DanMachi: Ultimate Lich King

Chapter 106: DULK: Chapter 106

Kiritsugu Emiya even wondered if he might perform better in this Grail War without Saber.

Saber's impulsive actions had put them at a disadvantage; revealing their hand on the first night wasn't ideal.

"What do we do now?"

Maiya Hisau, beside Kiritsugu, asked worriedly.

"Tell Saber to prepare for a retreat. I'll see if I can find Lancer's Master," Kiritsugu said coldly, focusing on his scope.

Even the strongest mage could be easily sniped with a moment's carelessness; Kiritsugu had that confidence.

A tense atmosphere hung between them, broken by a thunderous roar.

"What?" Arthas looked up; a flying object streaked across the sky, heading towards them, trailing purple sparks. The sound undoubtedly came from it.

Illya stared, mouth agape.

"A chariot…"

"Both of you, drop your weapons! Before this King!" A booming voice echoed. A large man stood in the chariot, surveying the surroundings, then introduced himself:

"I am Gilgamesh, Archer-class participant in this Holy Grail War."

"What are you doing, you idiot?!" A hysterical voice cried out; a near-tearful boy pulled at Gilgamesh's coat, looking frantic.

What was going on? Everyone sweatdropped at the Master and Servant's antics.

"Proper introductions are essential for a noble battle," Gilgamesh flicked his Master away, saying matter-of-factly.

"Saber and Lancer, your noble battle moves me! Join me! Give me the Grail; we'll conquer the world together!" Gilgamesh declared, as if the Servants had already surrendered.

Is this guy an idiot?

Kiritsugu, observing from the docks with his sniper rifle, thought helplessly. He'd found a Servant even more unreliable than his Saber.

"Kiritsugu, something's wrong! Look at the crane! And below it!" Maiya's voice sounded.

"It's… Assassin? Wasn't he supposed to be eliminated…?" Kiritsugu was startled by the figure in the white skull mask atop the crane.

"There… I see two people; another Master-Servant pair?" Kiritsugu couldn't see Flandre from his angle, only Arthas and Illya.

This was already chaotic enough.

Saber and Lancer's battle had attracted attention; the situation was worsening.

"Damn…"

Kiritsugu gritted his teeth, forced to wait; he could do nothing.

After Gilgamesh's speech, Saber and Lancer were stunned.

"Did you interrupt our duel to spout nonsense?"

The Servants, who'd been fighting moments ago, glared at Gilgamesh with undisguised hostility.

"Are you negotiating?"

"Cut the crap!" Sensing Gilgamesh's flattery, Lancer and Saber rejected him simultaneously.

Saber, disappointed, continued.

"I'm the ruler of Britain. No king submits to another."

"Oh? Britain's King?" Gilgamesh, intrigued, raised an eyebrow.

"Astonishing. The famed King of Knights is a girl."

"Try your words on this girl, Conqueror King!" Saber whispered, raising her sword. Her left hand weakly gripped the hilt, but the magical energy emanating from the sword was more majestic than before.

Gilgamesh frowned, sighing.

"Our negotiation is over. A shame."

"It would be a miracle if it worked! You idiot! Idiot! Idiot!"

His Master's near-hysterical voice echoed; Gilgamesh scratched his head sheepishly.

"There's a saying, 'A single attempt is better than a thousand words!'"

"That's your true name?!" The boy cried, punching Gilgamesh's armor.

The Master's antics defused the tension.

"Is that so?"

A low, menacing voice froze the scene again.

The boy's expression froze, turning to fear.

That voice… Lancer's Master?

Arthas and Illya exchanged glances.

"He's revealed himself. Maiya, can you pinpoint the location?" Kiritsugu moved his gun, asking Maiya.

"No. I have a general location, but he's well-hidden; I can't attack directly," Maiya's calm voice came through the comms.

"Keep watching Assassin and the other Master-Servant pair," Kiritsugu decided; they could only wait and see.
