Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Kill Arlong, Exterminate the Rats (Part 1)
Nami's fierce glare and bared teeth instantly froze the three men in their tracks.
Sakuragi Hanamichi was naturally impulsive, Gintoki Sakata was simply used to it, and Su Xiaoqi… well, he turned his eyes toward Zhu Zhuqing.
As the saying goes, comparison leads to preference. Nami and Zhu Zhuqing were polar opposites in personality, and if Su Xiaoqi had to choose, he'd go with Zhu Zhuqing without hesitation. Nami's temperament was just too much for him.
Seeing the three of them behave, Nami gave a satisfied nod, then turned to Zhu Zhuqing and smiled, "Did you see that, Sister Zhuqing? This is how men should be handled. If it weren't our first time meeting, my iron fist would've already taught them a lesson."
Zhu Zhuqing didn't respond. She could occasionally act a little playful, but being as forceful as Nami? That simply wasn't her style.
Off to the side, Lu Linglong covered her mouth with a chuckle and looked at Gintoki Sakata, asking, "Gin-san, how does my outfit look today?"
She was still wearing her usual white T-shirt with a teddy bear print, paired with blue denim shorts.
The moment she asked, Gintoki immediately shifted back into his unserious mode. "Linglong-chan, you look exactly like my first love. I mean exactly—I think I might be falling in love all over again."
Lu Linglong tried hard to hold back her laughter and continued teasing, "If I'm your first love, then what about Nami? Didn't you say she was your favorite when you joined the group?"
Gintoki replied without missing a beat, "Nami-chan was my first crush. You know, back when Gin-san was young and full of love for the world."
BAM! Nami's iron fist came crashing down on Gintoki's head.
"Who the hell is your 'first crush,' you damn dead-fish-eyed freak?!"
"Hahaha! Gin-san, you're hilarious!"
Lu Linglong couldn't hold it in any longer and burst into laughter, while Zhu Zhuqing's lips curled into a rare smile.
"Come on now," Gintoki muttered, rubbing his head. "Gin-san wasn't made to be played with. But if we're gonna play, let's play some grown-up games instead."
Ahem... Su Xiaoqi cleared his throat. "How about we talk about our strategy for dealing with Arlong and his crew? If we keep goofing around, we'll run out of time. I've been itching for a real fight."
"Ah! I almost forgot!" Nami yelped. She had gotten caught up in the banter herself. With a glare at Gintoki, she snapped, "It's all your fault, you dead-fish-eyed white-haired bastard!"
Su Xiaoqi's mouth twitched. Poor Gintoki had just earned himself yet another nickname.
After a brief but efficient strategy session, the team came to an agreement:
Su Xiaoqi and Gintoki Sakata would take care of Arlong and his three main lieutenants.
Lu Linglong and Zhu Zhuqing would handle the rest of the fishmen crew while also protecting Nami and Sakuragi Hanamichi.
"Nami, lead the way," Su Xiaoqi urged, practically brimming with anticipation.
His previous fights—with Zhao Wuji, for example—had been more like sparring. Zhao hadn't even gone all-out, and his match with Zhu Zhuqing had only been a friendly bout.
But this one—this was going to be a real fight, a true test of life and death, and the perfect chance to assess his current strength.
Under Nami's guidance, the group quickly reached the Arlong Pirates' base—Arlong Park.
Lu Linglong eyed the two strange-looking fishmen guarding the gate and said, "These two are ours, right Zhuqing? No stealing our targets."
After effortlessly taking them out, Sakuragi Hanamichi shouted in awe, "You two are amazing! That was way better than any street fight I've been in!"
Su Xiaoqi chuckled. "Sakuragi, killing and brawling are two completely different things. And besides, their opponents were too weak."
These guards were just ordinary fishmen. Their only edge was their physical strength, and even that was only really useful underwater. On land, they were barely stronger than the average person.
Lu Linglong turned to Zhu Zhuqing with a smile. "Not bad, Sister Zhuqing."
Zhu Zhuqing humbly shook her head. "I'm still far from your level."
Su Xiaoqi and Gintoki stepped up to the main gate, exchanged a glance, and simultaneously kicked it open. The wooden doors were blasted off their hinges with a loud crash.
Inside, the Arlong Pirates—who had been partying—were startled by the sudden intrusion. They all turned toward the source of the noise with furious eyes.
Sitting on a rattan chair was a shark fishman with a long, jagged nose—Arlong himself.
"Sha-ha-ha-ha-ha!" Arlong laughed. "Well, well, look who it is. Nami… seems like you've forgotten the rules around here."
"Gin-san, I'll leave the three officers to you. Show me what you've got," Su Xiaoqi said casually before charging straight at Arlong. He had no time for pointless chatter.
"Hey! You shameless bastard! You didn't wait for the signal!" Gintoki cursed. "Get back here, damn it!"
No one—not even Arlong—expected Su Xiaoqi to attack so suddenly. By the time they reacted, he was already right in front of Arlong.
Without hesitation, Su Xiaoqi threw a punch that sent Arlong flying straight off his chair.
"Boss Arlong!"
Seeing their captain get knocked across the room, the rest of the fishmen roared in fury and charged at Su Xiaoqi with weapons in hand.
Gintoki stepped in with his wooden sword, engraved with the words Lake Toya, and blocked their path with a scowl. "Hey, don't ignore Gin-san here. I want my share of points too!"
Lu Linglong strolled over with a grin. "Now, now, Gin-san. Don't be greedy. Your targets are the three officers. The rest are ours—mine and Zhuqing's."
On the other side, the Arlong Pirates were fuming. One of the officers, Kuroobi, snarled, "That guy is for Boss Arlong. Let's take out the white-haired freak first—he doesn't look like anything special anyway."
"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!"
Gintoki exploded. He could take teasing from the girls in the chat group—because they were cute—but being looked down on by some stinky fish was too much.
Gone was the jokester. His expression turned cold and serious.
"Gin-san has decided—you're going down first, fish-face."
Meanwhile, Su Xiaoqi was growing more and more shocked the longer he fought Arlong.
Not because Arlong was powerful—on the contrary, he seemed... weak.
To Su Xiaoqi, Arlong's attacks looked like they were in slow motion, and every move was full of exploitable openings.
BOOM! With another heavy punch, Su Xiaoqi sent Arlong flying into a wall, leaving a massive dent.
Staring at the crumpled figure and the ruined wall, Su Xiaoqi had a sudden realization: It's not that Arlong is weak… I've gotten stronger.
Arlong got back up, wiping the blood from his mouth. His bloodshot eyes blazed with fury.
"Human… whatever your reason for being here, you've officially pissed me off."
Fishmen were supposed to be physically superior to humans by several times. Even though that punch had hurt, Arlong didn't consider it serious. If anything, it only awakened his bloodlust.
He charged forward with terrifying speed, but Su Xiaoqi merely smiled and lightly leapt over him, launching a ferocious counterattack.
Su Xiaoqi mimicked every aspect of Goku's combat style—from movement to footwork to striking techniques. Without a mentor, this was the fastest way for him to improve.
Of course, he also began weaving in Flight and Ki Blasts into the fight, gradually building his real-combat experience.
Arlong, poor soul, still had no idea he had become a live training dummy. All he could do was wonder why this "lowly human" had such monstrous power—and moves he'd never seen even on the Grand Line.
"Who… what are you?!"
Arlong gasped for breath. His once-prideful nose was now crooked, and his body was covered in bruises and fist marks.
Su Xiaoqi smiled. "As you can see… I'm just an ordinary human. My name is Gintoki Sakata."
