Bleach: I Have No Talent

Chapter 47: 45: Finally Home

After the intense battle, Kazuhime approached Shiro, who was still catching his breath amidst the scattered crowd of kitsune that had gathered to witness his duel with Akira. Without a word, she guided him away from the clearing and back toward the temple. However, this time, instead of heading to the main hall, she led him to a side corridor and stopped in front of a heavy, ornately carved wooden door.

Kazuhime pushed it open to reveal an ancient, dimly lit office. The room was filled with the scent of aged parchment and incense. Scrolls and books lined the walls, and a single, imposing desk sat at the center, its surface adorned with delicate carvings of foxes intertwined with flames.

From the desk, Kazuhime retrieved a large scroll and a ceremonial dagger, presenting them to Shiro.

The scroll was massive, with a crimson silk cover embossed with golden patterns resembling swirling foxfire. The edges were bound with silver clasps, and the kanji for "Summoning Contract" glowed faintly in gold ink on the front. When unrolled, the parchment inside was ancient yet pristine, its surface shimmering faintly as though alive with latent magic.

The ceremonial dagger was equally breathtaking. Its blade was slender and sharp, forged from an iridescent black metal that seemed to ripple like liquid under the light. The hilt was wrapped in crimson leather, with a fox-shaped guard crafted from gleaming gold. A small orange gemstone was embedded at the pommel, flickering like a tiny ember.

Shiro unfolded the scroll carefully, his hands steady despite the tension. The parchment revealed only one line for signing, with the heading above it:

"The Summoner."

Shiro glanced at Kazuhime, waiting for instructions.

Kazuhime spoke, her tone calm but commanding:

"I will use the ceremonial dagger to cut your hand. You will then write your name in your blood beneath the name of a previous summoner, Akihiko Uchiha. Afterward, you'll stamp your thumbprint next to your name to seal the contract."

Shiro nodded, gripping the dagger with determination. Without hesitation, he drew the blade across his palm, the sharp edge leaving a clean cut. Blood began to drip onto the scroll.

Using his blood, Shiro carefully wrote his name beneath Akihiko Uchiha, the elegant kanji of the name standing out starkly against the parchment. Once he finished, he pressed his blood-soaked thumb firmly next to his name, leaving a bold crimson stamp.

The moment the seal was complete, the scroll began to glow. The parchment shimmered with golden light, and the name Shiro had written seemed to etch itself permanently into the surface.

Suddenly, a sleek, fox-shaped sigil appeared on the back of Shiro's dominant hand. It shimmered faintly, its edges flickering with ethereal foxfire. The mark felt warm and alive, pulsing softly as though resonating with his heartbeat.

Kazuhime smiled faintly. "The bond is sealed. That mark symbolizes your contract with the kitsune. It will glow when the summoning is invoked, and its strength reflects the power of your connection."

Shiro stared at the mark on his hand, watching as the foxfire flickered faintly. He clenched his fist.

The moment his hand touched the earth, black symbols began to snake outward in intricate patterns, forming a glowing summoning circle. The air grew thick with energy, the temperature dropping as the ground beneath him trembled.

With a hiss and a loud boom, a cloud of white smoke erupted from the circle. The symbols on the ground pulsed one final time before fading away.

As the smoke cleared, a familiar figure emerged—Akira, the five-tailed kitsune Shiro had battled just twenty minutes prior.

Akira's presence was as commanding as ever. His sleek white fur glowed faintly under the fading sunlight, his five tails swaying behind him like banners of ethereal fire. His sharp eyes locked onto Shiro, a glimmer of recognition in them.

"You again," Akira said, his deep voice carrying both irritation and amusement. "I thought we were done."

Shiro straightened up, his breathing heavy but his expression calm. "I guess we're not. Looks like I summoned you."

Kazuhime stepped forward, her voice cutting through the tension. "Akira, don't forget your place. He's earned the right to summon us, including you."

Akira's gaze shifted to Kazuhime, and after a moment, he dipped his head in acknowledgment. "Fine. But I won't make it easy for him."

Shiro smirked, wiping the blood from his thumb onto his uniform. "Wouldn't expect anything less."

Kazuhime gave Shiro a warm smile, her voice carrying a tone of admiration.

"You've done well, Shiro. Even Akihiko only summoned a two-tailed kitsune after his first test. Yet you summoned Akira, a five-tailed kitsune, one of the most talented and genius beings in our clan."

She paused, her gaze lingering on Akira for a moment before she spoke again, turning her attention back to Shiro.

"Akira, you may leave now."

Akira nodded respectfully before vanishing in a burst of speed. Kazuhime then turned her eyes back to Shiro, her tone becoming more casual.

"I imagine you'd like to return to your home now?"

Shiro nodded slightly, though he felt the discomfort growing in him. Kazuhime, aware of his subtle unease, leaned forward, her posture deliberately seductive. She exposed more of her cleavage, leaning in to gently brush away the strands of hair that fell over his face, her fingers lingering a moment too long.

Shiro's gaze hardened. Without thinking, he grabbed her hand and removed it from his face, his expression cold and unwavering.

"I'm not interested. Please don't touch me," he said firmly.

Kazuhime, far from offended, smiled—a smile laced with amusement. There was something she found strangely satisfying about his resistance.

"How interesting..." she whispered softly, before snapping her fingers. In a heartbeat, she performed a reverse summoning jutsu and sent Shiro back to the dorm.

Shiro found himself standing in the middle of the dorm room, the familiar surroundings a small comfort after the strange encounter. As he took in his surroundings, Aizen and Haruto walked into the room, both looking at him with curiosity.

"Why are you standing there like that?" Aizen asked, raising an eyebrow.

Shiro blinked, shaking off the lingering tension from his earlier experience.

"I just came out of the bathroom," he said flatly, giving the most mundane explanation he could muster.

Aizen's eyes flicked to Shiro's right hand, where a strange, fresh mark had appeared.

"And what is that?" Aizen inquired, a slight edge to his voice.

Shiro quickly searched for a plausible excuse, his mind working on instinct.

"I... I drew it with a permanent marker while you guys were gone," he said, his voice steady despite the lie.

Aizen studied him for a moment, the suspicion in his eyes never fading, but he said nothing. After a long pause, he shrugged it off and walked past Shiro, collapsing onto one of the beds with Haruto following suit. Both of them were clearly exhausted from the day's schoolwork.

Shiro could feel Aizen's eyes on him even as the older boy lay down, but he didn't respond. Instead, he too walked over to his bed, silently preparing to sleep.

The room was quiet, the hum of the night settling over them as they all drifted into a brief, uneasy rest.

Shiro was roused from his restless sleep by the persistent buzz of the system notification. His eyes flickered open for a moment, glancing at the screen, but he dismissed it with a groan. He couldn't be bothered right now. Tomorrow, he'd deal with it. With a tired sigh, he pulled the covers up, burying himself back into the warmth of his bed and quickly drifting back into the darkness of sleep.
