But before Madha could explain further, it was his turn.
Gara watched closely as Madha walked up to Langga.
"Please awaken something," Gara silently prayed. "He's helped me so much. He deserves this."
Langga's eyes widened in surprise, then he spoke in a low but clear voice, just loud enough for the white-robed figures behind him to hear.
"Giant Bloodline. Talent: Flesh Shield."
Madha blinked in shock. Gara was stunned. Even the people behind Langga began murmuring with excitement.
From his front-row spot, Gara could hear their whispers clearly.
"There are fewer than ten humans with a Giant Bloodline in the entire Empire."
"A human-Giant pairing almost never results in children."
"But he's not a hybrid—he's pure human."
"That's even better. Giants are slow and clumsy, but he didn't inherit any of their flaws. He just got their strength."

Gara listened to every word and couldn't help but feel proud.
"Madha really does deserve a Bloodline that strong," he thought, a warm smile tugging at his lips.
Gara grinned to himself. Out of habit, he opened Madha's status panel. He'd been checking everyone's after their turn anyway.

Langga's voice boomed in Gara's ear like thunder.
Madha had already moved off to the side, where a group of white-robed clerics stood. They'd asked him to wait there. Probably because of how rare his Bloodline was.
His face lit up with pride... but there was a flicker of worry too, as his eyes briefly glanced toward Gara.
Gara stepped forward.
He locked eyes with Langga, his stare sharp and unblinking.
Langga finally got a clear look at the boy standing in front of him. He reached out and took Gara's hand. It fit perfectly in his grip.
Then he looked directly into Gara's face... and was stunned.
He had guessed last night that Gara was unusually attractive. But seeing him in full daylight only confirmed it.
A small, fair face. A delicate nose, high but not wide. Soft, pink lips. Dark, clear eyes with long lashes. Thin but well-defined eyebrows.
The contrast of pale skin, dark eyes, and pink lips was... breathtaking.
Langga swallowed hard, unaware he had done so.
"Professor Alterian?" a voice whispered from behind. "What are the results?"
Langga snapped out of it.
Gara gave a small scoff under his breath, quiet enough that only Langga could hear.
"Professor? What kind of degenerate professor acts like that?" Gara thought annoyed.
But he quickly forgot about Langga the moment he felt something warm flowing through him.
It started from the hand clasped in Langga's, then traveled through his arm, to his chest, and down to the other hand resting on the citrine magic stone.
Gara's eyes fluttered shut.
He began to pray desperately to the Goddess Freya.
"Please, Goddess Freya... Give me another Bloodline. This one's totally usele— I mean, it's not suitable for work. I want water. Any water. I want to bathe properly. I beg you, just water…"

He didn't speak for a long moment.
The white-robed officials behind him began whispering to each other, frowning in concern.
What on earth had this young man done to make the renowned Professor Langga Alterian freeze up like this, even twice in one ceremony?
Langga finally cleared his throat and muttered, just as softly as before.
"Elemental Bloodline. Talent: Unlimited Water."
The robed officials behind Langga were just as stunned when they heard the result.
Their whispers buzzed like a hive of excited bees but Gara didn't really catch what they were saying. He was too busy basking in his own happiness.
In his mind, he was already imagining his mom's proud smile.
Still, a few sentences from the crowd did slip into his ears:
"That talent works both on and off the battlefield!"
"He might be the one who can save Bota Village…"
Gara was soon ushered to stand beside Madha, who had also been told to wait nearby.
"Your Talent sounds really powerful, Gara," Madha said, his eyes curling into crescent moons as he smiled.
A tiny number above Madha's head ticked upward... 96%.
Gara no longer felt annoyed by the little heart icon floating above him. In fact, he smiled right back, wide and honest.
"You're amazing too, Madha."
"I'll protect you with my Talent," Madha declared with pure sincerity.
The words hit Gara harder than expected.

"Nope. Don't think about it, Gara. Don't even go there."
