1. Summon from the Mysterious Rift.
│3rd Person POV │
[Douluo Continent, Heaven Dou Empire, Heaven Dou City, Dugu Mansion...]
The Douluo Continent was a magical world.
In this world, every Human possesses a Martial Soul. Martial Soul can be anything, a plant, an object, a tool, etc.
After growing to six years old, the Humans have the opportunity to awaken their Martial Soul. Among them, very few people have Soul Power after awakening their Martial Soul.
These people can become Soul Masters.
The most noble profession is Soul Master because Soul Masters have powers that ordinary people couldn't even imagine. Ordinary people respect and fear Soul Masters, and they yearn to become Soul Masters.
Whether one can become Soul Master or not, depends on whether they have Soul Power after awakening their Martial Soul. With Innate Soul Power, people can cultivate and have the chance to become a true Soul Master.
Innate Soul Power refers to the quantity of Soul Power a person possesses before having their Marital Soul awakened. In almost all cases, Innate Soul Power is indicative of a person's potential, as those with higher Innate Soul Power have faster Cultivation speed compared to those with lower Innate Soul Power and it also determines the height people can reach.
"Innate Soul Power, even if I don't have something like the Mysterious Heaven Treasure to cultivate before awakening my Martial Soul, I should have it, right?"
A young child of about five years old muttered to himself while running along the perimeter of the huge mansion.
"After all, I have been training my body for the past few weeks and I also eat plenty of high quality food everyday. Additionally, I am the son of Dugu Xin and the grandson of Dugu Bo, Dugu Chen. So I should have inherited some of their talent, right?"
This child was called Dugu Chen. He was a reincarnated person who had awakened his previous life's memories just a few weeks ago.
He was five years old at the moment, just a few months short of his sixth birthday.
After awakening his memories, he took stock of his current situation and realized that he was now just a small child in the Douluo Continent, an incredibly amazing but dangerous world.
Not to mention he was the grandson of Dugu Bo, the future Poison Douluo. This fact held a significant value to him because it meant that he was born while already being poisoned.
His hair was green from birth, just like his father, Dugu Xin, indicating his terribly poisonous status.
If he didn't have Soul Power, then he wouldn't be able to cultivate and would die young, without getting any chance to enjoy his second chance at life.
That was the main reason that Dugu Chen started his physical training from the moment he understood his situation, not caring that the training would have any adverse effect on his young body.
Because, if he did have Innate Soul Power, then just by getting stronger and growing his Soul Power level, his body would grow without any problem. However, if he didn't awaken any Innate Soul Power, then it wouldn't matter if he harmed his body because he would die soon enough anyway.
"Chennn~ Chennn~!"
Just as Dugu Chen finished his run, he heard a tiny voice calling his name. He turned around and saw a little girl, maybe a little over a year old, running towards him with her short red hair bouncing in the breeze.
"Chennn~, play?" she asked, looking up at him with her big green eyes and a hopeful grin.
Dugu Chen immediately crouched down to her level and smiled. "Sure, Yan Yan! Let's play!"
With that, he lifted her up and placed her on his shoulder, and started walking toward the mansion, her joyful giggles echoing around them.
Meanwhile, two people quietly watched the scene between the kids from one of the second-floor windows, both wearing small smiles.
As the children disappeared from their view, the older one's smile was replaced by a look of absolute determination.
"Don't worry, Xin'er. It won't be long before I breakthrough to Rank 90. Then, neither you nor my grandchildren will have to suffer from any poison."
The younger one nodded his head and replied, "I know, Father. I have absolute faith in you."
=+=+=+=< Scene Change >=+=+=+=
One early morning, Dugu Chen was peacefully sleeping in his room when suddenly, his sleep was broken and he opened his eyes abruptly.
He glanced around the room but didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
"What's happening?" He wondered aloud and looked out of the window. He saw that the Sun had just risen over the horizon, meaning that it was well before the time he usually woke up.
At that moment, something within him was urging him to go in a particular direction. He couldn't figure out what was happening, so he immediately bolted out of the room while calling out loudly, "Grandpa! Grandpa!"
