Chapter 17: Chapter 16
It would be so easy.
"Albus!" Just a light twist of his hand or his other hand drawing his wand and he could do it.
"Albus!" He could end the life of this traitor for what he had allowed to happen to Lily and James. For orphaning Violet!
"Albus!" Yes it would be so easy!
…but he couldn't do it.
"Stupefy." Dumbledore whipped out his wand and stunned the traitor in his hand.
"Minerva, dear, please call Amelia Bones and tell her to come with a squad of aurors as quickly as possible. I will make sure that this… rat won't be going anywhere." The headmaster of Hogwarts said and after a moment where Minerva looked at him with worry, she left to do as he had said.
This was bad. The fact that Peter was alive and the secret keeper of the Potters meant that they… no, it meant that he let a man, a friend, rot in Azakaban for ten years. Dear Merlin, he didn't even want to imagine Sirius' mental state at the moment. Spending ten years within the vicinity of Dementors while likely thinking all his friends betrayed him.
"What have we done?"

"Hmm, now this is a surprise." I said. Before me was a gathering of several Slytherin students lead by Libra Malfoy. Did I somehow fail to properly change her memories? Nah that can't be it. Why are they here then?
"Of course it is, it's not like a mudblood like you could anticipate anything in the first place." Libra said with a haughty tone while the students with her laughed, though I could see that some of them were actually bored and laughing only to look like they had a unified front. Cute.
"Hmm, ok you made your usual racist comments. Now do tell why you people are here, peacock."
"P-Peacock!" Libra yelled, more like shrieked like a banshee, with indignation. Guess she didn't like the nickname I had bestowed upon her in my eternal grace.
"You have been getting too high with your worthless achievements! We are here to make you remember your place!" Translation: the motley crew of morons before me didn't like the fact that my grades were higher than theirs and wanted to hide their insecurities by assaulting me.
Standard teenage stuff.
"A very interesting plan. Even mister Filch seems keen to know more about it." I said as I gestured behind them and all the Slytherins turned back with pale faces only to be confused by the fact that there were no signs of the grouchy caretaker.
Can't believe they actually fell for that.
"Stupefy!" I said with a normal tone as I sent several bolts of stunning spell at every student who had gathered to assault me with the sole exception of the little Malfoy. I had different plans for her.
Seeing that the little army she had amassed was now having a surprise nap, Libra turned against me with a very pale face while shakily holding up her wand.
"Wh-What did you do?!"
"Stunning charm. A fifth year spell I picked up since it looked useful." I said with a shrug, the spell might be considered one for upper years but it had been quite simple actually. Though Libra didn't seem to think so if I was reading the way her knees were shaking right.
"So, I believe this is the moment you try to 'put me in my place'. Right?" I asked with a smirk, little brat looked like she was about to piss herself.
"Come now. This is the moment to show the worth of your blood isn't it?" I said as I walked towards her with my wand at my side, perfect picture of a young man at his leisure with nothing to worry about.
"Well?" And now I was standing right before her, and then above her as her legs gave out and she fell on her butt with a thud.
"And here and now we see the worth of the blood." I smirked down at the frightened girl before me.
"The worth of blood is nothing. The worth of heritage can only be shown by people who can take full advantage of it. Therefore the worth of heritage is worthless on worthless people while elevating those who are truly superior." I leaned down to look at her in the eye.
"Which one do you think you are, Libra?"

This couldn't be happening.
This couldn't be happening!
THIS COULDN'T BE HAPPENING!
She was supposed to show Jonathan Richards that she was superior to him. She could have overlooked his disrespect at the train as he was supposed to be just a dumb savage but instead he upstaged her and every other student in their year in every class. In every lesson he would be the first one to learn a spell and he would learn them all within first try.
This could not stand. So she had gathered a group of like minded Slytherin, some of them were even second years, and planned to show him who was truly superior.
So why was she on her butt and her group on the ground while Jonathan Richards was looking down at them?!
"No answer huh? But I guess that is answer enough." His words, his voice… she had grown up while listening to the tales of her father's glory days. The days where he had the ear of the most powerful wizard on the planet listening to him. The days where her family was feared and respected by all. Yet the one before her made her feel like they were nothing. That the legacy of the Malfoy family was nothing.
He felt powerful. He felt… inhuman… beyond human.
Was this how her father had felt when he had met the Dark Lord?
"See you later than, miss Malfoy." The way he said her name… it made her feel tingly. As a matter of fact she had felt like that during this whole encounter since the moment he had shown himself to be above them.
There was something wrong with her, and she needed her mother's help in order to figure it out!
