Daily Life of The Inventor In Anime World

Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Twin Rifles (4)

---

"Sera… does the supernatural world have something like bounty hunting?" I asked the beauty beside me as we watched the Mark II being assembled.

The robotic hands worked in perfect synchronization, transmuting metal while others etched runes and magic circles with breathtaking precision.

Serafall had wanted to see the magic behind the hood, so I brought her downstairs to the assembly line, where Aurora was weaving her intricate spells.

"...Nothing like that exists," Serafall said, her gaze fixed on the rapidly assembling armor. "But, we do have a list of individuals that other pantheons want gone."

I raised an eyebrow, prompting her to elaborate.

"As you can imagine, no god will stoop to going on a manhunt just because some human wronged them. They'll either smite them before they leave Pantheon-controlled territory, or notify the other pantheons about this particular person. Those individuals often end up like terrorists in the mortal world."

"Meaning they won't be missed…" I mused, catching her meaning.

Serafall nodded, understanding my thoughts. "You want to hunt them? I see… you're looking for 'interesting' people. I assume you're not opposed to doing this for the devils first?"

I chuckled softly. "I only care about getting something in return, Sera. If the person has an interesting gear, I'll take care of it and keep it for myself. If it benefits the devils, so be it."

I shrugged casually. "After all, one man's trash is another man's treasure. Who knows? Maybe that person will help everyone by dying and giving me his gear, leading to a nice new invention."

"I see… so, you don't mind being used?"

"Your way of thinking is off. I'm not being used. Frankly, I'm stealing what was once your race's. It's like acquiring an item that belonged to you but keeping it for myself in the end."

I grinned. "And the best part is, I'll also get some valuable 'battle' data."

The way I mocked the word "battle" didn't escape Serafall's notice.

To me, there was no such thing as a battle. According to my calculations, only a God-King-level being could pose a challenge for the first three minutes before I would completely erase them. That was assuming my predicted strength curve was accurate… and, of course, God-Kings didn't just wander around randomly.

"I see," Serafall sighed, her tone resigned. "The way you put it, it makes us sound bad for losing our assets."

"Very well. I'll compile a list of wanted and 'interesting' individuals," she said with a thoughtful nod, returning her attention to the assembly.

While Serafall was busy, my Scale mail and weapons were finished. Although I didn't need to test it, I decided to anyway. The new layer design allowed me to reach speeds beyond Mach 5, and jet lag was reduced by over half.

Though that was impressive, I could only do it in a straight line. If I tried turning, the g-forces rattled me badly.

That limitation pushed me into something new: genetics.

With Grayfia and Venelana's help, I acquired an entire mountain of books on the subject.

When I first saw the pile, I realized just how vast the field of genetics was.

I had known it was big, but seeing it laid out before me made me realize how little I truly understood.

So, I dived in and started reading. This was my first real study session since my reincarnation. Before this, I had only revised a few things, like robotics. Freedom was a suit of scale mail, not quite a robot, but I still had to study the servos, motors, and joints to understand how they functioned.

To increase punching, lifting, and running force with the help of magic, the enhancements made those movements incredibly powerful.

But even with all that, it was light reading compared to genetics.

Before I could immerse myself fully, Serafall dropped another book in front of me.

I flipped through it, checking to see if I recognized any names from the books or the show. There was mention of the Khaos Brigade.

"A cheap rip-off of Mortal Kombat," I muttered, "but they were proper terrorists with a lot of interesting people. Originally led by the Infinity Dragon. A Dragon God who likes to look like a small girl... until she halved her infinity somehow. I have no idea how that works."

I paused, considering the notion of halving a being of concept. The only explanation I could think of was that she lost control over a portion of her infinity. If that were true, I could do the same to other annoying beings, stripping them of power over their concepts.

Well, I can look into that later… for now, it's time for a little manhunt.

My eyes landed on the first pictures of possible targets.

