Chapter 1: Six Years in Oriorio

Six Years in Oriorio

Well, I guess today marks the sixth year since I arrived in this world. I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

Flashback

"Huh… where am I?" John muttered, blinking as his surroundings slowly came into focus.

An old man, whose face was lined with age but still full of warmth, crouched beside him. "Oh, there, young one! You don't look too good. What's your name?"

"My name's John. Where am I?" John asked, his mind racing with confusion.

The old man smiled kindly. "You're in Oriorio, the Land of the Tower of Babel."

John's eyes widened. "Wait… Oriorio? Tower of Babel? Am I in Danmachi? Oh, this is bad..." His voice trembled with worry as he quickly tried to recall everything he knew about the world of Danmachi. "Can you take me to the Adventurers' Guild?"

The old man laughed softly, showing no signs of concern. "Sure, follow me."

Flashback ends

"I think I've done pretty well for myself since then," John said, leaning back in his chair, reflecting on his past. "I became a merchant, invented a few technologies—things like the printing press, assembly line machines, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Heck, my net worth is over 7 billion Valis now. That's more than seven times what the Loki Familia makes in an entire year. But... I still never got a system."

John's thoughts were interrupted by a strange buzzing sound in the back of his mind. A soft glow appeared in the air before him, and he blinked, startled.

[System activation 100%]

[System activated]

[Multiversal Skill Gacha System awakened]

John's heart skipped a beat. "Wait… what? The system is activated? But… what does it mean?"

[Please provide adequate materials for a gacha pull.]

"Okay, okay…" John muttered under his breath, piecing everything together. "Adequate materials? What does that even mean?"

[System requires materials in exchange for gacha pulls. Materials include anything you possess. The more energy the material contains, the greater the points you'll get for gacha pulls.]

John furrowed his brow. The concept was a little confusing, but then it hit him. "Wait, so it's not just magical items? Anything with energy can be used. Even non-magical stuff." He paced back and forth, thinking quickly.

"Alright, I think I understand now. The system works based on the energy density of the material. The more dense the material, the more energy it has—just like in physics." He grinned, excited by the new possibilities. "Let's go see what I've got."

John stepped into one of the many storerooms of his mansion, where crates, chests, and barrels filled with various items and gadgets were stacked high. He began rummaging through them, picking up a few objects here and there, testing their weight in his hands.

"Alright, let's see what we've got here." He muttered to himself, holding up an intricate, mechanical device—one of his inventions. "System, what's the worth of this?"

[Item: Energy Converter]

[Material: Steel, Magic-infused Crystal]

[Energy Rating: High]

[Points for Gacha Pull: 1000]

John grinned. "That's pretty decent."

He placed the gadget back and grabbed another item: a magical amulet he'd bought from a high-level adventurer some time ago. The jewel inside the amulet glowed faintly.

[Item: Magic Infused Amulet]

[Material: Unknown, Magic-infused]

[Energy Rating: Very High]

[Points for Gacha Pull: 5000]

John's eyes widened. "Now we're talking. I should save this for later, though." He carefully returned the amulet to its velvet pouch and moved on.

As he continued his search, he grabbed several non-magical items: a set of high-quality tools, a few heavy steel beams, and even some industrial machinery parts. They were simple, everyday objects, but John was beginning to see them in a new light. After all, energy wasn't just about magic—it was about density.

"Let's test these," he murmured, picking up a metal pipe.

[Item: Steel Pipe]

[Material: Steel]

[Energy Rating: Medium]

[Points for Gacha Pull: 300]

"Not bad," he muttered, noting the results. It wasn't magical, but the steel was dense and compact—holding a certain amount of energy based on its mass and the structure of its atoms. Physics, after all, worked the same here as it did in his old world.

Next, he picked up a concrete block, its heavy weight almost pulling him down.

[Item: Concrete Block]

[Material: Concrete]

[Energy Rating: Low]

[Points for Gacha Pull: 100]

John shook his head with a smile. "Looks like the denser, the better, huh? Alright, let's see what else we've got." He moved on to a bundle of raw materials, pulling out a stack of bricks and some rubber-coated wires.

[Item: Raw Bricks]

[Material: Clay and Sand]

[Energy Rating: Low]

[Points for Gacha Pull: 150]

[Item: Rubber-coated Wires]

[Material: Rubber, Copper]

[Energy Rating: Medium]

[Points for Gacha Pull: 400]

"Interesting… It looks like the conductivity of the material matters too," John said, absorbing the new information. The copper wire, while not magical, had a higher rating than the brick because it conducted energy more efficiently.

John finally stopped, realizing he had sorted through a wide range of items. Some had magical properties, while others were simple everyday materials, but all had energy in one form or another. The denser the material, the more energy it contained, and that made it more valuable for the gacha pulls. It was just physics—nothing too mystical about it.

End of Chapter 1

Please read if I'm being honest there are other story's like my latest or latest before this one that I'd rather you give power stones to but I will say I give 3 chapters a week random days but I'll give a forth for 20 power stones
