Azura the youngest pope

Chapter 1: I’m five years old now

Hey there, I'm Azura, after my untimely death, I met this beautiful goddess who sent my soul to this world and I was reborn as a baby in the blessed land of Elysium the territory of the Eye of God church.

It's been five years since I've been here and I don't have any parents here, according to what I overheard from my caretakers, my father was a saint of the church and he died in battle with the demons, yes that's right, demons, I could hardly believe it but i was able to accept it quickly because my mother was a dark elf and she died after giving birth to me.

Quite the tragic beginning right? No mother, no father I'd make the perfect villain but that's not my plan, my goddess asked me to protect the humans here and with the power she gave me, that's what I plan to do. I'll tell you a little secret, I'm in love with the goddess shhh.

Anyway, right now I'm in the all knowing library, quite literally the biggest one in the continent, I'm in the upper floors available only to high level clergy and nobles, I only got permission because of the achievements of parents and also because the church believes i might have inherited my parents talents.

When I turn ten I will have my talent tested and if it's average I'm going to be sent to an orphanage and will be able to become the lowest level clergy when I grow up, but if I have saint level talent which is the second highest just below divine talent, I'll be able to continue staying in the sky palace, which by the way is a literally palace floating in the sky.

Basically I have five years remaining, till I decided what to do about my future but I'm not worried about my talent as I have angel blood flowing in my veins.

At the moment I'm sitting alone at a table, in my hands is a books with the title "Red Ether" it's basically about the history of this world Ether, according to the book around 9000 years ago a great calamity befall the world as demons descended from the sky, not ascended from below but they fell from the sky.

They landed on the continent north east from the blessed land, the continent known as the dark continent now, the demons killed everything on the continent then they spread to the rest of the world, their numbers were nothing serious but their power was incredible, they were untouchable they left mountains of corpses and rivers of blood on their path.

This massacre lasted an entire three days until, the various leaders of the world came together, the humans, the elves and the beast kin all had to unite and push back the demons to the dark continent, then using calamity level magic, they destroyed a large part of the continent, creating a buffer between them and the dark continent, that buffer was now known as red ether as it's still bathed in blood till this day, it's the war zone where his father died.

This was all very important information for Azura as the future guardian of humanity he had to know his enemies and their strengths and weaknesses, that's why he's been coming here this last year, all for intelligence gathering for when the day comes.

"Master cross, it's almost time for the holy service, we have to leave for the monastery immediately". The servant who was assigned to me reminded me, I was so invested in the book I lost track of time.

Closing the book with a loud bang, I put it back on the shelf and headed for the mana powered elevator, heading downstairs, as I was heading towards the exit, the receptionist called out. "Hope you visit again tomorrow master cross". This lady was a priestess of the church, she helped me a lot when I first came here, so I smiled and replied "See you tomorrow miss Luna"

I walked towards the exit and the moment I walked out I was greeted by a beautiful clear sky, the sweet smell of roses, and the mama charged air made me refreshed, this is the blessed city, pollution is nonexistent and the weather is always perfectly cool.

Tall buildings with grand and ancient designs graced this ancient city, most buildings were like huge cathedrals built with white stone and marble, all of them looking elegant you wouldn't find any abandoned buildings here, they were all old but still consistently maintained so the city always looked beautiful.

As I walked through the city enjoying the scenery, my target was the biggest building in the centre of the city, the monastery, it looked grand, with white walls and blue stained windows, statues of winged beings stood tall at the entrance of the monastery, they kinda reminded me of the goddess.
