Bloodbound: Mr. Billionaire's Contract Wife Is a Retired Ghost

Chapter 7: Let's go Home

Alessia glared daggers in Sebastian's direction for seconds before she clenched her jaw and reluctantly took the glass he was holding out to her.

"Don't fill it to the brim, just half the glass is fine." He ordered as she turned her back to him, heading for the table in the middle of the sitting area.

As she served a bottle of red wine into the glass, Alessia couldn't help but lament her pathetic situation.

She bit the inside of her bottom lip. She was supposed to be the daughter of the infamous Xandro, the one and only Don of the largest mafia in Veritas City.

But here she was, being ordered around by someone who was supposed to be beneath her by right!

Alessia nearly laughed at how pitiful she was. Even though she was born at the top of the food chain, her so-called Father treated her as less than human.

He didn't care for her… so of course no one else would care for her... maybe except Kiera. In an organisation where she was supposed to be hailed as a princess, she treated like nothing less than a foot soldier and a pauper.

When she placed the bottle of wine back on the table, she frowned down at the glass in front of her before she picked it up and headed in Sebastian's direction.

Sebastian watched her with an amused look on his face as she headed toward him, his tongue swiftly running over one abnormally long canine before his lips drifted close.

Alessia spared a glance at him and pressed her lips together. When she had reached just a few inches away from where he sat, she tripped over herself and collapsed into him. The glass of wine she held spilled all over his expensive suit.

There was a heavy silence between them for a long time. Alessia first took in the sight of the mess she had made, resisting the urge to smirk, she looked up at Sebastian with unapologetic eyes.

"Sorry… that was an–"

Before she could get the last word out, a fleeting shadow went across her face.

Slap!

The force was so strong that Alessia's head snapped sideways, and on the inside of her mouth, she tasted blood.

The people who had been chattering noisily around them quickly turned their faces away, some even moving farther to avoid getting caught up in the scene.

"You stupid b*tch!" Sebastian hissed in a sharp tone, as he took a fistful of her hair, jerking her head up to meet his eyes and making her gasp. "I see that you have some kind of death wish."

Alessia glared back into his fiery dark eyes without looking away, even with a severely swollen cheek and broken lip.

Sebastian stared at her with furrowed brows for a long time before he pushed her away from him. Alessia collapsed to the ground a few inches away from him with a light thud.

He stood up and clicked his tongue as he looked down at her with contempt.

"I would thank my gods if I were you." He spat. "Xandro truly does care for you, doesn't he?"

Sebastian didn't spare another second and quickly left the area. Alessia didn't know how long she was on the ground for, just staring at it with a hand on her injured cheek. Her ears were still ringing from the impact of the slap.

"Lessie!" She heard Kiera's voice from a distance but before she could register the sound, her friend was already in front of her with a worried look on her face.

Kiera clenched her jaw. "You… how could he do this to you?! In public for that matter!"

Alessia was quiet for a long time. "Let's go home." She said hoarsely as she sat up, her hair falling over her face to hide the tears that were already gathering in her eyes.

Kiera pursed her lip. She looked like she wanted to say something else, but she backed down. "Alright… can you stand?"

Alessia nodded her head. "I can. Let's leave this place quickly."

Dervan sat at a table with a mug of coffee in his hand at an open balcony of a luxury apartment overlooking the bright city, the expression on his face was indifferent.

A man with a lithe, tall frame and curly dark hair stood a few meters away from where he sat. He wore a pair of thin rectangular glasses and held a tablet in his hand. His posture was as perfect as an upright rod.

"It's been noisy ever since the party…" Dervan said as he took a sip of his beverage.

Since the night of the assassination attempt, the whole of high society had been buzzing about the supposed collaboration between him and the Alrosa's.

Not just the elite of San Monicio but Veritas City as well.

How that extremely confidential information got to the public's ears, he had no idea. But Dervan was convinced that there were people keeping a close eye on him, and they were closer to him than he thought.

He dropped his mug on the table and sighed, rubbing his forehead with his thumb and index finger.

"Have you found out anything yet, Dante?" He suddenly asked.

The man who was standing a few meters away from him shook his head. "Nothing, Sir. There really is no need to think about it too much, this has to be Ghost's doing."

"I know that much." Dervan answered, dropping his coffee mug gently on the table. "Who they are doing it for is the question."

Dante stiffened. "I apologize. I will make sure to put more pressure on the information team."

"Mmm…"

All of a sudden, a phone lying on the coffee table vibrated after a few minutes of silence and Dervan's brows furrowed when he saw the caller.

It was an unknown number, but it was a number he recognised, even though the contact wasn't saved. After all, it had made an impression on him just a few days ago.

He picked up the phone, answered the call and waited in silence until the person on the other side spoke first.

"Café on harlway street, seven tonight." A masculine voice sounded before the line went off.

Dervan frowned as he stared at his phone screen. This so-called caller was the most suspicious person he had ever encountered and that was the same thought he had when he got a call from the same number just a few days ago.

He didn't want to give this stranger a listening ear for the second time but the man was right once and it was about the information of Evie's attempted assassination.

There could be something important he wanted to tell him…

Dervan was consumed in his thoughts for a long time, before he finally let out another sigh.

He abruptly got up from his seat and looked toward his assistant. "Prepare my car. I'm going out for an evening drive."
