Chapter 28: 28. The Aria XXV
She was unworthy of his love but she was far too selfish to give up on it.
She was truly a horrible person , if it wasn't for her then Siegfried wouldn't be treated like this.
With his strength he didn't need to suffer this injustice.
But in the end when she thought about it she felt that it was better this way.
Her sister was no less beautiful than her and she looked upto Morgan a lot , she knew although her sister appeared cold she was a good person.
Siegfried deserves someone who could give him her all.
Someone who wouldn't put him through as much pain as she had.
Siegfried might think she was naive or pure but it was far from it , she was far more perceptive than she let on.
She knew about the bad rumours of Siegfried being propagated among the nobility and citizens alike.
She also knew that without her father slightly giving way to it these rumours won't spread like this.
Artoria never believed in the incident where Siegfried was claimed to have slaughtered everyone in a noble family.
Where he didn't even spare the children and elderly, she knew what kind of person Siegfried was so she never believed in such rumours.
She believed it was someone else that did it and they pinned the blame on Siegfried to make his reputation bad.
With all the things Siegfried had done the citizens feared him more than they respected him.
Each time she heard the term 'Hound' she would be filled with sadness and rage. Even the deregatory way in which he was called the attack dog of the King made her be filled with guilt.
What did they know!
They didn't know why he was going through all of these difficulties, he was neither doing this for fame or riches.
Only she knew the reason for his struggles.
Which only made her blame herself, all of these thoughts only further reinforced the self loathing inside her mind.
She believed it was better for Siegfried to marry her sister , while it might be her second marriage she believed her sister was still better than her.
Atleast her sister could give Siegfried the love he deserves unlike her who has been stringing him along all these years.
Everything was better this way and maybe this was retribution for all the harm she caused him.....
....
Everyone has left the throne room leaving only Morgan who had a cold expression and Uther who seemed to have a pleased smile on his face.
Morgan didn't bother saying anything as she just stared at Uther for a few seconds before leaving.
But one thing was sure , her silence did not mean she wasn't angry and Uther would understand it a few years from now.
But at that time it would be too late for him to even regret it...
...
Morgan was feeling a myriad of emotions right now but among them there was two emotions that made her feel conflicted.
The most prevalent one was anger at being treated like a pawn.
Morgan's expression twisted in rage as she thought of Uther's audacity and his lack of care for his own daughter.
'How dare he!' Morgan cursed inside her mind as she felt her previous plan should be sped up.
She was the Fairy Queen not some powerless woman who could only listen to the kings words and go with his arrangements.
But she felt conflicted because she felt a sense of twisted happiness and satisfaction when she thought of Artoria's sadness.
Although she was vehemently opposed to this marriage she couldn't help but be excited when she thought of taking away something that was so dear to Artoria.
Morgan may not like Siegfried but when she thought of his relationship to Artoria it made her feel excited and she felt a twisted sense of pleasure when she remembered Artoria's expression when she heard Uther's decree.
All her life she blamed Artoria for taking things dear to her , her mother died giving birth to Artoria, her father gave more importance to Artoria, even the position of heir was given to Artoria.
She was always treated coldly like a subordinate while Artoria was not , she believed everything that belonged to her was stolen from her due to Artoria.
She hated Artoria and thought if she didn't exist then things wouldn't be like this , but on the outside she still maintained a kind older sister like image.
If it was before then she would have refused Uther without caring about any repercussions because there was little he could do against her who had become much stronger than before.
But thinking about finally taking something from Artoria and making her feel the way she felt made Morgan hesitate.
That was where the conflicting emotions arose.
On one side she hated the fact that Uther dared to use her as a pawn in his little game and he dared to dictate her life decisions once again.
She hates the very idea of this marriage but at the same time she felt excited when she thought of taking something that was dear to Artoria.
She could refuse this marriage but that would mean Artoria would get what she wants and Morgan didn't like that.
Morgan had thought of getting rid of Siegfried but she could feel that she won't be able to as he was too strong.
One look at him was enough to make her see what kind of a monster this man was...
