Cannon fodder in the Interstellar

Chapter 242 - I Want to Be With You

Sheila sat next to Ruo Manni, having just practiced with her. However, after less than twenty moves, Ruo Manni had effortlessly defeated her, leaving no chance for Sheila to fight back. The difference in their combat abilities was too significant, making the sparring session uninteresting, so they stopped.

Now, the two sat outside the training room, watching Hebrew Adam take on four opponents.

As expected, Hebrew Adam’s combat power was exceptional; he showed no signs of losing despite facing four at once. However, upon closer inspection, he didn’t seem entirely at ease either.

“The President is much stronger than before. Back then, we could communicate with him; now, if it’s one-on-one, he’d just wipe us out in seconds,” Sheila commented admiringly after watching for a while.

“The others have actually made great progress too. No need to mention Dean; even Tamaki has improved significantly. Just look at how he fights; his combat awareness is really strong now. It would be best to have the President spar with him and Su Forty-Three more often; they should be able to break through to Level Five Warriors soon,” Ruo Manni said.

This was the truth. Initially, Tamaki Kazia’s cultivation level was lower than Su Forty-Three’s, but now it seemed they were on par.

“Could it be because of you being a distraction?” Ruo Manni shot a sideways glance at Sheila, imagining a plot in which a poor boy strives to marry a wealthy young lady, working hard to achieve his goals.

“What distraction! It’s called ambition, okay!” Sheila’s face turned slightly red.

Hebrew Adam seemed to appreciate Tamaki Kazia’s tremendous progress, so he was more attentive toward him, and Tamaki was enjoying the fight immensely.

Sheila watched with a pained expression, while Ruo Manni clicked her tongue twice. “Is it really necessary? You know that getting hit now means you’ll get hit less on the battlefield.”

“You say it lightly, but it’s not your royal prince who’s taking the hits,” Sheila shot Ruo Manni an eye roll.

Ruo Manni smiled and didn’t retort that he wasn’t her royal prince; she knew saying that would just give Sheila a chance to tease her.

“Ruo Manni, who’s stronger overall between you and the President?” Sheila asked curiously.

“The President is stronger,” Ruo Manni replied.

She often practiced with Hebrew Adam, and she always lost unless they were solely competing in mental strength.

Others only saw Hebrew Adam’s martial prowess, unaware that his mental power level was also very high. Plus, all the Xuanwu techniques were refined and modified through his own interpretation, so once his techniques were perfected, he cultivated faster than Ruo Manni.

Originally, Hebrew Adam’s overall combat power was already much higher than Ruo Manni’s, and with his faster progress in practicing Xuanwu techniques, there was no way she could compete with him.

“Ruo Manni, I have something very important to tell you,” Sheila suddenly said with a serious expression.

Ruo Manni had never seen Sheila look so serious before, so she guessed what Sheila was about to say was significant.

Ruo Manni straightened her posture. “Go ahead.”

“Ruo Manni, I’ve thought it over. My merit points can at most push me to Sergeant, but I don’t want to go back to my family… I want to go to Topaz Star with you,” Seira said earnestly.

Ruo Manni was quite surprised. “You’re serious.”

Sheila’s current cultivation level had already reached the late stage of Level 4, with the potential to advance to Level 5 at any moment. Compared to the freakishly talented members of the elite class, she was still considered an exceptionally outstanding genius outside.

Especially in the Shahin family, no one from Sheila’s previous two generations had better cultivation potential than her. The Shahin family would definitely not allow her to leave the family.

“The day before yesterday, I returned home, and my family head wanted me to marry into the Beery family. After I left, I had no intention of going back,” Sheila said, frowning.

Ruo Manni was quite puzzled. Recently, she had been hearing a lot about the Beery family, and after listening to Sheila, she even felt like the Beery family was her nemesis.

Ruo Manni waited for Sheila to continue. For her to be determined to leave her family, there must be more to it than just this marriage arrangement.

“That man is over two hundred years old, with countless mistresses and illegitimate children. It’s said that he has a very violent temper; his previous wife couldn’t stand it and thus divorced him,” Sheila said with an expressionless face.

Ruo Manni frowned. A noble lady from a prestigious family held a very high status; no large family would use a girl like this. If they were to arrange a marriage, they would choose someone with comparable conditions; otherwise, it would be a degradation of status.

Moreover, someone as outstanding as Sheila, even if it was with the most elite direct descendants of the Beery family, she was more than qualified. Arranging such a marriage would be a humiliation for Sheila.

“Your family head must be foolish; what benefit does this bring to the Shahin family? Aren’t they afraid of being ridiculed by others?” Ruo Manni found it hard to understand.

“That man is extremely wealthy, a direct descendant, and he was the one who took an interest in me first. If you agree to let me be with you, he probably won’t just let it go,” Sheila said with a blank expression.

“The Beery family wouldn’t dare to provoke me,” Ruo Manni said confidently.

After all, the Beery family had a longstanding feud with the Hua De family, which was stronger than the Beery family. With the Hua De family and the First Prince supporting her on the Empire Capital Star, the Beery family wouldn’t be able to intervene on Topaz Star; they couldn’t do anything to her.

“And what about the Kazia family?” Ruo Manni thought of Tamaki Kazia.

“After the head of the Shahin family learned about my relationship with Tamaki, he started targeting the Kazia family’s business. Fortunately, the President managed to suppress it, and then arranged for the Kazia family to align with the First Prince. Now even the Beery family wouldn’t dare to openly target the Kazia family,” Sheila explained.

“When did this happen?” Ruo Manni was somewhat surprised; she hadn’t heard Sheila mention it before.

“Last year,” Sheila said in a flat tone. “My stepmother had a baby brother, and the test results from two years ago showed that his cultivation potential is even better than mine.”

Ruo Manni took a careful look at Sheila’s expression and noticed that the previously obsessive hatred was no longer there, but the sadness in her eyes was unmistakable.

“Don’t worry; Tamaki has already comforted me. I’ve come to terms with it,” Sheila said calmly.

So this guy, after having someone he cares about, won’t darken anymore.

“You are welcome to follow me, but that is an outer rim planet, and it’s not as good as you might imagine. Compared to the Empire Capital Star, it’s really poor and backward. Moreover, it will be the first line of defense in interstellar warfare and will be the most dangerous place in the future,” Ruo Manni naturally wanted to make the risks clear first.

If Sheila was willing to join her, Ruo Manni would be very pleased; after all, a teammate who has shared both hardship and joy is more reliable than any stranger.

Although she would have Uncle Lin’s protection when she returned to Topaz Star, which would allow her to gain more resources than others, she still needed to build her own foundation; no one could help her with that.

“I know; I’ve looked into all of this. I’m not just making a rash decision,” Sheila said seriously.

“Tamaki Kazia will be coming with me,” Sheila added.
