The massive two-headed Fire Spirit Snake lay sprawled before Qing Lin, barely clinging to life. The force behind Xiao Yan's earlier strike was far beyond what the creature could endure. Just one blow had sent it into critical condition. It tried to lift its head for a final struggle, but before it could act, Xiao Yan appeared right in front of it. He stepped on one of its heads, pinning it firmly to the ground, while the other was forced still by the heavy black ruler resting menacingly against it.

The battle had been completely one-sided. Xiao Yan hadn't even needed to use a single offensive Dou Technique to subdue the beast. It was a clear demonstration of overwhelming power. Given his strength as a three-star Dou Wang, if he had struggled against a mere beast like this, he might as well have found a rock to smash his own head on out of shame.

"Young Master, you're amazing!" Qing Lin cheered with joy, her voice filled with admiration. Watching Xiao Yan take down such a ferocious magical beast with ease made her eyes sparkle. Xiao Yan, however, only chuckled as he looked at the severely injured beast before him and suddenly asked, "Qing Lin, would you like a pet?"

"Of course!" Qing Lin nodded eagerly. But then, realizing what he meant, her expression turned uncertain. "Young Master Xiao Yan, you mean…"

"This big fellow—I'm giving it to you as your pet," Xiao Yan said with a gentle smile.

"Eh?" Qing Lin looked at the massive, defeated beast and instinctively swallowed. Having such a terrifying creature as a pet certainly sounded impressive, but how could she possibly get something this powerful to obey her?

"Don't worry, Qing Lin. I wouldn't trick you," Xiao Yan reassured her softly. "Just concentrate and look into its eyes."

The two-headed Fire Spirit Snake's eyes were filled with mockery. A mere human dared think it could be tamed—and not even by the man who defeated it, but by this frail girl? Ha! It would rather die, rot in the sands of the Tager Desert, or leap off the walls of Rock Desert City than submit to a human!

Wait—why are her eyes glowing green?

Under Xiao Yan's guidance, Qing Lin focused intently on the beast. As she concentrated, three tiny green points in her eyes began to glow with an eerie light, slowly forming into three ethereal, green floral patterns.

Under the light, its frenzied eyes calmed visibly, and two glowing green flower symbols appeared on its forehead, signifying that the contract had been successfully established.

As the light faded, Qing Lin suddenly wobbled and collapsed. Fortunately, Xiao Yan was ready. He appeared behind her in a flash and gently fed her a soul-recovering pill he had prepared in advance.

The toll of using her bloodline ability for the first time, especially given her weak strength, had drained her spiritual power severely. With time and training, this effect would lessen. For now, she just needed rest. Meanwhile, the subdued two-headed Fire Spirit Snake made no move to attack—it merely lay there, docile and obedient.

Thanks to the soul-recovery pill, Qing Lin awoke swiftly. The pallor on her face gave way to a healthy flush. She looked up at Xiao Yan's face, still holding her in his arms, and her cheeks turned even redder.

"How are you feeling?" Xiao Yan pinched her soft little cheek with a smile. "Can you control that big guy now?"

"Mhm." Qing Lin nodded. She glanced at the snake, whose gaze now held a strange fondness and obedience, and said curiously, "I think I can understand what it's thinking… It's like we've formed some kind of link. Young Master, what's going on?"

She'd never heard of any method on the Dou Qi Continent that could force a magical beast to obey so completely. If something like this were common, auction houses would be selling beasts in droves. But this—this was different.

"It's your innate talent," Xiao Yan said with a smile. "Your eyes are the legendary Jade Snake Three Flower Pupils—the bane of all serpent-type magical beasts. That big fellow is no exception."

"Jade Snake Three Flower Pupils?" Qing Lin blinked in astonishment. She had never imagined herself possessing such a powerful and rare ability. The surprise quickly faded, replaced by pure excitement. "Then that means… I can protect you in the future, Young Master!"

"That's right. I'll be counting on you, Qing Lin," Xiao Yan said warmly. Although he didn't need protection from a four-star beast, he knew better than to crush a child's enthusiasm. Besides, the potential of her eye technique was enormous. It would undoubtedly be useful in the future.

"Young Master Xiao Yan, it says it knows where the Heavenly Flame is!" Qing Lin said softly, pointing at the two-headed snake. But before she could say more, Xiao Yan gently placed a hand over her mouth and made a quiet gesture.

Once she nodded in understanding, Xiao Yan removed his hand, turned, and calmly gripped the heavy ruler in his hand. His eyes slowly lifted toward the tunnel he had carved to enter the magma world.

A faint smile played across his lips. "You've been watching for quite some time. Isn't it about time you showed yourself? Hiding like this isn't your style... Queen Medusa."
