Chapter 168: Amassing Wealth
"Have you heard? The Blue Spear and Dark Dagger are already on pre-order? I plan on placing an order today."
"You've only just found out? Haha. I already made a pre-order yesterday and got into the list barely in time."
"Heh. Step aside, peasants. While you guys make pre-orders, I've already gotten mine."
"No way."
"Yes way."
"Show us."
The speaker pulled out a black dagger and after channeling stellar energy into it, it transformed into a handgun.
"Oh my god. It's the real deal."
"Of course. I had to depend on my family's connections just to get this."
With the launch of the Blue Spear and Dark Dagger, as well as the grand opening of the Legacy Crafts dealership, many freelancers and vestige enthusiasts all rushed to get theirs. However, Legacy Crafts had announced that there was a limited supply of the vestiges and as such, people would need to apply on a waiting list.
For the launch, there were twenty pieces of each vestige, adding up to forty, but the number of people who wanted to get a hand on the products greatly exceeded this number. As such, even getting on the waiting list was a hassle and one would need a certain level of influence or wealth to do so at the moment. But then again, the vestiges cost so much that only such individuals could even afford it.
Those with deep connections to Novanio Tech made use of those connections to get early access to the vestige, but they had to pay an even higher price than the official price just to do so. Through this method, the Legacy Crafts dealership was able to make an incredible amount of money following their opening.
Lucas also had his own share of the profits as the vestiges had to be purchased from him at the system price, but he was unable to make more than that due to the system regulations. Naturally, this irked him considerably, but Lucas wasn't one to be greedy. The pricing of the system was already exaggerated compared to market prices, so Lucas' profit was hefty.
Only a week had passed since the opening of Legacy Crafts dealership, but after selling the forty vestiges to the dealership, Lucas was now loaded.
Previously, his Grade 3 vestiges sold for between sixteen thousand (16000) to twenty thousand (20000) federal coins. However, Lucas' vestige-smithing skill had constantly been on the rise, and with the acquisition of stellar circuits theory, the quality of his vestiges had soared even higher, thereby increasing the base price. At the moment, a Blue Spear sold for twenty-four thousand (24000) federal coins in the Seven Sparks Forge while the Black Dagger sold for twenty-two thousand (22000) federal coins. The market price at Legacy Crafts dealership however, cost even more and was at twenty-seven thousand (27000) for a Blue Spear, and twenty-five thousand (25000) for a Black Dagger. This was the base price, and it could go higher if one cut through corners and went behind the waiting list to get the vestiges.
One of the reasons why the Legacy Crafts dealership sold at a higher price —apart from desiring profit— was that they did so in other districts, which added to their cost of operation.
In summary, the profit being made was satisfactory to both sides of the deal. Even Lucas, despite having to pay 'taxes' to the system, was making a ton; the rates had dropped from seventy five percent to sixty percent, which expanded his potential earnings.

The reception of the Blue Spear and Dark Dagger in the vestige-smith market was incredible as many wanted to get their hands on it. Those who couldn't wait to do so went to the original store to order, which added to Lucas' profits, albeit he couldn't sell much; after all, scarcity breeds demand.
The agreement between Lucas and Novanio Tech was that the Legacy Crafts dealership would only sell his vestiges in their branches located in the other fifteen districts, while Lucas would also put a cap on the amount he sold. However, there was nothing stopping those in Baylands City from ordering the vestiges from the other Legacy Crafts dealership branches, although there was the added delivery cost. This made the Legacy Crafts dealership capable of still profiting from Baylands City without breaking the agreement.
Logically, they shouldn't have been able to compete with Lucas, but some individuals would rather order from the dealer than the store. However, Lucas didn't bother himself about that because in the end, he was still making a profit.
From the twenty pieces of each of the two vestiges, Lucas had already made nine hundred and twenty thousand (920000) federal coins in revenue, a sum that made his brain fry. If it were some other vestige-smith, they would have to subtract production cost from the amount, but Lucas had no worries about that since he was still depending on materials provided by the system. However, after the system's taxing, he was left with only three hundred and sixty-eight thousand (368,000) federal coins.
If it were in the past, Lucas would have cursed at the system. But he recently noticed that his stock of materials was constantly being replenished by the system, as such, he consider the deductions as a production cost.
After settling Kelvin for the month and covering some other important bills, Lucas had around three hundred and sixty thousand left. He was planning to go material shopping since he couldn't be limited to only working with the materials the system provided as that would limit his creativity.
Apart from the Blue Spear and Dark Dagger, the Legacy Crafts dealership was also open to making more deals with Lucas, after the Novanio Tech higher-ups realised that the quality of vestiges Lucas had created was of a higher level than the majority in the market. They were planning to have the Legacy Crafts dealership target both the mid and higher-end levels of the vestige-smith market using quality. Some of the higher-ups —specifically those in Lucy's faction— were hoping Lucas could help them with this.
As such, Lucas decided to take the day off an go shopping. But unbeknownst to him, the performance of the two vestiges had set up a storm that would soon bring him troubles and challenges.
