Chapter 12: Magic
The magister, after hearing the words, stopped. "No mythweaver will reveal their way." - She replied back, with a very faint smile appearing on the corner of her lip as she continued to go out of the class.
"Mythweaver... I've heard about them..." - Velmir, in a serious manner, thought.
Still, he quickly stood up and decided to go somewhere to learn.
"Hey, are you stupid or something? Watch where you're going!" - A contemptuous voice was rendered from behind. It was the group of five.
Velmir quickly turned around. "0035... it was that girl, is she... being bullied?" - He wondered, but as time he thought, he heard a whisper.
"Zeon, I saw this girl come out of a cheap rented apartment." - One of the guys told the son of "Earl Bathon". With the information Zeon Bathon had received, he mocked the girl and threw 5 pennies at her before turning away.
Velmir's gaze sharpened, yet his soul trembled. Guilt twisted in his chest like a coiled snake. She was crying - he felt it, no. Pleading - still, he turned away. "I'm not a part of this world... not anymore..." - But for a moment, he turned his head back and their eyes met.
Her eyes were filled with pain, hoping to find its light, so she tried in despair.
"Help me..." - He couldn't hear it, yet he knew she said it, just like that time... He lied to himself as if it were the medicine for him to find peace by turning away. He didn't see her reactions, but he knew.
Having to open the door quickly, Velmir went to the library to get the starter book and returned to his rented apartment with two more books about mythweaver and Ignis cultivation.
However, his fingers had never stopped shaking. The image of her haunted him like a shadow slowly eroding him.
In the inn, Velmir closed the door violently, hating himself, hating his vulnerability. "Why? Why did I run...?" - Each word was a thorn, nailing into his heart.
He smashed the door, like an untamed beast, but when he was about to harm himself, a divine voice lulled him, "Sleep... lost child." - As he heard it, the mysterious blue sparks appeared, time seemed to have paused, and he felt... like he had always heard it....
...
...
...
On the cold ground, Velmir slowly regained consciousness. "Ah, how did I sleep?" - After some hours, he woke up without being aware of his old actions as if he didn't remember anything. "It's already this dark outside?...Ah... I have to read some books first." - Velmir, who had just woken up, then took out his book and read.
"Cognitive heart...I've completed. Should I try stage 2? The past month has improved my muscles." - Velmir thought, leaning against the bed as he took the book out and read.
"Math...Physics...Chemistry... Music? What?"
"Math grants you shape..."
"Physics and Chemistry evolve you."
"Music let it flow."
"Temperament is the key."
"What does that mean...?"
Velmir didn't understand the intention of this book, so he rubbed the back of his head in curiosity as he repeated what his teacher said.
"Power of soul, will, and knowledge?... Knowledge... knowledge."
His eyes opened immediately as if he knew the answer. He closed the book and whispered.
"What if... I apply the formula to magic in this world? Is that what this book means?"
His eyes shone as he now found the key to becoming stronger! "All the formulas I've learnt... geometry, elemental reactions... I can use them!" - Velmir spoke out loud as he raised one of his hands and used the other one to put on it.
Suddenly, a pain came out of nowhere..."I...Have I learnt those?... I've learnt it..." - Velmir started sweating as the pain interrupted him. Still, he managed to do it unconsciously.
In front of him, an Ignis aerodynamic shape had been created. "Huh...? What is this shape...Why did I form it?" - He asked as if he didn't know what he had managed to create.
Once again, he let his instinct lead the way. Velmir then tried to compress it to put as much as he could, forming it into a smaller version full of Ignis. By doing so, he found out that his vision was getting weaker and weaker over time, but he ignored it for now and focused on his actions.
Velmir gasped as he focused on the center of his creation. Through his fingers, Ignis was poured out, and it entered the center of his magic.
"Behold, nuclear bomb No.1" - He muttered proudly, then frowned. "No...That sounds too terroisty... Eh, forget it, I'll give it a name if i survive. In the blink of an eye, he tightened his hand, and the magic exploded.
