Chapter 40: Divinity Versus Despair Part 2
The angel's glowing spear clashed against Dark Shin's relentless heat vision and overwhelming power. As they fought, it created explosions of light and sound that reverberated through the crumbling expanse of space. Fragments of debris from destroyed worlds orbited around them.
With each exchange of blows, the angel's divine energy seemed to grow stronger. Her movements became sharper, more precise, and her attacks carried a weight that even Dark Shin couldn't ignore. She darted through the void like a comet. Her wings started to glow with divine brilliance as she spun, struck, and parried his attacks. Her spear danced in her hands, deflecting heat vision blasts.
A powerful strike from her spear caught Dark Shin off guard, slamming into his chest and sending him hurtling backwards through the void. The impact cracked the armour on his torso. Crimson energy started leaking from the fractures.
The angel's voice rang out, defiant and resolute.
"I'll save him, no matter the cost!"
Dark Shin, floating amidst the void, stared down at his fractured armour plate for a moment before tilting his head back and letting out a deep, guttural laugh. It was a sound that carried through the ruined space like a venomous fog, dripping with malice and mockery.
"Losing?" he repeated, his voice a low, menacing growl. "You thought you were winning?"
His crimson eyes burned brighter, and his twisted grin widened.
"You're nothing more than a toy… a fragile, pathetic little doll dancing for my amusement."
Before the angel could react, Dark Shin raised his hand, and an immense surge of energy erupted from his palm. The crimson energy blast ripped through the void with terrifying speed, consuming everything in its path. Entire galaxies in the far distance were obliterated in an instant....
The angel darted to the side, narrowly avoiding the catastrophic blast. Her wings flared, propelling her through the destruction as she searched for an opening.
But Dark Shin was relentless. He fired blast after blast. Each blast erased entire sections of space-time with a mere flick of his wrist.
"You thought I was limited to brute force?" Dark Shin sneered. "Allow me to show you the true extent of my power."
The space around them began to shift unnaturally. The angel's surroundings twisted and warped, and the debris of destroyed worlds started reshaping into grotesque forms. Massive fragments of planets twisted into jagged spires that shot toward her like spears. A nearby star disintegrated, its light bending and swirling into a vortex that tried to pull her in.
Reality itself was coming undone.
Her wings flared, and she drove her spear into the void, releasing a shockwave of divine energy that shattered the approaching spires. She pulled herself free of the vortex, her expression grim but determined.
"This power… you're tampering with forces you don't understand!" she shouted, her voice trembling with urgency. "You'll destroy not just this galaxy, but all of this universe!"
"Good," Dark Shin hissed, his voice laced with malice. "Let it all burn."
With a wave of his hand, the crimson cracks in space widened, consuming what little remained of the shattered galaxies around them. Time itself seemed to stutter, and fragments of the past and future were bleeding into the present. The angel saw flickers of worlds that no longer existed and glimpses of stars yet to be born, all collapsing into the chaos.
She lunged forward, her spear aimed for his core. But Dark Shin caught the spear mid-strike, his hand gripping it tightly. Crimson energy surged through his hand, and with a flick of his wrist, he wrenched the weapon from her grasp and hurled it into the distance.
The angel gasped, her eyes widening. Before she could react, Dark Shin was already on her. His punches landed with the force of collapsing suns. She raised her arms to block, but the sheer power of his strikes drove her back. The cracks in her armour widened.
Dark Shin growled, his voice dripping with contempt. "You're nothing but an insect in front of me!"
He unleashed another devastating heat vision blast. The angel barely managed to dodge; the edge of the blast grazed her wing and tore through its ethereal feathers. She cried out in pain, her divine energy flickering as she struggled to stay aloft.
But she didn't give up.
Summoning every ounce of her remaining strength, she launched herself toward him. She struck with all her might, her blows landing on his chest, shoulders, and head. Each strike sent ripples of energy through the void, but Dark Shin barely flinched. He absorbed all the attacks.
"You're persistent for a bug", Dark Shin said, his tone almost amused.
He raised his hand again, and the debris around them began to spiral into a massive vortex of destruction. The angel found herself caught in the swirling chaos, her movements slowed down as the vortex pulled at her from all sides. Dark Shin hovered above her.
"You should've stayed in your little heaven," he sneered. "This is the end for you."
As the angel prepared herself for what seemed like certain defeat, she whispered, her voice resolute despite the pain, "My Goddess. Please, release me from my bindings..."
Her words were a prayer, a plea that resonated through the collapsing universe. And the response was immediate.
From the higher realm, a beam of divine light pierced the chaos, wrapping the angel in its radiant embrace. The light grew brighter, repairing the cracks in her armour and healing her broken wings. Her spear, which was damaged in the fight, reformed in her hand.
Dark Shin's grin faltered as he watched the transformation. "Now what is this?" he snarled, his crimson eyes narrowing.
The angel's body began to glow. A halo appeared on her head. Her wings spread wide. Each feather shimmered with the brilliance of a thousand suns.
"The seals have been released," she said, her voice no longer shaky. Her tone carried the weight of eternity itself, each word reverberating through the void. "You have toyed with chaos, darkness, and destruction long enough. It ends now."
Dark Shin roared, his fury shaking the very foundation of space-time. "You'll regret this!" he bellowed. "You'll regret ever standing against me!"
And with that, the battle reignited.
Their speed was incomprehensible. They moved faster than the human mind could ever perceive; it was faster than the speed of light. To an outside observer, they were nothing but blinding streaks of light colliding across the void.
Everything around them disintegrated in their wake.
"You think you can match me now?" the angel shouted, her voice carrying the authority of her divine form. "Even with all your stolen power, you are nothing compared to the light of the Goddess!"
Dark Shin smirked as he dodged a flurry of attacks. "Stolen power?" he repeated mockingly. "I am this power. And I'll use it to erase everything!"
He raised his hands, summoning a massive sphere of crimson energy. It pulsated with the energy of countless destroyed galaxies, a swirling mass of chaos that threatened to consume everything in its path.
With a roar, he hurled the sphere toward the angel. It moved with impossible speed, expanding as it travelled, consuming everything in its path.
The angel didn't flinch. Instead, she raised her spear and flew straight at the oncoming attack. Her wings propelled her forward with blinding speed, and her spear pierced the centre of the crimson sphere.
The resulting explosion was cataclysmic.
The shockwave rippled through the void. Cracks in space-time widened, and the fabric of reality trembled under the strain.
But when the light of the explosion faded, the angel still stood holding her spear. Through her divine energy shielded from the blast, but her breathing was already heavy,. Her armour showed signs of strain again.
Dark Shin snarled in frustration, his eyes blazing. He raised his hand as he summoned jagged, crimson constructs from the void. It was massive, blade-like projections that sliced through the fabric of existence. He directed them at the angel, each one moving with deadly precision.
The angel dodged and weaved through the onslaught, her spear spinning in her hands as she deflected the attacks. But the constructs kept coming.
"You've unleashed chaos upon chaos," the angel said, her voice unwavering even as she fought to keep up with the relentless assault. "But chaos will never prevail against the light."
She channeled her divine energy into her spear, and with a single, powerful strike, she shattered all the crimson constructs. The pieces dissolved into nothingness.
Dark Shin's smirk returned. "You're powerful, I'll admit," he said, his tone almost amused. "But you're still just a servant of the light. And light can be extinguished."
