Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Seeing that the woman was no longer paying attention to him, Lei Qian frowned and bit her chin with his teeth.

"What are you doing?" Bai Meiyue frowned as she pulled away from the man. However, when Lei Qian saw that she was avoiding him, he frowned and hugged her even tighter. He said to her, "Why are you trying to get away from me?"

Bai Meiyue felt the grip of the man tighten on her waist; she couldn't help but scowl. She said to him, "Loosen your hold a little. Why are you holding me so tight?" She tried to protect her stomach as much as she could, but Bai Meiyue still felt a bit stifled.

"Why can't I touch you?" Lei Qian asked with an aggrieved look on his face. He felt upset and angry with the woman. The two of them had not met with one another for so long; even if Bai Meiyue's heart was filled with ice, she should have at least felt a bit excited after seeing him for such a long time.

But the way she was acting, it was as if she was not bothered by their distance for so many days.

Bai Meiyue was speechless when she saw the man acting like a child who had lost his favourite toy. She sighed and said to him, "Lei Qian, do you really not realise it, or are you pretending not to understand anything?"

"Understand what?" Lei Qian asked with a frown on his face.

When Bai Meiyue saw that the man was really not acting, she wished she could smack him upside down. This man, how could he be so stupid? Especially when it came to the matter between men and women? It seemed like he used all his IQ on expanding the business of his family instead of focusing on anything else.

She took a calming breath and then said to him, "Tell me this, Master Lei: did we use any kind of precaution when you and I slept together for the first time?"

"No?" Lei Qian was also drugged that night. Not as badly as Bai Meiyue, but he was, as his second aunt wanted to trip him by using that incident. But he was lucky enough to get someone like Bai Meiyue falling into his arms instead of the woman who was infected with venereal diseases.

If he were any more unfortunate, then he would have lost his life.

Thus, with the condition he was in at that moment, how could he even think of using something as a protection?

"Since that is the case… what do you think would happen if a healthy man and woman were to sleep together?" Bai Meiyue asked in a light tone.

Her question only made the man frown even harder as he said to her, "Are you worried about an unwanted pregnancy? But that's impossible. After all, we only slept together for one night."

Lei Qian didn't believe that it was possible for Bai Meiyue to get pregnant in just one night.

When Bai Meiyue heard his response, she was so angry that she wished she could smash the head of this man on the cabinet. How could it not be possible? With this man being so healthy, how could it not be possible?

"That's because I —"

Bai Meiyue was about to confess the truth to Lei Qian because inwardly she knew that there was no point in hiding the existence of her son from Lei Qian any longer. Her mother and brothers would not agree to it, and she, too, wanted to see if the promises that Lei Qian had made to her were true.

She was going to stay with Lei Qian and see what kind of decision he would make when he met with that woman. Anyway, Bai Meiyue was not the kind of woman who would rely on others. If this man dared to betray her, then she could always leave him and move to another safe place.

However, before she could confess, the sound of someone causing trouble echoed in the entire corridor as well as the penthouse where Bai Meiyue lived with her family.

Lei Qian and Bai Meiyue immediately separated and rushed out of the room without wasting another second.

Outside on the third floor, where the nurses and doctors have opened the hospital, there was a lot of noise. Lei Qian took his team down with him, while Bai Meiyue headed down with her brothers; she pulled her black jacket over her shoulders and rushed downstairs.

Just as Dacheng, who had come to see Xiang Mei, arrived on the third floor, he turned to look in the direction of the noisy section as well.

"Why don't you do anything? You are doctors! You can save the life of my son."

"Save my father! You have to. You cannot leave him alone."

"Why don't you save his life? I am telling you that you don't even think about kicking us out. When this hospital was being built, my brother also joined hands with Bai Meiyue and helped you guys in getting medical supplies. If you don't help this man today, then you better hand over the supplies. We will open a hospital on our own!"

Even though Bai Xue didn't have the resources to use the supplies, she still didn't want Bai Meiyue to take advantage of her. Not even the smallest bit.

When Bai Meiyue heard Bai Xue's voice, her eyes lit up. She had often told Bai Feng that unless Bai Xue came to trouble her, she would not cause any problems for her. Since the woman didn't want to remember the lessons that were taught to her the hard way, then she couldn't blame her for being hard on her.

After speaking, she turned on her feet and headed downstairs right where the woman was standing.

As soon as she came to a stop, she saw that the woman kneeling on the ground was protecting a man who was bitten by a zombie. One look at the man and Bai Meiyue knew that the man was about to turn into a monster himself. However, the old woman refused to accept that her son was about to turn into a zombie. She was firmly holding onto the belief that her son could still be saved.

Zhou Hongbei was trying to calm the survivors while telling them that there was nothing that they could do for a person who was bitten by a zombie. He tried to make the people understand that it was too late and they could only isolate the person who was bitten by the zombie and see how his body would react to the doomsday virus but no matter what he said, no one was willing to listen to a thing.

The rest of the nurses had blocked the entire entrance such that the man who was infected by the zombie wouldn't be able to rush inside the corridor and attack anyone else.

But the old woman who was the one who brought the zombie virus-infected man to the hospital was not willing to listen to a thing. What was more, she was backed by Bai Xue, who was Bai Feng's sister. Thus, she was even more emboldened.

She cried and made a loud fuss. It made Bai Meiyue's head buzz with anger and frustration. She raised her finger and rubbed her forehead before taking a whiff of the scent; unlike others, she could smell the scent of rotten blood and flesh. It seemed like the person whom the old woman brought along with her was about to turn into a zombie at any moment.

She turned to look at Shen Zhen and said to her, "End this matter quickly. This man is about to turn into a zombie at any moment. The process has already started; he can no longer be saved. If you continue to drag on the matter, then he will jump on someone and bite them. If that happens, then the loss will outweigh the gain."

Shen Zhen also felt a headache. It wasn't that she was not trying to push the woman away from the third floor but the old woman just didn't want to hear anything. She seemed inclined to save her son even if it meant harming others. What was more, Bai Xue was speaking up for the woman, which was only emboldening the old woman.

She turned to look at the old woman and said to her, "Your son was bitten by a zombie and he didn't receive a wound caused by a human. He needs to be observed rather than be kept and treated alongside others, where he would become a danger for everyone else. Keep him restrained and see how his body reacts to the doomsday virus. If he can pass twenty hours without changing into a zombie, then you can get your son back."

"What do you mean by that!?" the old woman simply refused to listen to sense as she raised her head and glared at the woman in front of her.