Just as he crossed his room, he came face to face with his Grandfather.
"What's wrong, Chen'er?" Dugu Bo asked with a stern expression on his face. He had just finished his cultivation session and returned home, only to feel his grandson's unstable emotions when he habitually checked the area within and around the Dugu Mansion with his Spiritual Power.
Dugu Chen looked his grandfather in the eye and answered, "Grandpa, something is urging me to head in that direction." He pointed toward the direction of Sunset Forest while answering Dugu Bo's question.
Dugu Bo's expression turned livid upon hearing this. He immediately thought that someone was using a Soul Ring ability on his grandson to lure him out of the Mansion.
After all, there were plenty of people who wanted to harm him but didn't have the strength to do so. If given the chance, they wouldn't hesitate to take action against his family.
The next moment, Dugu Bo unleashed the full might of his Spiritual Power and tried to find the 'culprit'.
However, he didn't find anything unusual in the vicinity of Dugu Mansion. For a moment, he thought that the other party was stronger than him, either capable of hiding themself from his Spiritual Power or they were targeting Dugu Chen from beyond his range.
But he shook his head and dispelled that thought because it wouldn't make sense for them to target Dugu Chen if they were stronger than him.
"Chen'er, go back to your room. I will come back in a moment."
Hearing his grandfather's instructions, Dugu Chen immediately retreated to his room without any protest.
Dugu Bo, on the other hand, exited Dugu Mansion and started meticulously searching the surrounding area. When he still didn't find anything amiss, he expanded his scope, combing through the entirety of Heaven Dou City in the span of a few hours.
His actions inevitably attracted the attention of Heaven Dou Royal Family and the Spirit Hall.
However, even when Salas, the Platinum Bishop of Spirit Hall, came to inquire about his actions, Dugu Bo didn't stop and continued his search.
Only after not finding anything suspicious within the Heaven Dou City did he stop and go back to his home. Before leaving, he only said a single sentence in the form of an explanation for his bizarre act, "Someone is targeting my Grandson. I was just searching for the culprit."
The Royal Guards who have come to investigate the situation and the Platinum Bishop were unsure of how to react to this. In the end, they didn't pursue the matter right then. Instead, both parties decided to report this incident to their superiors.
Meanwhile, Dugu Chen followed his grandfather's instruction and didn't leave his room until he returned, he didn't even go to the Mansion's courtyard to train his physique. However, the sense of something urging him to go toward the Sunset Forest didn't diminish in the slightest.
On the contrary, as time passed, the feeling grew increasingly stronger. It took all his willpower to ignore the feeling.
Just as he felt like he couldn't hold on any longer, Dugu Bo returned.
"Chen'er, are you still feeling the urge?" Dugu Bo immediately asked upon entering the room.
Beside Dugu Chen, his mother, father, and little sister were also present in the room. They got to know Dugu Chen's bizarre situation when his mother, Mo Ying, came to check up on him after he skipped training.
Dugu Chen nodded in response to his grandfather's question and replied in a somewhat strained voice, "Grandpa, the urgent feeling has increased so much. My head is hurting badly."
"Father, do you know what's happening to Chen'er?" Mu YIng asked with a distraught expression, not being able to see her son suffer so much without any cause.
Beside My Ying, Dugu Xin didn't say anything, however, his anxious gaze directed toward his father conveyed his feelings very clearly.
With a heavy heart, Dugu Bo answered with a shake of his head, "I don't know."
In his mind, Dugu Bo was thinking about who or what could target his grandson in such a strange manner. Why were they tormenting Dugu Chen in such a manner?
Dugu Bo had made plenty of enemies during his journey to reach the Titled Douluo Rank, however, he couldn't think of anyone who had such bizarre and sinister capabilities.
"Don't worry, Xin'er, Ying'er—!!"
"Grandpa, please take me to the Sunset Forest."
Just as Dugu Bo was about to say some words of reassurance to his Son and Daughter-in-Law, he was interrupted by Dugu Chen's abrupt request.