Well, well, Serafall isn't holding back with her 'requests.' The first targets are from the old Satan faction…

I skimmed through the pages. Their powers and abilities didn't seem all that interesting, and none had Sacred Gears, obviously.

I moved to the next page, checking for more intriguing targets…

Eventually, I came across something that caught my eye.

And what do we have here… Cao Cao. The descendant of the original Cao Cao, holder of the True Longinus.

"Heh… wanted by the Church and, by extension, Heaven for the spear."

I smirked. Isn't it funny how Heaven stays 'pure' while the Church does all the dirty work for them? That way, if they get caught, they can just blame the Church for acting out of line. So sneaky, so outdated… or is it just me?

I shook my head. Anyway, Cao Cao can wait for later. He'll probably do what his ancestors did—collect talent. Or in this case, humans with Sacred Gears.

For now, I'll need more info on him. When he gathers that Hero Band of his, I'll swoop in. Until then, I'll collect the stragglers.

My gaze fell on a lone devil hiding out in Siberia…

He had the common but interesting Sword Birth gear, which created Demonic Swords.

Not exactly groundbreaking, but I had some theories on how these swords were made. This hunt wasn't about the swords—it was about uncovering the truth.

Time to make Serafall dig up some more info on Cao Cao...

Siberia

"Shit! Shit! Shit! Who the fuck is that guy!?" The man, appearing to be in his twenties, sprinted through the thick, snow-covered forest. His speed was nothing short of supernatural, each burst of acceleration leaving behind a sonic boom as he shattered the sound barrier with nothing but his own legs.

Despite his speed, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was hunting him. Every now and then, he glanced up at the sky, only to see a figure resembling a white star trailing him.

'What the hell is that freaky armor? I can't feel anything from him!'

"Are you ready to tell me how you fought back the mutation of your Evil Piece?" A voice rang out from nowhere.

"Fuck off!!!" The man roared, pushing his legs to their absolute limit, but he couldn't escape the pursuit.

"...Crass… very well then, I have other ways of figuring it out…" The voice responded, a faint trace of amusement in its tone.

A chill ran down his spine as he heard multiple thunderclaps, followed by several balls of electricity raining from the sky.

"Hahaha! Your aim is shi—" His boast was cut off as a bolt of lightning slammed into him with such force that it sent him crashing through several trees. His body went limp, the electricity frying his nerves without killing him outright.

The precision of that attack was absurd—far beyond anything even the supernatural circles could manage.

Moments later, the armor landed before him, its rifle pointed at his head.

"I do thank you for letting me test shooting moving targets," the voice said with a cold calmness.

'Fuck… he was missing on purpose! Damn this freak for messing with me!!!'

"Good night. Pick your realm of death… oh, wait! Devils don't go there… my bad…"

A final surge of electricity exploded into his skull, frying his brain instantly, ending his life in a flash.

As the life left his body, several white circles surrounded the corpse. Moments later, a translucent orb emerged from the corpse, holding a sword inside.

This was the Sacred Gear, Demonic Sword Creation, also known as Sword Birth—a fairly common gear, especially in the Devil circles.

The orb was collected, and in a flash, the body was erased by a single blast from the rifle.

With the corpse gone, the energy wings of the armor glowed, lifting the figure into the air.

"Hmm? Company?" The figure's voice resonated as if detecting something in the distance. "Interesting method of hiding magic. Not bad. But for someone with magic vision, I can see the trails of magic..."

Before he could finish his sentence, several figures emerged from behind the trees. They wore white, fur-lined cloaks with hoods, all armed with silver bows and arrows.

The figure leading them was unique, however. While she wore the same outfit as the others, her aura felt divine. She exuded an authority that her companions seemed to recognize.

"Who are you?" The woman's voice was firm, commanding. "This area at this time of year is used for my hunt."

She didn't give the order to fire, but her eyes locked onto the armored figure. This was the first time in her very long life that she had encountered someone she couldn't discern. The divine power she wielded seemed to bounce off the armor—she couldn't even tell if it was male or female.
