Cursed Destiny: The last of humanity

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: A new plan

The air was heavy as Amon leaned against a tree, his mind racing with thoughts of what lay ahead. He glanced at Skolo and Star, who both sat in silence, waiting for him to speak. After taking a deep breath, he finally broke the quiet.

"We can't keep doing this," Amon said, his tone resolute. "Taking out the enforcers one by one—it's slow, risky, and now that I've killed one, Valen will notice. He'll put the pieces together sooner rather than later."

Skolo scratched his chin thoughtfully. "So, what are you suggesting?" he asked.

"We target Valen directly," Amon replied. "If we can catch him alone and finish this, it'll all end. The enforcers won't have anyone to rally around, and we won't risk them sticking together and becoming harder to deal with."

Skolo nodded slowly, his brow furrowed. "It's a good idea, but it's risky. If we fail, we'll push them into a corner, and Valen might become untouchable. The enforcers could start moving as a group, and then..."

Amon looked at Star, seeking his input. "What about you? What do you think?"

Star leaned back with a grin, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "Oh, I'm all in," he said. "I've been waiting to get my hands on Valen. I'm just thinking about the best way to make him suffer for what he did to Anna. The harder, the better."

The tension in the group eased slightly as they shared a determined look. The plan wasn't perfect, but it was their best shot.

As they started their journey back to the sanctuary, Amon brought up something that had been on his mind since his encounter with the girls. "By the way," he said, breaking the silence, "did you know there are other sanctuaries in London?"

Skolo raised an eyebrow. "Other sanctuaries? How many?"

"The girls I saved mentioned it," Amon explained. "They said there are many, dotted all over the city. If that's true, then we're only dealing with a fraction of what's going on. Eventually, we'll have to see if the same kind of injustice is happening there too."

Star let out a low whistle. "Great. More problems to solve," he said with a smirk. "But I guess it's better to know now than later."

The group fell into silence as they neared the sanctuary. The familiar sight of the towering structure came into view, but something was different. They stopped in their tracks, observing the scene carefully.

One by one, the enforcers began to arrive, their imposing figures filing into the palace at the sanctuary's center. Amon, Skolo, and Star crouched in the shadows, watching intently.

"Something's off," Skolo muttered.

"Yeah," Star agreed. "Why are they all gathering like this?"

Minutes turned into an hour, and yet, no one exited the palace. The stillness of the night only amplified their unease.

"This doesn't feel right," Amon said, his voice low.

The three of them exchanged wary glances, the weight of the situation settling heavily over them. Whatever was happening inside, it was clear that things were about to escalate.
