Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Meeting an Old Friend

**Chapter 12: Meeting an Old Friend**

After entering the club, Chen Feng glanced around the spacious, magnificent hall before heading directly to a side room. On the door, three large golden characters were prominently displayed: "Treasure Appraisal Room."

"The treasure appraiser in Wutan City should be that shameless old man, Gu Ni," Chen Feng thought, a smile creeping across his face at the prospect of meeting an old acquaintance.

Pushing the door open, he found the room sparsely furnished. A middle-aged man sat in a chair, looking somewhat bored. At the sound of the door, he glanced up, quickly adjusting his expression to a professional smile as he saw Chen Feng, who was dressed in luxurious clothing.

"Sir, are you here to appraise a treasure?" the man asked politely.

"Where's Gu Ni? Isn't he here? Ask him to come see me," Chen Feng said, frowning when he realized Gu Ni wasn't present.

Hearing Chen Feng address Master Gu Ni by name, the middle-aged man's heart skipped a beat. Observing the noble demeanor of this young master, he asked cautiously, "Young Master, may I know who you are?"

Without wasting words, Chen Feng pulled a green token from his ring and handed it over. A lotus was engraved on its surface.

The man inspected the token, his expression shifting dramatically. Returning it with trembling hands, he bowed respectfully and said, "Sir, please wait a moment. I will inform Master Gu Ni right away."

He hurried out of the room. The token Chen Feng had revealed was a symbol of direct lineage to the Mittel family. As a mere manager of a branch, the man was understandably terrified and eager to show respect.

After a short wait, the middle-aged man returned, now accompanied by an old man in green robes.

"Sir, this is Master Gu Ni from our auction house," he introduced.

Chen Feng took in the sight of Gu Ni, noting the emblem of a medicine furnace painted on his chest. Two silver ripples shimmered on its surface, exuding a noble aura—a clear mark of a second-grade alchemist.

Gu Ni's face, slightly flushed, reflected his arrogance—an attribute seemingly inherent to alchemists. His otherwise ordinary green robe faintly glimmered, likely enchanted with magical crystal protection.

"Who are you?" Gu Ni asked, frowning slightly as he examined the handsome young man. Despite finding him familiar, he couldn't immediately place him.

"Master Gu Ni, has it been so long that you've forgotten me?" Chen Feng spoke first, a smile tugging at his lips.

Hearing the somewhat familiar voice, realization dawned on Gu Ni. "You are... Master Chen Feng!" he exclaimed.

"It's been several years, Master Gu Ni. I trust you've been well," Chen Feng replied with a nod.

"Master Chen Feng! It really is you! Why have you come to Wutan City?" Gu Ni asked, surprise evident in his tone.

Chen Feng's appearance had changed significantly over the years, becoming more masculine, which explained why Gu Ni hadn't recognized him at first glance.

"Oh, I see—you've come to see Miss Yafei," Gu Ni said, his tone turning playful as an ambiguous smile spread across his face.

Having known Chen Feng since childhood and worked closely with Yafei for years, Gu Ni was well aware of the bond between the two.

Seeing the sly smile, Chen Feng inwardly sighed. This old man really is shameless.

He recalled how, at the age of ten, Gu Ni had once encouraged him to visit brothels—a suggestion Chen Feng had firmly refused. If I had listened to him back then, I would've ruined my life.

"Where is Sister Yafei? Take me to her," Chen Feng said, rolling his eyes at Gu Ni's antics and dropping all pretense of politeness.

"Miss Yafei should be in the conference room. Please, follow me," Gu Ni replied, unfazed by Chen Feng's tone.

As they walked, Gu Ni leaned in conspiratorially and whispered, "Master Chen Feng, I have some elixirs that might improve your mood. Would you like me to give you a few?"

Chen Feng paused and shot him a look of disdain. "Do you think I'm like you? This young master doesn't need such things," he retorted confidently.

Gu Ni, momentarily stunned by the jab, flushed red. Yet, seeing Chen Feng's confidence, he could only sigh. Ah, to be young again.

Reflecting on his own indulgences in youth, Gu Ni couldn't help but regret his poor choices. If only I had taken better care of myself...

On the way, Chen Feng suddenly instructed, "Get ready. You're coming with me to the Xiao family tomorrow."

"The Xiao family? Why?" Gu Ni asked, confused.

Before Chen Feng could answer, a commotion broke out in a quiet corner of the hall, drawing his attention. Employees of the Mittel Auction House appeared to be escorting someone important.

Chen Feng's eyes followed the movement, catching sight of a figure dressed in bright red and exuding a graceful presence. As he looked closer, his gaze landed on a pair of red boots with sharp heels clicking rhythmically on the stone floor. The sound was crisp and pleasant, like a melody.

His eyes traveled upward, lingering on a pair of slender, snow-white legs.

"These legs are so white!" Chen Feng thought, unable to suppress his admiration.
