Contract marriage: Her Obsession with my manhood

Chapter 13: 13- Clara following Abby

"Thank you for your lunch, sir." Clara appreciated Steven when they came out of the restaurant.

"Don't be formal with me," Steven dictated with a soft smile before opening the car door for her.

She simpered witnessing his kindness before getting inside the car. He then shut the car door and came to the driver's seat.

"I couldn't believe... He asked me not to be formal with him." She was enthusiastically screaming inside her thoughts.

Flashing a nervousness with desire, she interrogated, "If you don't want me to be formal with you, how did I address you?"

"Call me Steven," he casually said, starting the engine.

Her whole face bloomed with a broad smile. Despite that, she politely smiled, conceding, "Okay, Steven."

She side-eyed to get a glimpse of his reaction. Expectedly, he spilled a shy smile.

"He's smiling," she felt felicity.

After lunch, everyone returned to the workplace.

Since Abby ate a lot of spicy food, she felt her head spinning. She couldn't even bring focus to her computer screen. So she excused herself to have a cup of tea.

In the hall, she was forced to encounter Duri.

"Abby?"

Abby was stunned, forgetting to step forward.

"Are you here for a coffee?" He asked once after sipping a coffee.

She gave a forced smile, embarrassed.

She came and took the instant coffee powder. His fingers also landed on that same powder pocket.

Abby gave a confused look while Duri's was reasonable.

"Let me help you," he said, getting a hold of it once her hand made a distance from his fingers, which was about to harass hers.

"It's okay. I can help myself," she said, picking up another coffee powder pocket.

Duri dropped his eye down in wretchedness.

Abby's heart continued to throb as she thought, "What to do now? He kept trying to build a conversation."

"Abby," Duri stepped forward and almost approached her. Her ring slightly flickered with blue rays.

"Abby!" Steven's voice earned both Duri's and Abby's attention.

Duri's hand stopped midway, and the flickering ring came back to normal.

"What are you trying to do to my wife?" Steven gripped Duri's wrist and distanced it from Abby as Abby blinked in conflict.

"It's not like that, sir." Duri tried to prove his innocence.

"Aren't you the one who rejected my beloved wife?" Steven questioned, mockingly wrapping his hands over Abby's shoulder as she stirred the coffee.

Duri sighed.

Abby gave a disgusted glance at Steven, noticing him trying to be a good husband outside.

Observing her, Duri smelled something wrong in their relationship.

"I have to ask one thing." Duri declared.

"Go on!" Steven permitted with the proud look, pulling Abby closer to his body.

"I want to talk to you alone," Duri proclaimed, firmly fixing his gaze at Abby.

"I won't go anywhere. I'm her husband." Steven purposely acted rude to him.

Abby kept quiet, letting Steven perform.

"Then your wish!" Duri talked informally and looked at Abby before querying, "Are you two living under the same roof with the terms and conditions, which means contractual marriage, aren't you?"

Abby's brain slipped to function while Steven's dragged down his eyebrows in edginess.

"So it's true!" Duri confirmed it, judging their expression.

Not to delay, his hand voluntarily stretched towards Abby's shoulder and kicked Steven's hands away, affirming, "You have no right to lay hands on her, sir!"

Abby stood frozen.

Steven sighed as if Duri's sarcastic behavior piqued his irritation. "Who the hell are you to say that?" Steven growled.

"I'm her friend." Duri asserted. There was confidence; his eyes flushed out.

"Who is whose friend?" Abby raged.

Duri's confidence smashed into pieces, which drew a spectacle of happiness in Steven's face.

"We aren't friends anymore!" Abby yelled and walked off them without even giving them time to respond.

"It's you! You have no right to meddle with her life." Steven chuckled scornfully and followed Abby, taking her coffee, which she forgot to bring with her.

Just when she was about to enter her office, he handed her coffee, saying, "You forgot your coffee!"

A leaden sigh whirled out her lips, looking at the coffee cup.

Clara's face turned envious watching them.

"Don't drink coffee often," he advised her before leaving.

She then went inside, unaware of Clara's despair dripping glaze at her.

White clouds reflected lavender mixed with orangy colors, covering the sun.

Levi opened the car door for Abby.

Abby refused to get in, informing him, "I have other things to take care of."

"Then let me drop there, madam." He requested.

"Who is she? Why are they treating her special?" Clara questioned herself while watching them from standing at the entrance hall.

"No thanks. I have to deal with it alone." Abby walked off from there leaving Levi to be confused.

He dialed Steven immediately and informed him about it.

Clara flared suspicious-shaded curiosity at Abby as she walked along the roadside.

With a slackened shoulder, she crossed the road. Clara followed her.

Abby messaged Annie, "Let's meet at the bar!"
