Chapter Seven: Trust And The Escape. 

 Kai paces around the room. Gripping his phone, staring at the picture of Nora sent from an unknown number. 

"I can't let her die because of me". Merthur sits on the luxury chair watching Kai walk around the room like he enjoyed it. 

Kai runs to Merthur, holding his hand. "Merthur, you remember your promise. You promised to protect her"

"I do and I'm keeping that. You just have to trust me", Merthur responds. 

Then he stands up and walks out. 

Kai was getting frustrated with Merthur's calmness, he was running out of patience. 

He has had enough and he plans to escape,see briefly cause it might be the last time she might see him since he plans on turning himself in to these people that are after him. 

He has managed to study the guards patrol schedule. They were less active at dawn, so it's better he executed his escape at that hour. 

Learned how to disable collar trackers like that Merthur had put on him through the Internet, he just needed a metal pin and a battery heat. 

Kai has requested a guard give him his old clothes which can serve as a good disguise. The previous night he had hid them in the laundry room. 

All his plans were set, he hopefully would be able pull his escape off tomorrow.

 Kai checked his phone, the time was exactly 4:16am. He jumped off his bed, it was time. He leaves a note for Merthur. 

"Thank you for everything. I just can't keep waiting, I would never forgive myself if anything happens to Nora"

He places the note on the pillow. Makes his way to the laundry room, wearing the guard clothes he previously hid there. He manages to bypass detection, his heart pounding as he comes across a few guards on the way. 

He was at the gates, he looked back at the mansion. 

"I'm sorry".

 Kai made his way to the hospital, a cap over his head. 

He peeps through the glass of Nora's room. She laid in bed, asleep peacefully, an IV drip connected to her. 

Slowly walking in, he kisses her forehead, waking her up. 

She opens her eyes. "Kai, where have you been?", she says as she yawns

"I have been caught up in a lot, I'm sorry Nora", he pulls her into a hug.

"What stuff have you been up to?"

"Is that why you always sent your handsome and rich friend over?", she asked. 

"Friend?"Kai asked, confused. 

"Yes, Merthur. He comes to see me often, with a lot of stuff too", she smiles happily. 

"I wasn't aware he went that far", Kai says pretending like he was even a little aware Merthur was ever here. 

"He's a good guy, very interesting than you keeps me company so I didn't miss you at all"

"Good guy?", Kai scoffed. To him, Merthur was like the devil was reincarnated. 

Kai and Nora chatted for hours, till it was morning 

"You should rest, and I have to go", Kai finally said. 

"Okay, nice to see your face. Make sure you send Merthur over"

Kai steps out of the hospital building and goes to the underground car pack . He couldn't believe his ears when he was told by Nora the ruthless and cold Merthur is a good guy that's interesting. 

Though he asked Merthur to protect his sister, why would he hide the fact he cares about Nora just like he did? 

"Why do this behind his back?"

He takes his phone in his back pocket, and is about to dial Merthur's number when three vampires appear in front of him, knocking him to the floor . 

"You are coming with us, rare blood", the leader of the rogue vampire smirks. 

"No get away from me"

They grabbed him forcefully, sinking their nails into his skin to drink from him. 

Kai screams struggling from their grip. An unseen force knocks them three off at once. 

Merthur appeared, eyes blazing red with fury, fags blaring. 

"How dare you lay your hands on what's mine", he grabbed the rogue leader by the neck, lifting up effortlessly pinning him to the wall hard enough as Kai could literally hear the snapping sound of bones. 

Merthur locked eyes on Kai, who is terrified, tears filling his eyes
