Crossover: I Took In a Runaway High School Girl

Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Club

Hayato Hayama fell silent for a moment, an awkward shadow crossing his face, but his curiosity was too strong to contain. "Renji," he finally asked, his voice a little hesitant, "are you on good terms with Yukinoshita?"

Renji Kamisaka rolled his eyes, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "Which of your eyes saw that we're on good terms? My relationship with Haruno is slightly better." He crossed his arms. "I spoke with Yukinoshita this morning, but she rebuffed me, saying that if I wanted to be friends with her and get close to her, she'd refuse." Renji shrugged, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Hayato Hayama's face froze, an expression of shock and a hint of despair. Are you really trying to discourage me? He sighed inwardly. I also want to have a good relationship with Haruno. Unfortunately, he's currently ignored by Haruno. More precisely, he was ignored by both Yukinoshita sisters.

With a deeper sigh, Hayato said vaguely, "That's truly Yukinoshita Yukino's style." There was a pause. "It's normal for you to be criticized... I'm a little envious."

"Huh? Is there something wrong with your brain? You actually feel envious after being criticized so harshly by a beautiful girl?" Renji looked at him strangely, a frown on his brow.

Hayato Hayama replied seriously, his gaze implying an unspoken burden. "For someone who's ignored, being criticized is also a luxury." A deep loneliness emanated from his eyes.

Renji Kamisaka: "..." He fell silent, pondering Hayato's words.

Seeing that Renji didn't speak, Hayato Hayama looked at him in surprise. "Why aren't you asking me why I said that?"

Renji Kamisaka waved his hand indifferently. "You're childhood sweethearts, after all. It's normal for you to know each other a little. I don't mind." His tone was flat, as if he didn't care.

Hayato Hayama became even more depressed, his expression growing more complicated. "I thought you'd ask me if I knew about Yukinoshita Yukino's childhood. I had something to do with her becoming the way she is now."

"Oh, thank you then." Renji nodded casually, as if he had just received a gift.

"Eh, thank you for what?" Hayato frowned.

"Heh, thank you for making Yukino friendless now, otherwise how could I have a chance?" Renji grinned, a mischievous smirk that sent shivers down Hayato's spine.

Hayato Hayama blinked, his brain slowly processing the information. "If I heard correctly, you have feelings for Yukinoshita?"

"Which Yukinoshita are you talking about?" Renji looked at him meaningfully.

"Of course Yukinoshita Yukino."

"Actually, I'm interested in both." Renji stated calmly, as if it were an undisputed fact.

Hayato Hayama: "..." He shouldn't have asked. He truly wanted to know where Renji Kamisaka got such confidence. He was not only teasing Haruno, the eldest sister, but now he was eyeing the second sister too.

After thinking for a while, Hayato Hayama reminded him in a serious tone, "Do you know how Haruno treats people she hates?" He paused, his eyes implying a warning. "She'll cruelly beat the other party!"

"Oh, then you should be glad that you're not on her list of hated people." Renji retorted, his tone flat.

Hayato Hayama smiled bitterly, a deep pain behind the smile. I'd rather be hated, being ignored like this is the most painful.

"Alright, we're at the office, and we've said all we needed to say. As for what to do in the future, think for yourself, Hayato." Renji patted Hayato's shoulder. "As for me, I'm always honest."

After sending Hayato Hayama away, Renji Kamisaka entered the office. Hayato Hayama could only feel depressed. He left in a daze, his head spinning. Now he knew why Miura Yumiko was cold to him. So, what should he do? How should he explain to Yumiko that he didn't mean it? His mind was in turmoil.

"Little devil, you're here." Shizuka Hiratsuka's familiar voice greeted Renji as he entered.

"Please call me big devil. Men like to be called big by beautiful women." Renji retorted, a wide smile.

"Big stupid little devil?" Shizuka shot back, her eyebrow raised.

"Teacher Hiratsuka, I want to complain. You're verbally assaulting your student." Renji feigned annoyance.

"Go on, put your homework aside," Shizuka Hiratsuka ignored his protests and pulled out a form, handing it to him. "Fill this out."

Renji Kamisaka looked down and saw that it was an application to join a club. He frowned, a little surprised. "Teacher Hiratsuka, I'm a member of the Homecoming Club and have no intention of joining any club on campus."

"Oh, but this is Yukinoshita Yukino's, a super beautiful girl's club, are you sure you want to refuse?" Shizuka tried to tempt him.

"Yes, I refuse," Renji answered calmly, unswayed.

Shizuka Hiratsuka looked at him in surprise. "Yukinoshita Yukino, don't you want to get involved?"

Renji Kamisaka said calmly, "I have Mahiru."