"What?! Absolutely not!" Before he could refuse, his Daughter-in-Law did it in his stead, "You aren't going anywhere. Who knows what sinister and evil thing is causing you such distress."
"Mother, if I don't go, I feel like this feeling will become more intense. I can't endure this anymore. I have to go. Please, Grandpa, take me to the Sunset Forest."
Hearing his grandson's heartfelt plea, Dugu Bo stepped forward and sat beside him. Placing his hand on Dugu Chen's forehead, he attempted to diagnose his grandson's condition through his Spiritual Power. Through this, he quickly found out that Dugu Chen's meager Spiritual Power was fluctuating wildly. It felt like it could explode at any moment.
Immediately, Dugu Bo broke out in cold sweat, fearing that if his grandson didn't heed the call, his Spiritual Power would explode and his consciousness would dissipate, rendering him brain-dead.
He quickly scooped up his grandson in his arms and rushed out while saying, "I am taking Chen'er to the Sunset Forest. Don't worry, Xin'er, Ying'er. Even if I die today, I won't let anything happen to my grandson."
In just a few minutes, Dugu Bo brought Dugu Chen out of the city and into the Sunset Forest. Dugu Chen also felt that the intensity of the urge reduced significantly. He immediately reported this to his grandfather.
Dugu Bo employed his Spiritual Power to check his grandson again and he couldn't help but release a sigh of relief upon finding out that Dugu Chen's Spiritual Power wasn't fluctuating as intensely as before.
After that, Dugu Bo took his grandson deeper into the forest.
As they got to the part of Sunset Forest where the 1,000-Year Soul Beasts live, Dugu Chen suddenly pointed toward a valley.
Following Dugu Chen's lead, the grandfather and grandson duo headed into the valley and soon stumbled upon a rift floating in the air.
Dugu Bo carefully peeked inside after setting his grandson down and spotted a Herb Garden on the other side. He didn't see anything that could pose any danger to himself or his grandson, however, he didn't let his guard down.
Because this was the first time he had encountered something like this. Additionally, he was sure this rift had not been there in the valley before as he had previously ventured into this valley and didn't encounter this valley.
"Chen'er, are you sure that you are getting urged to go in there?"
"Mhm," Dugu Chen nodded and stepped up next to his grandfather, getting a closer look at the rift and what was on the other side.
Upon noticing this, Dugu Bo stepped forward and cautiously moved his left hand toward the rift. Even when it hovered right in front of it, nothing happened. Then, wrapping his hand in a layer of Soul Power, he pushed it into the rift. Still, nothing happened. Letting out a deep breath, Dugu Bo slowly pulled the Soul Power back into his body.
…
Sigh~!
Dugu Bo released a sigh of relief when nothing happened to his hand.
Then, he brought his hand back and firmed up his resolve. Picking up his grandson, Dugu Bo muttered, "Let's do this."
Whether he was encouraging himself or his grandson or both of them, only Duug Bo knew.
"Yes, Grandpa!" Dugu Chen responded with a similar look of determination on his face.
The next moment, the grandson and grandfather crossed the rift. The valley returned to its previous tranquility.

A/N: Well, here's the First Chapter of a Douluo Dalu Fic.
I have read numerous DD fic where the MC easily befriends Dugu Bo when in the original, he gave a pretty hard time to Tang San before their friendship blossomed.
'If you want to make their interaction so soft and harmonious, why not make it so that the MC is Dugu Bo's grandson? That way, you would have some justification for the Poison Douluo's easygoing nature toward the MC.' This thought crossed my mind while reading one day.
Then, I thought, why don't I write such a Fanfic? So, here it is.
I hope you guys will enjoy this.
Also, I don't like Tang San. So expect some minor bashing here and there.
And yeah, needless to say, I don't own Douluo Dalu and its sequences and side stories.
If you see any mistakes, please don't hesitate to point it out.
If you like this, then please give it some Power Stones, Save it in your Library, and Post a Review if you feel like doing it.
