Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Dragon Blood Obtained… Feeling Sorry for Zi Yan
Chapter 126: Dragon Blood Obtained… Feeling Sorry for Zi Yan
Beneath a large tree in the forest, Mo Ya leaned weakly against the trunk, his face pale and his right arm severed at the elbow. The clean, charred wound was a blessing in disguise had he lost more blood, though not fatal, the scent would surely have attracted magical beasts. In such a scenario, even surviving would have come at an even greater cost.
"Damn it, I lost my storage ring… this is trouble…" Mo Ya panted heavily. With his remaining left hand, he reached into his robes and pulled out a black pill, swallowing it quickly. Instantly, his pale face flushed with a strange redness, almost like a deathly glow an aftereffect of the pill's overly potent medicinal power.
"Thank goodness I kept some things on me…" Mo Ya patted his chest, his face showing lingering fear. If not for his habit of hiding items on his person, he would surely have died this time.
"This is a good habit I need to keep it up!" Mo Ya muttered to himself. He then retrieved a scroll from his robes. Despite the many setbacks, obtaining this scroll made this trip worthwhile.
"I need to heal quickly… this isn't over. Those inner academy students Lu Bu, Zi Yan, and that other kid I won't forget you three!" Mo Ya stored the scroll, glanced hatefully in the direction of his escape, and cursed under his breath. But then he froze.
An inexplicable, overwhelming pressure suddenly descended upon him. It was as if the heavens themselves were pressing down. Mo Ya stood frozen, his body trembling uncontrollably, and for a brief moment, he felt an instinctual urge to bow in submission.
This was a natural reaction of the weak in the presence of overwhelming strength.
It wasn't just him around him, the usual ambient noises of insects, birds, and animals fell utterly silent, as though someone had pressed a pause button on the forest itself.
"What… what's happening?" Mo Ya murmured, his voice trembling.
He had no idea what was going on, but it was nothing good. Clenching his teeth, he forced himself to move under the oppressive pressure, fleeing deeper into the forest in the direction of his sect.
This was no place to linger.
Elsewhere in the forest, in the lowlands.
Lin Yan, now somewhat recovered, stood up with difficulty. Surviving had been lucky enough, but to his surprise, he had also gained two valuable items: two fifth tier magic cores, one from a Ghost Faced Wood Spirit Monkey, a wood elemental core, and the other from a Strong Earth King Tiger, a core of the earth element.
The Ghost Faced Wood Spirit Monkey had been slain by the Strong Earth King Tiger, and Lin Yan had managed to finish off the weakened tiger with a sneak attack.
Based on his observations, the tiger's goal had been to claim a patch of dense vegetation nearby, though the monkey had put up a strong fight, inflicting serious wounds before dying. Without that, Lin Yan wouldn't have stood a chance against such a powerful magical beast.
Quickly, Lin Yan extracted the cores and retrieved a half foot long piece of vine from the dense vegetation's center. The vine was a vivid green, emitting a faint, refreshing fragrance that calmed the mind.
"What a treasure! No wonder two fifth tier beasts fought to the death over it!" Lin Yan nodded in satisfaction. Still, he placed the three items on the ground, intending to wait for Lu Bu and Zi Yan to return.
He didn't know if they would, but he didn't plan to keep the items for himself. To him, repaying a life saving favor was a principle besides, these items technically belonged to them anyway.
But then, from deep within the forest, a faint purple golden glow flickered, elusive and indistinct.
At first, Lin Yan thought it was a beast. But a moment later, his chest suddenly felt heavy, his shoulders slumped, and it felt as though an invisible weight was pressing down on him.
"Damn it… what a terrifying pressure!" Lin Yan exclaimed in shock. Even the magic cores on the ground a yellow one and a green one seemed to shrink back. Their previous faint glow disappeared as if they were trying to avoid attention, now appearing like dull, ordinary crystals.
Elsewhere in the forest.
Zi Yan's rosy face was slightly pale as she held three droplets of purple golden blood in her palm.
Lu Bu's eyes gleamed with joy as he opened his mouth and swallowed the three drops. Instantly, a violent surge of purple golden energy exploded beneath his skin, his veins bulging as though they were about to burst.
A black gleam flashed in Lu Bu's eyes, and the rampaging energy was immediately subdued, obediently settling down.
"Ah… so exhausting…" Zi Yan pouted as her short legs gave way, and she nearly plopped onto the ground.
Seeing her pale face, Lu Bu's heart ached. He quickly scooped her into his arms.
"Zi Yan, here, take this pill." Lu Bu held out a green pill to her lips. It was a fifth tier medicinal pill called the "Essence Stabilizing Pill," designed to restore vitality. Zi Yan had overexerted herself by forcing out three drops of her essence blood.
"If I'd known it would be this tiring, I wouldn't have given you so much…" Zi Yan licked her pink tongue, swallowing the pill, and muttered pitifully.
Lu Bu chuckled and tapped her lightly on the forehead. This little girl… He had only asked for one drop, but she insisted on giving three, saying it was more convenient to do it all at once.
As the Essence Stabilizing Pill dissolved, a warm sensation spread through Zi Yan's body. She nestled into Lu Bu's arms, resting her head on his shoulder, and fell asleep.
Lu Bu gently stroked her silky, lavender colored hair, a flash of guilt in his eyes. If not for the Azure Sky Dragon Transformation Technique, he wouldn't have had the heart to ask her for her essence blood.
"I'll make it up to her," he murmured softly.
After stowing his puppet away, Lu Bu carried Zi Yan back to where Lin Yan was waiting.
"You… you're finally back!" Lin Yan exclaimed with relief upon seeing him.
Normally, Lin Yan was the most impatient person, but this time, he had waited for an unusually long time.
"Call me Lu Bu," Lu Bu said with a smile. He glanced at the three items on the ground and waved his hand. The Green Wood Immortal Vine flew into his palm.
"I'll take this. The rest is yours. Is that okay?" Lu Bu asked, tossing the vine lightly. "When you return to the Inner Academy, come find me at the Saint Gate. I'll help you get rid of your Fire Poison."
"You can cure Fire Poison? Are you an alchemist?" Lin Yan's joy overtook his hesitation, as the Fire Poison had plagued him for so long. However, he frowned slightly, recalling unpleasant memories of a certain useless alchemist.
Lu Bu nodded. "Of course. Come find me when you're ready. For now, I need to take Zi Yan back." With that, he tossed a bottle of healing pills to Lin Yan and soared into the sky on his Purple Cloud Wings.
"Fourth tier pills… What generosity!" Lin Yan marveled, watching Lu Bu disappear into the distance.
A Few Days Later.
In the northeast region of the Black Corner Domain, a figure stumbled through the sky, swaying unsteadily.
Beyond the endless forest, a small town appeared on the horizon, no bigger than a soybean in the distance.
"Damn it… finally made it out," Mo Ya muttered weakly, heaving a sigh of relief. For three days, he had fled through the forest, followed by two days of flying. Now, his battered body was at its limit, and his vision was dotted with black spots.
Clenching his teeth, he pulled a black jade token from his robes and crushed it.
Soon, three figures raced out from the town, catching the near collapse Mo Ya.
"Take me back to the sect… I'll make those inner academy brats pay…" Before he could finish his words, Mo Ya's head slumped as he lost consciousness.