Shizuka Hiratsuka felt like an arrow had pierced her heart. Her students were already dating. She was almost 30 and had never dated before! Wah, why are you so sad? She thought, her expression melancholic.

Renji Kamisaka ignored her heartbroken expression and continued to explain. "Besides not wanting to participate in club activities at school, there's another reason why I won't join." He sighed. "This morning, Yukinoshita said that if I wanted to be friends with her, she'd refuse." Renji raised his eyebrow. "Wouldn't it be embarrassing if I joined now?"

"Well, girls are thin-skinned, can't you be more generous?" Shizuka snorted.

"Is this a question of generosity? That's a beautiful girl who refused me, I should have some dignity too!" Renji insisted, his expression serious.

"Your face is thicker than a wall, what are you pretending?" Shizuka Hiratsuka expressed her disdain for him.

Renji Kamisaka said seriously, "You're slandering me, I'm also very thin-skinned, and I'm a boy who's easily hurt."

"Alright, alright," Shizuka sighed, giving up on the argument. "It was Haruno who asked me to find club members for her sister." She looked at Renji with a meaningful gaze. "Think about it, do you want Yukinoshita Yukino to have other male club members?"

Renji Kamisaka stopped talking immediately. An unpleasant scenario flashed through his mind. He really didn't want other boys to be in the same room as Yukino every day. Haruno, she's about to be engaged. A sister-in-law, he won't let her go either.

Seeing that Renji didn't say anything, Shizuka Hiratsuka looked at him as if she had seen through him. She pointed at the application form and said, "Write it quickly. You just need to join and put your name on it. It's up to you whether you want to participate in club activities or not."

Renji Kamisaka said anxiously, "Is this your opinion or Yukinoshita's opinion?"

"It's Yukinoshita's," Shizuka replied, her tone gentle. "She said she needed a capable club member here to help, so I recommended you."

"But she said that this morning..." Renji was still confused.

"I've always said that girls are shy, so don't take her words this morning too seriously. What Yukinoshita said... She had a bad experience when she was little, so she's wary of boys approaching her," Shizuka explained calmly.

Renji Kamisaka couldn't figure out why Yukinoshita Yukino changed her mind so quickly. However, this was a good thing. He didn't have to order the cats to trick her. Although he didn't want to join the club, he didn't want other boys to join Yukino's club. At worst, he could take Yukinoshita Yukino home and let her pet the cats. This way, he wouldn't have to stay in the club room like an idiot. He could also continue to be a member of the Homecoming Club. Perfect! Thinking of this, he quickly filled out the club application.

It was noon. Renji Kamisaka naturally went to the library. He couldn't miss the cute Sumireko Sanshokuin.

It's just that...

"Senior Mai, why are you here too?" Renji asked, seeing Mai Sakurajima.

Mai Sakurajima snorted, "I came to see junior Sumireko to have lunch together, is there a problem?" Her tone was cold, slightly defensive.

"Yes, I think you're a big lightbulb, affecting our kiss!" Renji said, his smile mischievous.

"..." Mai Sakurajima was speechless, her eyes wide with surprise and a hint of anger. "How can you say that? A mere playboy is too arrogant!"

Renji Kamisaka smiled faintly. "I'm still your landlord, the good man who gave you a place to live."

This couldn't be refuted. Sakurajima Mai lowered her head and said nothing, a faint pink blush appearing on her cheeks. She was of course grateful to him. But she wasn't happy to see him hugging women left and right. So, she was determined to be a lightbulb.

Renji Kamisaka had no intention of doing anything excessive. After lunch, he lay down at Sumireko's feet. Enjoying the comfortable lap pillow. Sumireko Sanshokuin looked at the angry Sakurajima Mai with amusement, a gentle smile on her lips.

"Senior Mai," Sumireko said in a sweet, slightly provocative tone, "Renji said he wants your lap pillow."

"Hmph, don't even think about it!" Mai Sakurajima immediately sat next to Renji, pushing him away from Sumireko's lap.

Renji Kamisaka was forced to stop resting his head on Sumireko's knees and could only sit up and put his arm around Sumireko's slender waist. He wasn't angry either. He just closed his eyes and rested, enjoying the warmth Sumireko emitted.

Time passed little by little, accompanied by a comfortable silence. But Sakurajima Mai, unconsciously, fell asleep. Her head still rested on Renji's shoulder, her breathing regular.

For a while, the atmosphere on the bench became harmonious, a rare sight. Senior probably sees him as a supporter, Renji thought, but seeing that he's fickle, she feels unhappy, so she wants to say a few words to him. But Renji Kamisaka couldn't abandon his greedy ideas just because of the senior's dissatisfaction. There were so many attractive girls in this world, why should he limit himself?
