Chapter 26: 26. Doing the Impossible
if we reach 669 Powerstones before Sunday's reset(approximately 8 hours after this chapter is released), then another bonus chapter will be tomorrow, otherwise next chapter will be on the day after tomorrow.

Runes could be described as delayed spells in their simplest form.
However, that would be oversimplifying it.
They are just words written, not necessarily in any specific fancy language, either in the air or engraved on a physical surface.
The former is generally one-time usable, and the latter is reusable multiple times.
So, that brings us to the question: how do they exactly work if you could use any language possible?
The answer is simple - Intention.
You could write several different words in different languages, all with the same intention.
However, contrary to how simple this sounds, it's not that simple.
Why?
Because expressing the intention requires an understanding of mana.
That's why how good you are with runes and arrays is entirely dependent on your understanding of mana.
*gulp*
Akeru looked at the heavy stacks of books on the table.
"So... 9000 pages just for 'Beginner's Guide for Arrays and Runes?'" Akeru looked at Old Man Geld with an expression saying 'Tell me that it's a lie.'
"Indeed, but don't worry. After you are done with this, intermediate and advanced levels are just applications of this, so they mostly consist of examples rather than much theory."
"Is that so...?" Akeru looked at the books and then again at the librarian.
"Then, how many people are in this field?"
"That, unfortunately, I can't say as it's confidential information," the old man shook his head.
Akeru looked at him with an unimpressed stare.
'Yeah sure, I would have believed that if these books weren't dusty,' Akeru internally thought while opening one book.
His eyes widened.
"Oh, I forgot to mention, here take this," Old Man Geld gave him a magnifying glass.
"Why is the text size so SMALL?" Akeru asked with horror on his face.
He quickly looked at other books, and his horror deepened.
"Well, I don't know. I also wonder what the author was thinking when making it," he shrugged.
Akeru went with the books to a secluded table while going through the 5 stages of grief.
After sitting down, he encouraged himself.
'YOSH, it's similar to that time when I had to cram for getting a scholarship for the university,' he told himself and started delving into the content.
With that, time passed.
'Let's see if I want a rune that releases fire when somebody steps on it, I first would have to break it into multiple intentions, like activating when it feels a human body, conditions like when to stop, probably I could add duration, then about fire, its intensity, how it's going to be generated from pure mana, at what rate, how fast the released fire would be, and so on. These individual intentions themselves have to break down into multiple more intentions until the intention I want could be formed by me instantly,' Akeru furrowed his brow at the information.
'A person's size of intention is initially zero, but with practice, it can easily increase in size,' he noted.
He crammed like no tomorrow.
When he went out of the library, he was revising what he learned in the previous session while eating, talking to people, and taking a dump.
He was even seeing runes and stuff in his dreams.
People wanted to approach him due to his reputation and what happened at the party, but due to him rarely walking around, and even when doing that, the people who were lucky enough to see him didn't approach him.
His eyes were very scary.
He had become very absent-minded doing stuff, due to technically focusing on his revision while out and thus "multi-tasking."
With that, a month passed, and the day of departure came into view.
"Woah, what happened? You look like a zombie walking around!" Mimosa exclaimed while looking at him with her hands on her mouth.
"I did it."
"Huh?"
"I finally did it."
Mimosa had a puzzled expression on her face as she saw Akeru repeating the same statement.
'I fucking crammed the whole thing in a month! No wonder people used to say that I am a genius,' Akeru at the moment was feeling immense pride in himself.
His understanding of mana had really increased drastically in the last month.
If people heard what he did in a month, then they would be shocked to the core.
He could finally understand some of the nuanced points of why he had to control mana in a certain way to have efficiency gains he had learned recently.
He could naturally see a few more ways he could optimize it due to him having really high mana control.
Those weren't present in the book he had read, but that was natural due to only spending one week on that previously.
"Hmm, you were saying?" Akeru looked at Mimosa, who was looking at him with an indescribable expression.
"I think you seem sleep-deprived for a long time," she suddenly said.
"Nah, I don't think so. I sleep at least 8 hours daily."
"What? No way!" She gasped in shock.
Akeru was truly baffled as she actually seemed shocked.
"I was just thinking about something else. Anyway, how are we going to go?" Akeru asked while looking around at a few more royal children standing around.
The total count was 7 people.
"We would be teleported to the harbour with the help of a spatial mage, and after that, we are going to go by ship," Mimosa said while regaining her composure.
Right on cue, they felt a hole in the air appearing in sight and a man appearing from it.
He had a cloak on his head, so his face was not visible.
He talked for half a minute with an old man who was exuding elegance in every way Akeru saw him.
Akeru went through the hole in space after Mimosa.
After standing in a corner with Mimosa, the latter asked, "Are you feeling okay? It seems it's your first time going through a spatial rift."
"Yeah, just feel dizzy." 'Why did I feel a blue line on the spatial rift? Does this mean that I could attack it? But it was kind of shifting every moment, so that was weird,' Akeru thought while looking around.
He looked at the massive ship in the water.
'Damn, that looks like the size of a titan or something,' Akeru chuckled.
"Hmm?"
"The ship is definitely big," Akeru replied to her inquiry.
She hummed in agreement.
"Actually, it has rations for a few years stored inside it," Mimosa suddenly said.
"Wait, why do we need this much food to begin with?" Akeru asked with his eyebrows furrowing.
'Maybe it's kind of like a gift to be given to Heart Kingdom, but why would they give food as a gift? Plus, I think they are already richer in vegetation than us from what I have heard.'
"It's in case we get stranded on an unknown island for a few years."
"Huh? For real?" Akeru asked with a dumbfounded expression.
Mimosa leaned close to him and said in a low tone, "Actually, 68 per cent of ships sent to sea generally never return. We sometimes only see the debris of the ships washed on the shore. No wonder only 7 people came to this exchange program."
"What? Why didn't you tell me about this before?" 'Don't tell me that Leopold was giving an excuse to not go. No wonder his expression when he saw me going,' Akeru's face instantly got pale.
"Oh my, you actually got spooked out. I was just kidding," she said with a teasing smile.
"Bruh."
They boarded the ship, and everyone was given their own room.
"Will that old man not follow us? I thought he was supposed to be our supervisor or something," Akeru asked Mimosa.
"No, there's really no need. We have some late teens also with us who are magic knights for protection and supervision," Mimosa shook her head.
"Also, it might not look like it, but my brother is really strong," she pointed at her brother who was a distance away from them and was saying something.
"Yeah, I know. It's hard to really say if you look at him from afar," Akeru said with a sweatdrop.
He went to his assigned room.
His eyes suddenly widened.
