said. Jong Suk let out a dark chuckle, "Paige... You know you're quite dense, and I like you for being dim and slow-witted"

"Aren't you sorry for what you did?!"

"Not at all" Jong Suk haughtily placed his hands in his pocket, he grabbed Do Hana's arm, locking their hands together.

Paige Lee bit her lips so hard that it drew blood, they disgusted her, "I won't allow you to take my father's company that easily!" She said in a strangling voice. 

"It's ours already, and my son is going to become the next CEO after my love" Do Hana uttered, looking up at Jong Suk with a smile, her hand placed on her stomach. She was no longer the timid secretary, she's now the CEO's wife to be.

"You wish!" Paige Lee nails digged into her palm, she knew Jong Suk wasn't to blame, she was the one who refused to give him a child.

"Care to know how I took away your company?" Jong Suk said, a tug in his lips, "I told them that you are a psychopath... That you are crazy! I showed them a forged medical report! And guess what? They believed me..." he laughed so hard, "those old fools only cared about their shares... They took sides with me immediately".

Paige Lee's body was trembling, though she has anger management issues, she still couldn't believe that this was the man she had lived with for three years!

The man she thought would be her therapy!

 "You lie!" She removed her phone from her pocket, dialed the contact of one of the board members.

"Mr Park--"

The call was hung up.

"No! Never!" Paige shouted, her voice trembling, she dialed another contact but it went into voicemail.

She tried it again, "hello Mr Go--!"

"Don't call me again in your life! You this psycho!"

And hung up on the call.

Jong Suk kept laughing like a demon, doubling over the long wooden table, "you are so dumb that you gave me your shares! You even named your company after me!"

"She was lovestruck" Hana grinned and sneered, arms wrapped around herself, she suddenly grabbed a remote control on the table, putting on the big TV in front of them.

"Breaking news! JS Electronics' current CEO just got demoted! The board of directors reappointed one of the directors, Director Jong Suk, which is believed JS Electronics was named after. Congratulations on your appointment, President Jong Suk!"

Paige Lee looked down, hot tears running down her cheeks like a dam, everything felt like a dream! 

"Lest I forget, don't bother stepping out of here, the prosecutors are on their way" Jong Suk said as he held Hana's hand gently, walking to the door.

Paige was confused, "what prosecutor?" She asked in a quaking voice.

As the two passed beside Paige, they both exchanged glances and broke into laughter. Paige felt a shudder run through her body at the sinister smile on their faces, what are they planning again?

"The prosecutors are coming to prosecute you about your fake paper company and how you evaded tax," Hana said sardonically.

Paige felt a wave of nausea at the revelation, her breath rasping and feverish, she swayed back and forth numb in shock. 

She knew it was over for her...

Paige fell on the floor, her body and soul in great despair, there was no drop of tears on her face, she lay motionless, barely able to open her eyes.

Miserable, she fainted.
