Chapter 955: Past of Soul Ghost King
Jacob has already more or less guessed the unique situation of the Ghost Race. Basically, the Soul Abyss had been connected to the Divine Soulless Pagoda or at least created by it, and he was the main reason the Ghost Race was able to become a legendary king-rank race.
Although Jacob had no idea about the more profound mystery of the Soul Abyss, he was sure that Soulless knew everything. So, when Jacob captured the Divine Soulless Pagoda, everything connected to it instantly crumbled, including the Soul Abyss, Soulless Palace, and who knows what else.
But there was another thing Jacob was curious about as he asked Alma, "Tell me, why couldn't you leave the Soulless Palace or, as a matter of fact, the Ghost Domain even when the Soul Abyss wasn't active? I can only assume that the reason you were unwilling to have a child with the Soulless Ghost King should be because of your unique situation?"
Alma replied emotionlessly, "It was the Soulless Ghost King and the Soulless Ghost Clan's trick. I suddenly awakened the Ghost Form when I became the Soulless Ghost King and entered the Legendary Rank.
"The Ghost Form has always been a symbol of the most powerful Ghost King in our Ghost Race and proof of the direct blessing of the Ancestor. Only three in the entire history of the Ghost Race had awakened the Ghost Form besides the Soulless Ghost Ancestor and me.
"But the previous Ghost Form owners were all the Soulless Ghost Kings of their generation and males. A female ghost with the title of the Soul Ghost King never had awoken the Ghost Form.
"One can only imagine what kind of stir it had caused to not only the Soulless Ghost King but the two clans as well. Because there was another absolute rule of the ancestor dogma, any Ghost Race member who awoke a Ghost Form should be immediately conferred as the Soulless Ghost King even if another one already exists; they have to give away their title and legacy with the help of the Ghost Shrine.
"Since the Ghost Race has never broken the Soulless Ghost Ancestor laws, the Soulless Ghost Clan had no choice but to follow this law as well because there was a warning if these laws were broken, our race would suffer a calamity.
"But no one had expected that the Soulless Ghost King would use his authority and take a mysterious treasure from the treasury vault of the Soulless Ghost Ancestor.
"He used that treasure to cast an extremely powerful curse on me and bond me to the Soul Abyss seal. According to this curse, as long as the Soul Abyss's seal exists, I can't leave its vicinity, meaning the Ghost Domain, and the more active the seal is, the more limited my area of movement, like the activation period of the Soul Abyss when the seal is the most active.
"If I leave the Ghost Domain for a certain period of time, my soul totem will be shattered, and I've personally experienced it when I thought the Soulless Ghost King was lying to me.
"The most hateful part about this curse was I could be the strongest within the Ghost Domain, yet despite that, because the throne of the Soulless controls 70% of the seal, I can't do anything to Soulless Ghost King and almost became his strongest guard dog." A trace of deep hatred and resentment was laced in her voice as she recounted her past.
Jacob was astounded when he heard about this so-called curse that bound a powerful legendary king like Alma to the seal of Soul Abyss, not to mention the Soulless Ghost King, who had even thought of this ingenious plan.
His eyes flashed with a cold glint as he chuckled darkly. "Since that's the case, didn't this mean that you became free after I broke the seal? Yet you were probably pretending to go mad and attack the 'Soulless Ghost King,' which would justify your actions.
"And when you killed the Soulless Ghost King, you can easily take back what should be yours without any protest or pressure from the two clans. After all, you might be a Ghost King with Ghost From. I'm pretty sure there should be some contingency backup in place in case the Soulless Ghost King or Soul Ghost King goes rogue.
"However, your plan was destined to fail because you have never even thought that someone else could not only kill the Soulless Ghost King in cold blood but also take his memories and everything else.
"I guess we are no different from each other; the only difference between you and me is that I'm stronger!" Jacob said matter-of-factly.
Alma didn't deny it;. In fact, she thought Jacob was being too humble. He was not only powerful but also had too many strange abilities and unknown trump cards.
After three days of wandering this strange 'world' aimlessly, she discovered one terrifying thing: the presence of laws was far more profound than the Legendary Plains. Despite her suppressed powers, she could still sense them but couldn't connect with them as if the laws were loyal to someone else.
She even started to suspect Jacob of being a God who had descended from the upper plains, just as another God had descended thousands of years ago in the Cardinal Spirit Temple.
Even the Dead Faction had no choice but to bow their heads, and even to this day, no one dared to mess with the Cardinal Spirit Temple, afraid that the God was still hidden there and would annihilate them all with a flick of its finger if enraged!
But Jacob's previous actions didn't match the demeanor of a Regal God; he was more like a devil who played with his prey and brought them nothing but despair.
Nonetheless, Alma had accepted her fate, and her mind was changing as if she started to slowly believe that she couldn't go against Jacob and that being his slave might not be a bad thing after all.
Even the thought of Blackwell courting his own death by offending Jacob flashed in her mind for a moment before she quickly erased it.
Jacob could also feel Alma falling into the pits of the abyss, and the process only became stronger the more he established his authority and power.
At this moment, Jacob suddenly stood up and said, "Let's start with our first experiment. Show me the full power of Ghost Form!"
