Between Your Letter and My Reply

Chapter 104

Chapter 104

Still, now wasn’t the time. So Damian intended to keep his mouth shut for now.

“Anyway, about those guys. The ‘Lion’s Heart’ guys.”

Lilliana changed the subject and called Timo to sit in front of her. She petted Timo, and Timo, pleased, rolled over on her back and panted.

“I understand why they’re after you. You’re worth exploiting in many ways. But why me…?”

Lilliana, with a genuinely puzzled expression, conjured a small flame at her fingertip. She held it out to Casey.

“This is all the power I have, right? It’s insignificant compared to yours. What good would it do to absorb this little power of mine?”

“Hmm… Lily.”

Casey said with a troubled face,

“You tend to underestimate your power too much.”

“Why?”

“I have a spirit’s body, but you have a human body. There’s a limit to how much a human body can control the power of a spirit. So you’re unconsciously regulating your power so that it doesn’t exceed the limits of your body.”

“Really?”

“Of course, if we say the spirit power we both have is 100, it’s true that I took about 90, and you only took about 10. But that’s just a relative number. Looking at your power purely, it’s not that weak. As proof, your heart stopped three times when your power went out of control. Your body overloaded because of your own power.”

“Hmm…”

Lilliana narrowed her eyes and looked at the flickering flame on her fingertip.

“So you’re saying that theoretically, it’s possible to do more than this?”

“If your body can handle it, that is. But your body will never be able to withstand your power.”

Lilliana clicked her tongue at Casey’s assertion and extinguished the flame.

“Then, brother, why did you give up on taking my power?”

Casey blinked at Lilliana’s question and replied,

“Because you would die?”

“You don’t want me to die?”

“Isn’t that obvious?”

“It wasn’t obvious to you two years ago. You acted like it didn’t matter to you whether I lived or died. We were apart for so long since we were young, we don’t even have a sibling bond.”

Casey fell into thought.

Indeed, there was a surprising change between himself two years ago and himself now. But if he had to explain what had happened to Lilliana, he didn’t know where to start.

During that time, he had seen many things while traveling the world. He had ‘learned’ about human emotions and culture and knew in his head that he had to act in a certain way in certain situations.

But that didn’t mean his thirst for Lilliana’s power had completely disappeared.

So he was a little worried about meeting Lilliana. He was afraid that he might try to take her power again…

He was so afraid of that that when he met her at the age of 18, he avoided her and kept his distance.

But when they fled to Edenfallen together when he was 20, he couldn’t do that. He had to face Lilliana properly and control his impulses so as not to harm her.

To be honest, he wasn’t sure if he could do it. But that was an unnecessary worry.

Lilliana was…

“Lily.”

Casey smiled and leaned towards Lilliana.

“Shall we go out?”

Lilliana’s eyes widened at Casey’s suggestion. Casey spread his arms and said,

“Let’s go out and eat something delicious… Ah! Damian, do you know any good places to visit in Nichio?”

“Ask Lilliana, not me. She’s only done a dozen things on her list of 100 things to do in Nichio. Lilliana knows better. Right, Lilliana? These were things you were going to do with me anyway. Casey is just tagging along. It’s strange to refuse when Casey has no intention of harming you.”

Lilliana’s face flushed red at Damian’s words.

“Oh, no, that’s…! That’s true, but…!”

Hearing that, Casey said with a look of even more excitement than Lilliana,

“You had so many things you wanted to do? Then what do you want to do first? Just say the word! Actually, I’ve never properly enjoyed myself in Nichio, so I don’t know much about it!”

Lilliana scratched the back of her head with an embarrassed expression.

“Then…”

She said the destination with a rather awkward face. Damian slightly regretted giving Lilliana the choice after hearing her words.

***

“Wow.”

“Wow?”

“Woooow!”

The exclamations made by the three in turn meant, ‘This is tiring,’ ‘This is amazing,’ and ‘I love this!’

Lilliana, fidgeting from the entrance of the amusement park, said to Damian,

“Damian! I want cotton candy!”

Damian, who had been in charge of the wallet since the pickpocketing incident, handed Lilliana some coins without a word.

Watching Lilliana run to the stall and choose the color of her cotton candy, Damian sighed.

“I never thought it would be this place.”

“Why? It seems fun.”

“I’m glad you and Lilliana think so.”

“Have you ever been to an amusement park?”

“No.”

“Then why are you already worried that it won’t be fun?”

“Have you been?”

“Of course. Not one this big, though.”

The ‘Nichio Amusement Park,’ the pride of not only Nichio but all of Istarica, was one of the most famous attractions in the world.

This amusement park, proudly ranked among the top 10 must-visit attractions in Nichio, was a place Lilliana had been longing to visit once her condition stabilized.

“It should be fine now that three months have passed,”

Lilliana said, munching on her cotton candy.

“Even at the hospital, they said mild excitement was okay.”

“Still, you shouldn’t do anything too strenuous…”

“So, I’m fine.”

Damian’s nagging forced Lilliana to get annoyed.

“I won’t do anything that will strain me. Okay?”

Damian finally closed his mouth at that. While he was arguing with Lilliana, he noticed that Casey was strangely quiet and turned to see him holding something horrifying.

It was a fascinating item for Lilliana and Casey, but it looked truly horrifying to Damian. Of course it would, when they were trying to put a headband with half-folded puppy ears on him!

Casey, wearing a headband with cat ears sticking straight up, also put a headband with rabbit ears on Lilliana. And as Damian struggled to take off the puppy ears, Casey tried to convince him.

“Lily likes it! Lily likes it!”

“That’s right! Damian, you’re cute!”

Lilliana supported Casey from the side, but Damian eventually took off the headband and stuffed it into his bag.

“Aw… You’re supposed to wear these kinds of things when you come to an amusement park.”

“That’s right, that’s right. You promised to go along with us.”

“That’s right, that’s right.”

At Casey and Lilliana’s protests, Damian already felt exhausted and wanted to go home.

But seeing Lilliana running around with rabbit ears flapping and Casey walking gracefully beside her like a cat, he thought it was quite a sight.

It was amazing how he had found a headband that suited Lilliana so perfectly. Lilliana looked so much like a rabbit that it was as if a rabbit had transformed into a human.

Entering the amusement park, Lilliana looked at the map and said,

“What should we do first?”

“They have animal exhibits as well as rides,” Damian murmured, looking intrigued. Lilliana asked,

“You don’t know what’s here?”

“I wasn’t interested, so I didn’t know.”

“Not very useful as a guide,” Casey scoffed. Ignoring him, Damian roughly planned their route.

“Let’s look around the nearby places first. Here…”

Damian poked a spot on the map with his finger and said,

“There’s a petting zoo where you can feed rabbits around here.”

“Rabbits? That’s cute!”

Lilliana’s eyes sparkled as she looked at Damian, her rabbit ears fluttering.
