Chapter 205: Kill The Infidels
"I see. But, Great Paragon, I meant those who do believe in the Eternity Faith… yet follow the wrong path," Rowan said, still smiling
"What do you mean?" the Paragon frowned. A bad feeling suddenly crept over him.
"I mean the path that the great god disapproves of… yet says nothing. He has even commanded his Prophet not to speak of it—hoping that we, the followers, would realize it ourselves. Hoping that we would punish the Infidels hiding within the faith," Rowan finished—and sent the signal.
Immediately, all the other players—including Velina and Zarek—stood up from their seats.
"I believe we must kill the Infidels if we want to please the great god. The ones who have followed a false and corrupt path this whole time." Then he drew his weapon.
"fuck it" Daniel immediately realized their plan and turned to Evangelin.
"That?" Evangelin frowned as she noticed a group of pilgrims suddenly attacking others, killing them brutally. She stood up instantly.
"Kill the Infidels—death is nothing but a blessing for them," Rowan said with a smile, his gaze turning toward the Paragon.
Naturally, he had already considered that the Paragon might intervene—and had prepared a plan for that too.
"How dare you!" As expected, the Paragon shouted in fury, releasing a terrifying aura.
"Why?! Why are my own followers suddenly doing this?" But what he saw shocked him even more.
He saw many other Ashbound members also rushing toward the Endurers, attacking and killing them.
That wasn't all—he could even hear them calling the others Infidels, shouting that Infidels must die.
What happened? Why had things turned out like this all of a sudden?
At that moment, Rowan pulled out a set of explosive talismans from his inventory and threw them in different directions.
He always carried a few of those for safety. Who would've thought they'd come in handy like this?
Seeing the explosions erupt, the Paragon quickly retreated.
"Paragon, you must leave this place now!" the guards rushed toward him.
"But what about the people?! I can't just let my followers die like this!" Evern protested and tried to act again to help.
But the guards blocked his way. They couldn't allow anything to happen to a Paragon.
"Please! We'll protect the people! You must leave now!"
"Paragon Evern, it's obvious this was a trap set by enemies to assassinate you. They might have other tools or weapons too."
The Paragon frowned, but their words made sense. He hesitated, but in the end, sighed and left immediately.
Two guards escorted him while the rest rushed toward the pilgrims who had started attacking the others.
Blood was everywhere, and the number of dead was only increasing.
Evangelin had already intervened from the beginning, going all out to stop those trying to murder the innocent.
But the number of attackers was simply too many. It wasn't easy to kill or arrest them all on the spot—some of them were quite strong.
"Thankfully, everything went just as planned," Rowan sighed in relief as he watched the chaos unfold.
Even some of the real Ashbound followers were helping them kill the Endurers. The Endurers were terrified, running in all directions.
The key reason, of course, was Velina's innate skill, which allowed her to influence the thoughts of others to some extent—causing Ashbound members to attack the Endurers.
The only thing needed was for the players to blend in among the Ashbound and start attacking the Endurers—then the real Ashbound followed suit.
After this event, the Ashbound's reputation would be destroyed completely, and there would be no way Evern would be chosen as the next leader.
"Help us!"
"Why are you doing this?! We're all followers of the great god Horvand!"
"Ha! You're all just Infidels! We didn't do anything before because the Paragon didn't say anything. But didn't you see? Our Paragon left without stopping us! That means he agrees with us!"
"Kill them! Kill the Infidels and offer their blood to the great god!"
"May Horvand forgive us for letting traitors and Infidels live among us and enter this holy city!"
"What the hell is going on here?!" Evangelin knocked out one of the Ashbound attackers and looked around in horror.
The area was drenched in blood. Smoke was rising, and the fighting was getting more and more violent.
Even the Endurers began fighting back—it had turned into an all-out war.
How did this happen? Why did it suddenly erupt like this? She couldn't think of anything except brainwashing.
Or… maybe this was the true nature of the Ashbound? Maybe they had always harbored hatred toward the Endurers and just used this opportunity to show it?
"Why isn't the Prophet doing anything? Is he just going to sit there and watch his followers get slaughtered?"
Just then, a voice echoed through the entire gathering—a voice that sounded as if it was fused with death itself… Everyone turned to see a handsome young man with white hair standing on the stage.
"All followers of the great god Horvand! The enemy has infiltrated our ranks. We are all children of the great god Horvand, and all He wants from us is to live together as a family, forever, in Eternity!"
"The only goal of our enemies—those Demons—is to make us kill our own brothers and sisters." Daniel's voice rang out with power and clarity.
Of course, this wasn't just an ordinary voice. He had fused his speech with the energy of Death, giving it extra charisma and authority.
Daniel had already noticed that some skill—or something similar—was affecting the minds of the Ashbound followers.
So, using his spiritual power, he pierced into the minds of the pilgrims who were under the influence and broke them free from that external control.
"Have you forgotten? Since the very founding of the Eternity Faith, demons have been our greatest enemies! Stop fighting each other. Find the demons who infiltrated us and punish them for the dark magic they used on us!" Daniel's voice echoed once again.
