Criminal X : Epitome Of Evil

Chapter 353: Honors

"Give him an easy death."

Those were Pablo's words.

This was the punishment that Pablo came up with for Luther.

The other soldiers were demanding the harshest of the punishment for Luther and Pablo just threw an expected answer.

"Are you sure?" Harlia asked again.

Everyone else also stared at Pablo.

"Yes. I am sure." Pablo confirmed.

Fozier finally stepped forward.

"Rubbish. I won't accept such punishment. He killed six of my soldiers!"

'Now how do I convince them? You gave me a hard task, Angel.'

"I gave you nothing. I just requested and your heart found some pity for Luther. Don't use me as an excuse."

'Well, I do feel bad for Luther but not bad enough to put myself on fire.'

"Answer me!" Fozier shouted.

"Don't yell, Marshal. The Admiral just asked me my opinion and I said it. The final decision lies to her."

Fozier jerked his head at Harlia.

"I hope you have a brain, Admiral."

'Woah. He has guts.'

"Who do you think you are talking to? I will kill you first." Harlia answered the way Pablo expected.

Fozier bowed his head.

"Kill me if you may. But I want a cruel death for him."

Harlia sighed. "I know you are sad. But fuck off. Let me think for a second."

Fozier nodded and stepped back.

Harlia then looked at Pablo.

"Why do you want an easy death for him, Pablo?"

"Well," Pablo looked Harlia in the eye and spoke the first true thing in a while :

"I killed his son."

Harlia's brows shot up.

The soldiers and the Marshals also perked their ears.

Moreover, for the first time, Luther showed a reaction as well.

He slightly raised his head towards the stage.

"Explain yourself. Why did you kill a fellow soldier?" Harlia sternly asked.

Pablo raised his hands in the air.

"He had sent his son under my command just to harass me. On the first day, his son threw a spear at me. The other soldiers were laughing at me. I am a Marshal, Admiral. If I can't even get respect from my own soldiers, how can I do well in the military? That's why first I asked Luther's son if he would stop messing with me, the son said no so I killed him.

Later, I found out that Luther loved his son too much so I hid the news of his son's death from Luther so as to not make him mad. But welp, turns out, Luther was really mad from the start. He was the killer all along."

"Wait… What? You killed Luther's son on the first day and no one got to know about it? And Luther was good for all these years, he only started killing a few days ago. None of it is making sense. And you still didn't tell us why you want him to have an easy death." Harlia asked some genuine questions.

Pablo would answer them as well.

"I hid the news of his son's death from everyone, Admiral. Mostly because I didn't want to die by your hands. And about Luther being fine for all these years, let me tell you something.. Luther's wife was having an affair with some soldiers behind his back. She wanted to become free from Luther.

So for that, she was drugging him. Slowly. She was making Luther mad, mentally unstable. And she was doing this for many years.

But one day, Luther found out about it and from that day on, Luther started his villain arc. The soldiers he killed were none other than the soldiers his wife was having an affair with.

Dilinger, Kony, Jeffrey, Whitey and Boris. These five people were having an affair with his wife so he decided to kill them.

Now you may ask, why did he go for Ted then? He had nothing to do with his wife. Well, he wanted to kill Ted because Ted knew his wife was a slut and Ted didn't reveal it to him because all those soldiers were his friends. Luther was angry at Ted for hiding it. That's why he wanted Ted dead.

So, I think he killed the soldiers for reasons we can understand. The soldiers were at fault so they died. I know it's taboo to kill in the military but I think the bigger taboo is to not punish the soldiers who wrong their own comrades. And Luther here punished the soldiers so that's why I think he should have an easy death. I hope it makes sense now."

Pablo finished telling another string of lies and when he finished, Luther shook his head and again dropped it on the ground.

The soldiers' finally found some conflicting thoughts about Luther. Now they weren't sure of their hatred anymore.

Harlia also contemplated for a while before asking :

"Do you have any proof for all these claims you are making?"

Pablo nodded.

"Remember the bottle of drugs we found near his wife's dead body?"

"Yeah?"

"Luther had placed it there himself. That was the same bottle his wife was using to drug him. He used that bottle against her. And my other proof is the last words of Ted. I don't think there should be any reason to not suspect Luther. The second Marshal Luther is the killer and the case is closed."

Pablo just wanted this topic to end and so did the soldiers.

All eyes were on Harlia now and she was taking a lot of time.

'She is overthinking.'

Pablo didn't have all day so he side eyed one of the soldiers standing on the ground.

The soldier saw it and like the man with a sharp brain he was, he understood what Pablo meant.

"Yeah. I think Luther deserves an easy death. I agree with the tenth Marshal!" The soldier yelled.

And after him, other soldiers also joined.

Pablo smiled. 'He is perfect as my subordinate.'

He was talking about Draxus of course.

The soldiers started chanting for an easy death and Harlia couldn't think for too long under the cheers of the soldiers.

In the end, she sighed.

"So be it. Easy death it is."

Pablo bowed his head.

"Thank you, Admiral."

Harlia waved her hands. "Stop that. And since you did everything…"

Harlia stretched her neck and nonchalantly passed the order.

"Do the honors of killing him too."
