Chapter 9: CHAPTER 9: RUNAWAY

Davis was sorry for what he did to his friend but because of his hard nature he didn't set him free. He made sure everything his friend said was true before making an attempt to set him free.

Davis: (He was in his room, on his bed. He had freed his friend and took him to the hospital for treatment) So all what I've been through is all because of my stepmom. I've been struggling so much in life. So many ups and downs, my life has been so rough but even at that she's still after my life, I have to put an end to her once and for all. I can't die two times.

Meanwhile, Cassandra was in her room, on her bed thinking about what she had the guards saying.

Cassandra: (thinking to herself) So Davis kills people? He's a very bad man, I'll unravel all his uncovered secrets oneday. I shall be his end, an end to all the evil he has done to the people of the state. He has married his doom.

At her home, they were still finding it hard to make their mom remember them as her children. They had tried all sort but to no avail. Their brother Andrew, who went out had not come back and it was raising concern for all of them including their dad who at first didn't care much. He sent Carlos to look for his brother. Carlos wasn't worried because he knew all the places his bother went if he was feeling down, so he went to the first place, he didn't see him, went to the second then the third and fourth till he searched all the places that came to mind. But this time he didn't see his brother, it was as if he didn't want anyone to look for him.

Andrew was at bar far away in the country side, he wanted to cool off from all the tension in the city, he was drunk and sober. He couldn't make any meaning for the life he was living without his sister, he can't concentrate in school anymore, to a point he has stopped making A's. He's now the laughing stock of his classmates. Everyone at school is laughing and making jest of him and his family, he is always fighting in school and outside school, he's tired of fighting and always defending his family. But he has no other choice, he was still in deep thought when an old man tap him from the back, he came back to reality. He was shocked when he turned and saw the old man, it was if he knew the oil man from somewhere.

Old man: Young lad, what brought you to a desolate place like this? What are you thinking about?

Andrew: ( Confused and couldn't answer the man for the while) I came here to relieve myself of stress. I'm tired of the hustle and bustle in the city.

Old man: You've been here since yesterday night and one could tell that you were going through a lot in life. If you don't mind can you let me in on your problem?

Andrew: (thought for a while, he didn't want to tell the old man everything including what happened to his family) Well I'm just stressed out that's all.

Old man: it seems like you an away from home right?

Andrew: (was shocked as how the old man knew that he ran from home) Yes, I did. How did you know?

Old man: (laughed alittle then he pat his back continually) I was once like you when I was young, whenever I was feeling down or angry I would run away to a place where no one would find me. When I feel okay and recharged, I'll go back home. Until oneday, I didn't and couldn't return.

Andrew: (surprised) Why?

Old man: (let out a sigh) I died. I was killed.

Andrew: (was shocked, so he was talking to a ghost. He wanted to run away but he just thought to himself, what worse can happen, after all he's been through, he can't be afraid of a ghost now) So are you a ghost?

Old man: Well you could say that, but do I look like a ghost?

Andrew: (couldn't say because he looked so much like a human) No, you look so much alive.

Old man: That's because I'm alive.

Andrew: What? You are alive? How ?

Old man: (laughed at him and adjust himself on his seat) I had an argument with my dad, so I stormed out of the house in annoyance. I went to club house, I had the time of my life, I spent two days there, on the day of my return. It was as if I was being followed, but anytime I looked back I saw no one, after a while, I heard a sound. When I turned back, I saw a group of men dressed in black attire and they covered their faces, I became scared. They injured me, beat to a pulp and shot me on the stomach. They thought I was dead because I became unconscious. So they left me and ran away. I almost died, but a kind hearted man took me to the hospital for treatment. The news reached everyone that I was dead and they all believed, when I recovered I went home but they drove me away, that I was dead and it was believed in my home and custom that if a ghost comes to visit someone it was badluck. So I went away and since then I've become invisible to people, so I came to the countryside where no one knows me and I started a new life here.

Andrew: That was an epic story, but did you find your killer?
