Chapter 11: Ais asks for advice

While Gareth took Kelvin for treatment, Riveria took Ais to her room.

Once they entered, she locked the door after feeling that no one was following them.

"Sit down Ais, I have something to say to you."

Riveria said, while Ais nodded obediently and sat on the bed with her head bowed.

"Ais, you know why I brought you here, right?"

Riveria asked, her tone slightly stern, but also containing curiosity as she looked at Ais.

"Mn."

Ais simply nodded, her head still bowed as if she felt guilty and didn't dare to look Riveria in the face.

"Hah, take it easy. I won't scold you. By the way, how's your wound? Are you alright?"

Seeing Ais feeling guilty naturally calmed Riveria's heart a little, but she remembered the wounds Ais had received on her abdomen and arms.

Currently, those wounds were still wide open, and the blood was still flowing, though not as loudly as before.

"...." Ais.

"...Let me treat you first."

Riveria sighed, as she began chanting her magic spells to heal Ais' wound.

Although the wound wasn't deep, but it would be a problem if it became infected, moreover, Ais tended to be unable to take care of herself.

"Okay, that's done. Now, can you tell me what happened before?"

Riveria asked. She originally did see Ais and Kelvin training together, it was light training and without any fighting intentions at all.

But, when she went to Finn's room, they heard a loud explosion, and when they went to the origin of the explosion, they saw Ais and Kelvin already fighting fiercely.

Although there was no killing intent from the two, they knew that the two were fighting with all their might.

That confused Riveria, especially since it was clear that even Kelvin was able to match the raw power of Ais who was a level 5 even though she was still a level 1.

Although she was curious about it, but for now she wanted to ask Ais first.

"...I don't know." Ais shook her head softly.

She was indeed confused, why she suddenly wanted to fight with Kelvin. Although she often challenged people stronger than her to a fight, clearly Kelvin wasn't much stronger than her.

So, what made her do that?

Ais herself didn't know.

"...You don't know?" Riveria was silent.

"Mn," Ais nodded, "originally we were just practicing together. I had the upper hand at first, but Kelvin started copying my fighting style and modifying it. Perhaps at that time I felt rivaled, and without realizing it we were already fighting with all our strength."

"So it is." Riveria held her chin with a thoughtful expression, "I guess he's good enough to be able to copy your sword techniques in just one look, right?"

Ais nodded.

"And because of that, you felt rivaled, and you started fighting, am I right?" Rivera confirmed.

Ais nodded again.

Hearing her answer, Riveria rubbed her forehead. It seemed like she knew the cause of all this.

The point of all this was, both of them had high competitive spirits.

Riveria already knew with Ais, and she could guess a similar thing in Kelvin after their initial meeting.

In the end, both of them wanted to be strong, although their goals were different.

If Ais wanted to become stronger so that she could take revenge, Kelvin did not.

Riveria remembers Kelvin once saying he wanted to be strong because he liked fighting. But she was sure it wasn't that simple.

It was possible that he was hiding something from them back then. But, since his eyes were closed, she couldn't confirm that.

To be honest, she could tell if someone was lying or not by the look in their eyes. Although this didn't completely work, but there was still a possibility of her knowing if the person was lying or hiding something from her.

But, if she couldn't see the other party's eyes, it would be useless.

"Hah..., I won't scold you this time. But, I want you not to overdo it next time."

In the end, Riveria chose to ignore this matter for the time being. Now, she was more curious as to what exactly Kelvin was hiding from them....

"Mn, I understand." Ais nodded slowly, then her expression became doubtful as she lowered her head.

Riveria noticed this, looking at Ais curiously as she asked, "What's wrong Ais? Is something bothering you?"

"Um..., Riveria, actually ...." Seeing Riveria realize her thoughts so quickly, Ais became hesitant to say anything.

"Just say it, maybe I can help you." While saying this, Riveria was a little excited, especially when she saw Ais who was squirming while twiddling her fingers with a doubtful expression.

After all, Riveria had always regarded Ais as her child, especially when she had been the one taking care of her since she was a child. Thus, no one knew Ais better than her in this Familia.

Seeing Ais acting like this was new to Riveria, so she felt a little excited to give her some life advice.

"Actually ...."

After a moment of hesitation, Ais opened her mouth and said what she was thinking.

Riveria nodded after hearing Ais' words, and a small smile formed on her lips as she listened to Ais' story.

