Chapter 123: A New Quest

While waiting for the servers to open back up Ezekiel was in the private hub the server creates, he eventually decided to start practicing his spells in the area where he had effectively unlimited mana so he could drive away his boredom.

He eventually just sat on the white floor and looked at the ceiling.

"Hey system you there? Can I make my hub look more... I don't know, interesting?"

A small figure with fairy wings and flowing robes appeared and smiled at him.

"Hello player Belial. You have a request yes?"

"Yes I want to make my hub more interesting, can I customize it somehow?"

The fairy woman smiles and nods before sending out a number of screens with a wave of her hands.

"When the servers open you will be automatically sent into the world but your choices here will stay as you set them, enjoy yourself player Belial."

As she vanished into particles of light he began to scroll through the options of the system, he saw that they were mostly rooms in various styles.

The initial options seemed to he based on the game world with multiple themes like the chambers of a noble and the private sanctums of a church.

After another few minutes of scrolling he realized that he had joined far too early and the five to one time disparity applied to the hub, meaning he was forced to wait for potential hours.

He sighed in defeat before returning to the screens and he was surprised to see that after scrolling through dozens of options he came to what looked like decorations from the real world.

Eventually he gave up and just swiped the scroll bar rapidly.

"Give me a room like the devil queen's chambers."

The screen showing the themes began to fade away as the blank white room turned into a room made of black stone as if made from the most beautiful ebony.

"Huh... can you make the stone look like it's marbled? Quartz and gold in the ebony?"

As he said this the room began to shift once again to become as he described and he felt the urge to get creative to make this room as amazing as he can.

"Show me the wood options for the floor, dark woods specifically."

He went through the options and eventually settled on a kind if wood that had a rich brown hue with the wood grain showing red pulses of energy as if the rings if the tree were imbued either fire, when he walked across it he even felt a comforting warmth.

"Now I need a table... what is it they always say? Warm colors in a dark room?"

He thought back to when his mom watched those silly home renovation shows but now it was useful.

"I wonder if there's any kind of glass with an orange or red tint?"

As he went through the options for glass tables he realized two very important issues.

The first was that even in the real world tinted glass tables looked terrible, the second was that in the game world these tables looked significantly worse.

"Hm these look like shit... what if I go for marble instead?"

As he kept going her realized that marble counter tops had so many imperfections and rarely had the colors he wanted so he simply asked for red stone tables.

In his own world he found there were a variety of tables made with semi previous stones but most were minerals that had been put into resin to create a nice design in a fake table.

He was about to give up until he saw jasper.

A deep red stone that was all solid, if mounted on the same wood as the floor it would even make the table warm to the touch!

He was absolutely excited by how well the room began to look and was going to continue when he suddenly saw the world fade away, he had finally logged in.

When he arrived at the dungeon he saw that he had a large number of notifications from the system, the most important of which was the reward from the dungeon.

As he had completed the dungeon solo he obtained it's optional reward in addition to the mythril quality gear, sadly that was the best quality he had obtained but it was still worth a lot.

When he looked at the other notifications he realized that he had bigger things to worry about than just the rewards from the dungeon, he saw that a number of details involving the auction of his scroll had come through but the main detail was that it had gone to an extreme amount.

One hundred copper coins was the equivalent of a silver coin and one hundred silver coins was one gold Goin.

He also knew that one hundred gold coins were equal to one platinum coin, he was confident that a platinum dragon coin would be the large denomination of the platinum coins.

These scrolls were most likely just rewards from the system which meant that they were very rare, the problem was that the auction had taken a pause.

Based on what he was reading a number of the people that had bid in the auction had actually put up a vote to pause the auction for the day, this would apparently allow them to start gathering more funds to bid.

By the time the auction had paused the bidding had reached twenty five platinum dragon coins.

"Hey system, if there are kingdoms bidding on this then why are they only reaching twenty five dragon coins?"

~~~~~~~~~~
Answer:
Platinum dragon coins are a denomination of currency equal to one thousand platinum coins.
~~~~~~~~~~

With some basic math in his head he realized that the bidding had ended at the equivalent of two and a half million gold coins!

This meant that the total amount of gold he would have had to earn to complete the quest would be one hundred million gold coins...

'Why do they hate me so much? And how the hell did someone actually achieve this already?'

Eventually he just sighed and looked at the other notifications.

Boon Quest Offered:

The god of shadows Necros has offered a quest to obtain a boon from his power, will you accept?

~~~~~~~~~~
'The dark god wants to give me something huh?'
He accepted the offer and looked at the quest.
~~~~~~~~~~

Necros has heard a plea to grant you a boon but you must prove yourself worthy of it, you have been granted the quest "Boon of Necros."

Step 1: to prove your skill in mana control you must infuse a weapon with the power of shadowfire.

Step 2: to prove your mastery over your mana you must change your mana veins into shadowfire attuned mana veins.

Step 3: to prove your dedication to your skills you must create a new spell with your shadowfire element without the aid of the Spell Crafter title, to meet the requirements the spell must be at minimum S rank.

~~~~~~~~~~
After reading through the steps of the quest he realized that it was in fact a challenge, he had no clue what to do to give his mana veins an affinity nor did he know where to start with making a weapon have his power.
While thinking about what to so he decided that the easiest option was to ask for advice from a mage that had more power and skill than he did.
He couldn't go to Lucretia yet but he could go to the local magical schools to find out.
With this plan in mind he left to prepare for that meeting.
~
When he arrived at the school for magic he realized that he was probably one of the oldest people there outside of teachers.
He showed his credentials he obtained in Raylock to the guard and entered the shockingly large doors only to find that the school was more enormous than he could have guessed.
The vaulted ceilings seemed made for if anyone wished to fly while the ground was flooded with children rushing to and from class.
He floated himself into the sky and began to glide through the halls propelled by mana while occasionally asking teachers for directions to the library.
The issue with this was that he couldn't exactly get a good answer as the teachers looked at him strangely due to what he used to hide his unnatural features.
Eventually he got directions to the library and flew out to it, as it turned out he had to leave the main building just to reach the library.
When he saw the build that was described to him he felt a sense of impending accomplishment.
When he entered the building the first thing he saw was the vast shelves full of scrolls and books across three floors, balconies with reading tables as well as rooms in the fourth floor.
He approached the front desk with excitement and immediately greeted the young man sitting there.
