Chapter 100: Breaking Free from the Fortress

Seeing Liu Sisi in such a peculiar state, Ye Zian realized that there must be something very important hidden within the Liu family.

Meanwhile, Chen Ruoxue used her ice abilities to make the fortress walls exceptionally slick, causing many Hunters to slip and fall during their ascent.

Among the horde, dozens of A-class Giant Zombies appeared, each wielding heavy steel plates to shield the ordinary zombies from the incoming attacks.

"Damn it," Chen Ruoxue cursed, quickly channeling her abilities to coat the steel plates with frost, slowing the Giant Zombies' movements and making the plates brittle.

Bone Spike Zombies had regenerated their spikes and seized the opportunity while the shield was recovering, launching another attack.

Dozens of bone spikes shot toward Chen Ruoxue, but An Ziyu swiftly intervened, standing in front of her.

Thud, thud, thud—the armored suit absorbed the impact of the spikes, bolstered by her enhanced strength and abilities, allowing her to protect Chen Ruoxue from the lethal assault.

Thanks to Ye Zian's granting her the title of Vice Lord, she was able to accelerate the charging of the protective shield tower by expending points.

The shield, which had been down, lit up once again, intercepting a large number of zombies outside the barrier. Taking advantage of the renewed shield and the Bone Spike Zombies' attack, the soldiers on the walls swiftly cleared the zombies from the fortress.

He unleashed the same Soul-Eater Slash as before, gathering terrifying black energy once again in front of the Liu family.

At Liu Sisi's speed, she could certainly evade this strike, but Ye Zian aimed for the Liu family and the webs spun by the nearby Spider Zombies.

These Spider Zombies were the primary obstacles preventing the fortress from moving.

As he expended all his energy, the mutated zombies in front of Ye Zian were obliterated by the blade energy, devoured alongside the Spider Zombies.

However, what Ye Zian hadn't anticipated was that while Liu Sisi continued to control the mutated zombies, she made no effort to avoid the attack. Instead, she stood defiantly in front of the Liu family, taking the brunt of the now-diminished Soul-Eater Slash.

Her white dress turned to ash in the wake of the attack, and much of her bone armor shattered, revealing her exquisite figure beneath.

Yet, her body was riddled with tiny wounds, drenched in her own blood.

Injured but undeterred, Liu Sisi remained standing, her eyes blood-red as she glared at Ye Zian.

The Liu family behind her remained intact, protected by her fierce resolve.

Ye Zian froze momentarily, pondering what secret the Liu family held that compelled Liu Sisi to act so recklessly. With Liu Sisi severely wounded, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to strike, but he was drained of energy after the second Soul-Eater Slash, barely capable of moving, much like Liu Sisi herself.

As the zombie tide lost Liu Sisi's control, hundreds of Bone Spike Zombies were instantly re-controlled by Zhao Wanrong, redirecting their spikes toward the Giant Zombies that were grasping the webs.

Without Liu Sisi's influence, the Giant Zombies were caught off guard and lost dozens of their number in an instant.

However, this tactic took a toll on Zhao Wanrong, who fainted from exhaustion and was promptly supported by Ye Yu.

With the fortress free from the grip of the Giant Zombies, the power system rebooted, causing it to ascend once more.

But the remaining Spider Zombies regrouped, launching hundreds of webs at the fortress once again.

Anna slammed her fist against the battlement in frustration, shouting, "Damn it! Are these Spider Zombies never-ending?!"

Unfortunately, her complaints couldn't stop the webs from soaring toward the fortress.

Just when all hope seemed lost again, Ye Er's figure appeared above the battlefield, his bat wings flapping rapidly, creating a gust of wind that diverted the webs from their intended path.

Ye Er had come to Xiacheng Base at Ye Zian's behest, but upon nearing the area, his mind had been suppressed by Liu Sisi. He had been observing the situation from the outskirts until Liu Sisi was injured and her control weakened, allowing him to rush in to help.

Seeing the fortress ascend again, Ye Zian felt a weight lift from his chest.

Meanwhile, the mutated zombies surged toward Ye Zian, completely blocking his path back to the fortress.

"Damn it."

With no other options available, Ye Zian had to think of an alternative.

Through their psychic link, he instructed Anna, "You all go ahead. I'll find a way to escape the zombie encirclement."

Ye Zian gathered the nearby crystal cores into his space, replenishing a small amount of his powers, and prepared to pull Liu Sisi into the **Coliseum**.
