Chapter 18: 18. The Aria XV
' I need to go to Sieg! , I need to help him! ' Skadi roared inside her mind as she tried to channel her divine energy but was unable to due to being restricted by chains that were used to imprison her.
Skadi gritted her teeth as her ruby-red eyes were filled with hatred.
To think she would be attacked by Odin when he called her to discuss an important matter.
Even if she didn't wish to leave Sieg, she decided to answer Odin's summons, lest it brought unnecessary complications as she knew how prideful Odin was.
She didn't like interacting with Odin as he had been asking her to be his wife for a long time, she had refused every time but the old bastard didn't seem to take a hint as her answer seemed to have taken a hit at his pride.
So she would avoid him if possible, and most of the time she didn't need to cross paths with him since she stayed in her domain and the mortal realm.
But being specifically summoned, she couldn't reject it as with Odin's ego he might or might not hold a grudge.
She right now was very happy with her life and didn't want any mishaps to ruin it, so to be safe she decided to go to Asgard.
She always had this nagging feeling in the back of her mind that something was wrong but in her haste to get the matter over with and quickly go back to her lover she ignored it.
But it became apparent that she should have followed her instincts as Odin had summoned her to question her involvement with Siegfried and why she was interfering in the mortal realm.
She was commanded by him to not go to the mortal realm anymore but Skadi of course refused, if she didn't return to the mortal realm then how would she meet her Sieg.
What if he forgot about her or worse thought that she left him.
She couldn't let that happen so after finishing the matter for which Odin had summoned her she was planning to go back as quick as possible and never step foot here again if possible.
But she hadn't expected Odin to resort to force, he was stronger than her but not enough to kill her, if she wanted to escape she would be more than able to.
But it was a trap from the beginning, she was ambushed and Odin even went as far as using Magical chains that would restrict her divine energy.
She was currently no different from a mortal as no matter how hard she tried she couldn't do anything to the chains.
Before imprisoning her Odin told her he would be taking care of her lover next.
This caused her to be filled with both rage and fear, she didn't know why Odin was targeting a mortal.
Was he truly offended that she gave herself to a mortal than him a God-king or was there something else to it?
No matter what she only knew that her Sieg was in danger, he was strong but he was still a mortal.
There were many ways for a god to deal with a mortal and none would be the wiser.
Odin didn't even need to directly do something he could just lend a cursed artifact or something that could be useful against Siegfried.
The more she thought the more desperate she became, she pulled against the chains in hopes of breaking out of them.
Even if she knew it was futile she kept doing it as she didn't know what else to do. She could only hope that nothing would happen to her love...
....
Siegfried was on his way back from the empire to his wife. He had inquired about the current situation and understood that the neighbouring kingdoms were preparing for war.
Their movements cannot be hidden as the empire sensed large-scale movement of troops and tensions were rising.
This caused a pit to form in Siegfried's stomach as the goddess was right. A war was about to commence and a lot of death and destruction will occur and he couldn't stand back and watch it all happen without doing anything.
So he decided to spend as much time as he could with his wife before he set out for the battlefield....
...
Siegfried had a wry smile on his face as he awkwardly gazed at his wife who was upset with him.
Looking at her puffed-up cheeks and slightly tearful eyes he felt guilty, but even when throwing a tantrum she looked so adorable.
Siegfried hugged Brynhildr from behind and rested his head on her shoulder while she just snorted at him and ignored him.
After what he did he didn't mind her grumpy mood at all, he wanted her to become angry at him but seeing her act like this only made him feel even worse.
" Bryn ..... I know what I did must have hurt you, and no matter how much I apologise It wouldn't change anything. I am a greedy bastard, even though I have you I still can't give up on the goddess " Sieg said in a serious tone as he hugged Brynhildr tightly.
Brynhildr who heard his words was a bit sad but not that much, she just found it a bit hard to accept as she felt a sense of inferiority knowing that Goddess Skadi was also her husband's lover.
She wasn't the jealous or possessive type, to her, Siegfried was her world and she would do anything for him.....