"So that's it. You feel guilty for Kelvin and want to apologize to him, right?" Riveria looked at Ais for confirmation.

"Mn." Ais nodded slowly.

"In that case, how about you do this...."

Riveria leaned in, whispering something to Ais that only the two of them knew.

Ais' expression turned serious and considered Riveria's suggestion. And after a while, she made up her mind as she walked out of her room to look for Kelvin.

Meanwhile, Riveria covered her mouth as she laughed silently, while waiting for something interesting to happen.

The next day, Kelvin woke up as the sunlight hit his face.

Despite wearing a blindfold, he could still feel the heat sting hitting his face.

"Ugh..., what happened to me...?"

Kelvin woke up while holding his head.

He felt dizzy, and some of his muscles felt tense.

"That's right, yesterday I had a match with Ais, and I fainted ...."

"This is like the mattress in my room...? Who brought me here? Was it Raul or someone else?"

"Hah, forget it. That's not important right now."

Kelvin shook his head, Kelvin got up from his bed.

He walked as his hand moved to remove his blindfold.

And when the cloth fell, Kelvin opened his eyes slowly.

What was previously hidden behind the blindfold was now fully exposed, revealing two different colors in both eyes; red in the right eye and silver in the left.

"I guess it's been a while since I've seen with my eyes, right?"

Kelvin chuckled.

All this time, he had only relied on his sense of taste and hearing to know his surroundings.

And since he always kept his eyes closed, his sense of hearing became sharper over time.

"Looks like practicing this for so many years wasn't a waste."

Kelvin had read in a book that when someone loses one of their senses, their other senses will be enhanced to a great extent.

He had only idly tried it in the past, but did not expect it to work.

Knock! Knock!

Hearing the knock on his door, Kelvin hurried to open it, not forgetting to put on his blindfold first.

"Ah, are you awake? I came to check on your condition."

In front of him, Raul with his careless smile looked at him while scratching the back of his head.

"Yes, sorry to worry you. I'm fine now."

"Mn, by the way Captain Finn told me to confirm your condition. If you're okay, maybe you should go see Captain Finn right away."

"Mn, I understand. I'll see him in a little while."

"Alright, that's all from me. I have to go to the dungeon today. Bye!"

After saying that, Raul ran away while waving his hand.

Seeing Raul's departure, Kelvin didn't think much. Now, he had to think of a way to increase his strength.

"With the right weapon, my strength will increase significantly...."

Kelvin muttered while holding his chin with a thinking expression.

A powerful weapon was one of them. But, to have a powerful weapon, he needed a lot of money to make it, and he was currently very poor.

If it was only a third-rate weapon and below, he could buy it by diving into the dungeon for a few days. But, to buy a first-class weapon, he would likely need several months or years to be able to buy it.

"Versatility would be better ...."

In Kelvin's case, he wanted to make the scythe his primary weapon.

But, if he only used the scythe, he would be wasting his knowledge of different types of weapons for nothing.

So, it would be much better if Kelvin had a versatile weapon. For example, a weapon that can change shape according to the user's wishes.

But, that would be wasteful on the resulting quality. Because his training would be divided to train the various weapons he mastered.

So far, Kelvin had indeed mastered many weapons in various parts of the world, but he was not a master in handling all of them.

That said, he was a Jack of All Trades, Master of None himself.

"For now, I'd better meet Finn to consult."

As a veteran, Finn would definitely know the solution to his problem. And he could ask Finn for advice on what he should do to become strong.

After all, Finn was a veteran who had lived a long time as well as a level 6 adventurer in Orario.

There were only a handful of adventurers who could reach level 6 in their lifetime after the collapse of the two great Families; Zeus Familia and Hera Familia many years ago.

*****

"So that's it. I think it would be best if you focus on one weapon, but there's no harm in learning other weapons just like me."

In his room, Finn sat behind the desk as he listened to Kelvin's problem.

"Although my main weapon is a spear, but I also use a dagger as my second weapon. You don't have to have one weapon either, you can have two just in case something unexpected happens to your main weapon."

"I see. I think I'll stick with the scythe as my primary weapon. Then, maybe a wakizashi would be suitable for me to use?"

Kelvin held his chin, as he thought about this seriously.

"Wakizashi? What kind of weapon is that?" Finn tilted his head with a curious expression.
