Chapter 15: Confused
A dream... or was it reality?
The ink was still drying on the diary pages when Velmir opened his eyes. But the words... remained:
[The Seeker]
He didn't know what "Soultrails" meant.
But his thought... sharper, lucid, unlike before.
And for the first day since he arrived in this world, he felt watched. A gaze - somewhere above. Not hostile, but heavy. Unblinking.
Though the only words that linger in his head.
"Myths." - His eyes widened as he stared at the faintly glowing golden mark on his palm.
"Myth...mythweavers?"
He spoke out loud and touched the mark with his hand. "Fizz" - The diary vanished to his surprise, and when he thought about it for a second. "Pop"
"I... can control it?" - The diary once again appeared in front of him, floating like it was. But this time, it showed something else...
[Owner:______]
The name couldn't be seen, but the intention was clear.
"Velmir... Seo Wero." - He hesitated. But then he spoke unconsciously of.
The moment his words came out.
the world cracked. Space folded in on itself. The walls feel like ash as the floor became water - and above him stars emerged, brighter than ever.
However, this time, the stars weren't random
A pattern of stars was formed and lit up more clearly than ever as his diary slowly changed.
Its ink shifted into silver, its page thickening into something... more ancient.
The reflection of the sky, stars, and space - flowed like tears and wrapped around the diary, melting the cover to the combination of them.
As the final star settled into the cover, the world reserved and the realm rewound itself.
Velmir stood there.
Breathless, almost as an his instinct. He picked up the same book he'd left unread the day before... Only now, it felt important.
Page after page, in a hurry, he tried to find any clue that he could use, and nothing was on there. Except... that line.
"As the stars lead their way to the humans."
The lines shimmered and then disappeared from his mind.
Velmir sat still, and silence returned. No more stars, no more thoughts, no more diary. Just the weight of something that pressed into his soul, like a mark carved into it.
He closed the book, looking at the ceiling in curiosity.
"...I need answers." He whispered, only for himself.
His mind searched for clues... and all paths led to one name: "Magister Leiny."
[The next morning]
Sunlight filled the hallway, breathing life into the ancient walls as Velmir walked gently.
He dressed up in the uniform while his mark had stopped glowing and disappeared... instead, it felt warm - like something was always waiting to be activated.
Through the hallway, the laughter, the footsteps, the sound of insects. Doors opening and shutting were all captured in his mind.
"It's this room."
"Office 35. Functional Hall."
Velmir stood in front of the door, adjusting his tie. He looked at the wooden door - dark, cold, ancient, with many lines sculpted onto it, as though it was created for a reason.
Without hesitation, he twisted the handle "Click".
Inside, a big window was on the opposite wall of the room, and to the left was a large bookshelf.
In the middle, sofas and a table with countless papers on them, and finally, the working desk.
Velmir went in as he took a look at the furniture in the room and stopped his gaze at the desk.
"She's not there?" - On the working chair, there was nobody.
Velmir sighed for a bit, with disappointment carved onto his face, but when he decided to turn back... he saw something.
"A mark on the map?" - He wondered and went closer to it.
It was a red mark, like a destination to a treasure.
"It's on the... Corrupted Territory?" - Velmir paused for a second, and he looked at the middle of the map.
"The Fallen Land of Gods...I've heard that elves live there... This place is also connected to the Forbidden Continent in the Northeast. I wonder why it's called that."
His finger drifted northeast. Then paused, lowering toward...
"The Caelis Empire... It's our human civilization...And the Frost Wild...our academy is located between these two."
His voice dropped as he looked at the last place on Southeast.
"The Corrupted Territory... The only place that is separated from the others."
He didn't know why, yet he read all of them aloud as his heart beat faster than ever, just like he was told to do something.
But when he was still lost in thought, a sound broke the moment.
"Click" - It was Magister Leiny. She closed the door and looked at Velmir while going to the chair.
"Need help?"
Leiny asked with her hands holding a book. In her voice, there was something... a feeling of "surpassing" and yet, Velmir somehow sensed it.
Through his heart, the voice echoed continuously inside himself as though it had lingered in his soul. His hands shook for a second, but he hid them behind him just in time.
Velmir was stunned as he felt that his mark was glowing. However, he had managed to act like a curious person and distract her from his resonance.
"You were curious about the map?" - She started to ask first, while Velmir waited for a bit, and replied.
"Only a little, Magister. I'm wondering about the stars."
Having heard the word "stars", Leiny's eyebrows twitched slightly, and her gaze swept over the innocent face of Velmir.
Velmir, on the other hand... had seen everything. "...stars, they have meaning..." - A thought popped into his mind as he kept acting normally.
Leiny, after a moment, smiled faintly as she put her finger on the table. Windows closed, and the wind swirled nonstop in the room, lanterns lit up, and the atmosphere became more mysterious with the purple lights.
She knocked on the door, and immediately a seal was put up around the room while she slowly caught a floating book.
"I don't know if it's a coincidence or... It's your purpose."
"Place within the top ten in the survival test, and I'll show you the chain scripts."
