Chapter 7: A Gross problem 2
Ben and Gwen lay low on the hillside, watching tension rise in the clearing below. The X Co. troops were forming a semicircle, rifles pointed, yet holding fire. The mutant monkey in a suit stood confidently, arms behind his back, calm as a glacier.
"Should we do something?" Gwen whispered.
Ben frowned. "Let's wait a bit. If they go after each other, we might learn more. Besides, I want to see what this about."
Below, Animo growled, backing closer to his frog. "You're not getting anything, you hear me?! Not my creatures, not my research, and definitely not my brain scan!"
The monkey mutant didn't even flinch. "You've been a liability ever since you injected yourself with that unstable batch. The Board gave me full permission to resolve this… permanently."
Animo snarled. The frog tensed. The rat twitched beside him like a loaded spring.
"Here we go," Gwen murmured.
Just as the frog lunged toward the X Co. soldiers, Ben stood up with a sigh. "Alright, that's enough. I've seen enough. Time to act now."
He tapped the Omnitrix.
A green glow. A hum. And for the first time, Ben pressed down and transformed into Four Arms.
The red-skinned, four-armed titan landed hard on the ridge, cracking the stone beneath him. He roared.
Everyone turned.
"WHO—?!" Animo shouted.
The X Co. troops raised weapons. The frog mutant paused.
Ben didn't wait.
He vaulted off the ridge, landing squarely between Animo and the X Co. squad. "Nobody's getting anything today!"
With a mighty leap, he slammed two fists into the ground. The shockwave sent half the soldiers flying. Before they could recover, he sprinted forward and jumped the frog mid-leap, sending it crashing into a tree.
The monkey mutant's glasses cracked. "Target is hostile! Neutralize!"
Ben spun and hurled a large boulder he picked up at the command vehicle. It exploded on impact, knocking out the monkey mutant away and almost taking out most of there squad.
The X Co. team panicked.
"Where did this guy come from?!"
"He's not one of ours!"
In seconds, Four Arms dismantled the remaining squad in mear moment he was unstoppable. Then he punched the rat across the yard, swung a soldier into three others, and stomped the frog's head into the dirt.
Animo, eyes wide, backed away in a panic. "Who—who are you?!"
Ben cracked his four knuckles. "Wouldn't you like to know."
Suddenly, the rat and frog both lunged at him at once.
Ben grunted, caught off guard by the two-on-one.
The frog's tongue lashed around one of his arms while the rat chomped at his side.
Ben growled. "Okay. That's it. Time for plan B."
He yelled out
"Gwen! Hit the plan B! Now!"
From their hiding spot, Gwen whipped out a remote, clicked twice.
PHEW-PHEW!
Two plasma bursts shot out from the bike's custom blasters, nailing the rat square in the chest. It staggered, hissing.
Freed from its bite, Ben grabbed the frog's tongue, swung it like a whip, and smashed the frog into the rat with a bone-rattling crunch.
Both monsters hit the ground, groaning.
Animo tried to run.
Ben stomped once and leapt, landing in front of him.
"Going somewhere?"
Animo turned and tried to inject himself with another vial.
Ben slapped it away and KO'd him with a karate slap.
He looked back to see that the monkey mutant has already run away while he was Dealing with two over grown pest.
As silence settled in, Gwen jogged down the hill, phone in hand. "Already called Grandpa Max. He's on his way."
Ben nodded.
Within 15 minutes, Grandpa Max's RV rumbled onto the scene.
Grandpa max stepped out with a familiar serious face. "Nice job, kids. The Police will take care of this mess."
From the road, 'police' vans pulled in — but Ben knew better. These probably weren't local cops. They were most likely Plumber operatives, in disguise, ready to clean up the chaos.
As the troops secured Animo and the X Co. goons, Ben looked around.
Ben narrowed his eyes. " that monkey guy run away he did not stick around. "
Max clapped a hand on his shoulder. "Well you did good ben now let the police handle it."
Ben nodded
Gwen walked up beside him, brushing dust off her sleeves. "So… that was dramatic. Four Arms, huh? really your naming sense is so bad"
Ben smirked. "Yeah, he's strong. Like, crazy strong."
Gwen crossed her arms. "Still not as graceful as me, though."
Ben scoffed. "Grace doesn't punch giant mutant frogs into trees."
She rolled her eyes. "Whatever, tough guy. Anyway, we still need to pick up groceries, remember?"
Ben groaned. "Seriously? After all this?"
"Ya Dweeb we still need those supplies
Plus you where telling me about spices," Gwen said, pulling up the shopping list on her phone.
Ben scratched the back of his head. "Fine, but I'm making dinner tonight then."
"Oh no," she said immediately. "Not happening."
"What? Come on! I saw this recipe with Mom a while back potato thing with cheese and spices, super crispy on top. It looked awesome."
Gwen raised an eyebrow. "You? Cook?"
Ben looked genuinely offended. "Hey! I can cook."
"You burned toast last week, Ben."
"That toaster was broken, you will eat your fingers tonight ," Ben said confidently.
Gwen snorted. "Fine, prove it tonight. But if it tastes like burnt tire, you're eating all of it alone."
Ben grinned, walking toward the RV. "Deal. You'll be begging for seconds."
She rolled her eyes again but couldn't hide the smirk on her face. "Yeah, yeah. Come on, Chef Hero. Let's go get your magic potatoes."
The two of them headed back toward the RV, the sun beginning to dip behind the hills. The chaos of the fight was over for now but the weirdness of their summer had only just begun.