It felt like a blast, even though it didn't cause too much damage; he could see the potential. His eyes were lit up as he soared with joy. "I found it... my power!" - Each word contained a tremble in it as the man tightened his hand and slowly regained his vision in silence.
However, unlike the Ignis' cost to control elements, his newfound power used double the normal amount, and it wasn't effective at all. Still, he found a light. "Even if it had two downsides, it's still my power!
"If I can compress it more, it would be a rival to elements!" - Just as then, he had a theory. "If the more knowledge I had, the more Ignis capacity I receive, could this mean..." - He muttered and put his hand on his heart to feel the flowing Ignis.
Through his veins, he felt his heart. It releases Ignis over and over as if it were infinite. Hope filled his mind, he opened his eyes and looked at the falling night sky.
"So this is the power of studying... I thought mom was lying to me all the time."
After a minute, he stood up, lay on the bed, and took out another book. It was a book for freshmen. He then proceeded to open it and read it out loud.
"Ways to rank?... survival test?" - Velmir read it in confusion.
"If everyone can graduate... why must there be a ranking list...? This is odd, something... is not right..." - A quick analysis. He thought and thought, then came to a conclusion. "It has to be...."
After Velmir completed his analysis, he chose to sleep. "I felt lonely..." - The words spoken out like a baby bird first took its flight. Alone in the room, he curled up; he wasn't the protagonist that this world needed; he was just a boy, a boy who lived without a home. "Pop" - The sound of a glowed light on his left palm, it appeared just a moment before he closed his eyes.
"Splash splash." The sound of water - "What is it...?" He slowly woke up, as the world he had just been in now was changed to a new one filled with stars; it was that realm.
However, this time, he wasn't scared. Instead, he looked around, like a friend trying to find his brother. "Velmir!" - He quickly ran to the light as he shouted out.
"....He slumbered?" - Seo Wero went closer as he spoke. He didn't know why he was in this place again, so he chose to sit next to "Velmir" and talk to him in a deep, depressing voice.
"Velmir...I know it's hurt...watching someone else live your life... but I promise you. I'll bring you back, I won't let you disappear. Even if stars fall, I'll bear it for you..." - He paused, sighed for a moment, and continued.
"I'll come back to my home soon, right.... Velmir?" - Seo Wero asked the unmoved figure.
"I'll see my friends...soon...right...?" - The moment he ended in silence, a voice echoed through the realm.
"It's not the time..." - An ancient voice, liberating the whole world, as if it were the real ruler of this dimension.
...
...
...
"Ah...!" - Velmir surged upright, trying to catch a breath. "How did I get there..." - Velmir's voice fell deep, just like he was questioning his own nature. However, he felt something.
In an instance, he pulled his left hand and looked at his left palm. The mark glowed, and it formed a new structure. "Waves?" - He unconsciously said. Velmir's mark now grew into a strange pattern, circles, lines, and currents.
All was formed without a trace. He was speechless, the mark that had stopped forming for one month now started its resonance.
Still, he decided to uncover its secret in the future as he had to go to class. Velmir hastily went out of the inn and ran to the academy. Nevertheless, in a dark corner, someone... is watching him.
"Orion..." - The person spoke in a weak voice and turned away, revealing their scales.
As for Velmir, after running in a hurry, he came to class just in time, but he saw something. The group of five slapped the 0035 girl in the face while cursing her, leaving the helpless girl on the ground.
"No - why is it so blurry....?" - Velmir staggered, clutching the wall, trying not to collapse while the memory of the past day had come back. His head throbbed as a fragment of memories crawled its way to the surface.
The same scene, the same cruelty, the same...mistake.
"Why didn't you stop it? Why!?" - The accusation didn't come anywhere else, it came within, tearing Velmir's insanity apart, like a judge came to decide a prisoner's guilt.
