Chapter 7: -5- Blood Holy Scripture
Lotti left after feeding Charlotte her lunch.
As a priest at the Church Hospital, she was always busy.
Now, only Charlotte remained in the ward.
But her keen senses told her there was still a Demon Hunting Knight standing outside the door.
That formidable aura was even more oppressive than what her grandmother had brought upon her last night.
Clearly, even though the Demon Hunting Knights had rescued Charlotte, the sole survivor from the cross, they had not yet set aside their suspicions of her.
The Demon Hunting Knight outside the door was both a protector and a keeper.
Even though she had successfully escaped from her "grandmother's" Blood Sacrifice, the young girl's crisis of survival was not yet over.
However, having heard the explanations from priest Lotti just now, Charlotte fell into deep thought:
"Divine Skill Ritual?"
Divine Skill Ritual.
This was the second time Charlotte had come across this term.
The first was during the Blood Sacrifice process.
She vividly remembered that those ancient texts seen in her vision called the "old witch's" Blood Sacrifice a Divine Skill Ritual.
Not only that, she had managed to intercept and reverse the sacrificial ritual successfully.
Charlotte's survival was due to that sudden miraculous power.
This made her daydream...
If the Blood Sacrifice was a Divine Skill Ritual, and so was the physical examination at the Demon Hunting Hall...
Then... was it possible, like last night in the basement, to "intercept" the upcoming physical examination?
This thought made Charlotte's heart race.
She seemed to see a glimmer of hope!
That miraculous power might just be her golden touch after the crossing.
Yet now, she was still unclear what this golden touch was or how to activate it.
But she remembered the name mentioned in those strange texts.
The item that had detected the Blood Sacrifice and had successfully intercepted it...
Or more precisely, after she had entered that peculiar state of overlooking the earth last night, the blood-red book that had appeared beside her.
A tremor from deep within her soul arose...
Charlotte blurted out almost involuntarily:
"Blood... Holy Scripture."
The pronunciation was eerie and melodious.
That was not the language of the otherworldly world from the memories she had inherited after crossing.
It was even more awkward, more ancient, yet it flowed from her as if by instinct.
And as Charlotte silently recited it, her vision once again turned a deep shade of crimson.
In the depths of her mind, an ancient book slowly emerged...
Its black and red cover edged with gold, adorned with intricate and mystical patterns of thorny roses, and it had a name written in aged, mysterious script that Charlotte could understand—
"Blood Holy Scripture."
Blood Holy Scripture!
Charlotte's spirit was lifted.
The book that appeared in her mind was precisely the one that had appeared by her side the previous night!
Its luminance intensified, and the hefty cover flipped open on its own.
Contrary to its thick appearance, the "Blood Holy Scripture" seemed to have gone through tearing and segmentation, with most of its content lost.
Following the cover, there were only two sparse blood-red torn pages, which Charlotte found extremely familiar...
Wait, weren't these torn pages the same ones the old witch held during the sacrifice?!
Charlotte's heart skipped a beat.
Countess Castel was dead, and those blood-colored torn pages had likely already been confiscated by the Demon Hunting Knights.
Charlotte was curious and astonished, but for now, she had no way to investigate.
She quickly focused on the only two remaining pages of the Blood Holy Scripture.
One appeared to be the title page, and the other was a content page.
The title page was still intact, embellished with an etching of a majestic castle that seemed alive, which felt somewhat familiar to Charlotte, and beneath it were two lines of beautiful and striking golden script:
"I stand in the darkness, looking up to your light.
— Lilith"
Charlotte found herself reciting it silently in her heart.
The crimson glow burst forth instantly, and in the depths, she felt as if she had established some mystical connection with the book.
Under that illumination, the title page turned by itself.
Golden light flickered relentlessly as new words slowly emerged on the back of the title page—
[Blood Holy Scripture - Beginning Chapter]
[I dream of ancient epochs and distant memories,]
[I recount the bygone myths and the primordial True Ancestors,]
[I chant the ballads of the Bloodline and the dawn before darkness…]
[Ability Unlocked—Beginning Chapter—]

[Descendants of Blood: Zero]
…
Bloodline… She really was a Bloodline!
Charlotte gazed at the information before her, both delighted and worried.
She was delighted that in this otherworldly realm of transcendent powers, she too had stepped into transcendence.
Her worry stemmed from the fact that this identity must remain entirely hidden from the light…
Much of the content that appeared was incomprehensible to Charlotte.
She could only roughly guess that it was somewhat akin to a personal panel of a system.
"Blood Summon? True Ancestor Liberation? Are these abilities of the Blood Holy Scripture? One is cooling down, the other still sealed?"
"Shedite, Dark Clan, are these classifications of Bloodline clans? But what is with the half-elf lineage?"
"Apprentice Tier… I seized the power of Countess Castel last night; the transcendent power I obtained must be at this level, though it feels somewhat weaker than hers."
"The five types of Bloodline Resonance must represent different developmental directions for the Bloodline."
Charlotte swiftly scanned the information, analyzing her current state.
She quickly focused her attention on the only power she had mastered:
"Initial Tier Blood Embrace Skill."
As she concentrated, details about the Blood Embrace Skill also emerged in Charlotte's consciousness.
Blood Embrace Skill.
An inherent basic ability of the Bloodline, fundamental magic of the Blood Spirit Magic System.
The caster can create Descendants of Blood through the First Embrace, transforming the target into a Blood Servant or a lower-ranked member of the Bloodline.
"Regrettably, this information and abilities might be useful in the future, but they do nothing to alleviate my current crisis."
"What I need now is not this, but the miraculous ability from last night that intercepted the Divine Skill Ritual!"
Charlotte slowly shook her head, her gaze shifting from the title page to the only other content page left.
The page was blank, with nothing written.
However, as Charlotte focused, a series of golden words quickly appeared—
[Blood Holy Scripture·God Chapter (Damaged)]
[I will be unstoppable,]
[I will be overwhelmingly dominant,]
[I will look down upon all beings!]
[God Chapter Ability Unlocked—]
[Divine Technique Counter (Activated)]
[Divine Technique Counter: As the supreme Divine Artifact of the Bloodline, the Blood Holy Scripture has the capability to detect Divine Skill Rituals within a certain range (Passive), and can intercept and modify lower-tier Divine Skills (Active). Modification of the magic must adhere to the inherent mechanisms of the magic, unable to alter the nature and effect of the magic.]
"This is it!"
Upon reading this description, Charlotte's eyes suddenly brightened.
Just then, a soft knock sounded, interrupting the young woman's probing.
Along with the knock came the soft, gentle voice of Priest Lotti:
"Miss Charlotte, Captain Kara has returned. May we come in?"
