An amazing hero from another world

Chapter 2: A village in despair

The sensation of falling was dizzying. I felt my body plummeting through an endless chasm, spinning in a vortex of light and shadow. The world twisted around me, unrecognizable fragments of my life flashing before my eyes. It was as if I were trapped between realities, with no control, no escape.

The fall seemed to last an eternity, and then, just as abruptly, the sensation stopped. I slammed into the ground with a force that knocked the wind out of me. My body ached, every bone feeling as though it had been rattled loose. Groaning, I pushed myself up, blinking as I tried to clear my head.

The air felt heavy, thick with an oppressive energy. My chest tightened as I glanced around, trying to make sense of my surroundings. I was no longer in my world, that much was certain. The landscape stretched out before me, a vast wasteland of desolate earth. The sky above was a sickly shade of crimson, heavy clouds swirling like a storm waiting to break.

The ground was cracked and barren, littered with the ruins of what looked like long-abandoned buildings. My breath quickened as I stood up shakily, my knees unsteady. Where was I? What had happened? My mind raced, trying to make sense of the situation.

I heard a rustling sound to my left, and before I could react, a massive figure emerged from the smoke and haze—something monstrous. It was like a nightmare come to life.

The creature was humanoid, but its body was twisted, distorted. Its skin was gray and mottled, covered in jagged spikes and dark veins that pulsed with dark energy. Red eyes glowed menacingly as it lumbered toward me, its arms too long for its body, each ending in claws that could tear through stone. Its monstrous form towered over me, and a deep growl rumbled from its throat.

I didn't feel fear. No, this was incredible. For the first time in my life, I was face-to-face with something straight out of a fantasy. My heart raced—not from fear, but from excitement. This was what I had always dreamed of. This was my chance to fight, to be a hero.

Just as the creature lunged toward me, something unexpected happened.

A voice—cold and commanding—echoed inside my mind.

Mission: Protect the Village.

Objective: Defeat the Demon Monsters and save the humans. The village is in danger.

Skill Unlocked: Kirito - Dual Blades.

I froze, my eyes wide with disbelief. My mind struggled to grasp what was happening. A mission? A skill unlocked? I didn't even know how to fight, let alone what these demons were.

But before I could process it, my body moved on its own. Two swords materialized in my hands, their hilts sleek and black, the blades shimmering with a faint blue light. The weight of them was unexpected, but there was something about them that felt right. I instinctively gripped them, my fingers tightening around the hilts.

The demon let out a deafening roar and swiped at me with its claws. I reacted on pure instinct, raising both swords to block the attack. The impact sent a shockwave through my arms, but the swords held firm. I didn't understand how, but the blades had stopped the monster's strike.

A strange sense of clarity washed over me as I assessed the situation. My mind raced, trying to remember anything from the countless action scenes I'd watched in anime. I had the swords, and now I needed to fight.

[Skill Activated: Kirito - Dual Blades]

Skill Level: Basic. Mastery: 0%.

The moment the skill activated, I felt a surge of energy flow through me. My body grew lighter, faster. My focus sharpened. I wasn't just some kid standing in front of a monster anymore. I was Kirito, the swordsman from Sword Art Online, and I was ready to fight.

The demon lunged at me again, its claws aimed straight for my chest. With a burst of speed, I darted to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack. I swung both swords in a wide arc, slicing through the air. The demon barely managed to raise its arms to block, but my swords were too fast. They cut through the creature's defenses with ease, leaving deep gashes in its arms.

The demon howled in pain, but I didn't stop. I pressed the attack, my blades moving with a fluidity I hadn't expected. I moved like I had always known how to fight, my body responding to the movements as if they were second nature.

With a powerful slash, I cleaved through the demon's leg, causing it to stumble. I didn't hesitate. I pressed forward, my swords aiming for the weak spots I had learned from years of watching combat scenes. The demon roared in fury, its monstrous form twisting and writhing as it tried to strike again, but I was faster. I ducked under its massive claws, spinning around to deliver a decisive slash to the demon's side.

The blow hit with such force that the demon staggered backward, its movements slow and clumsy.

I knew I had to end this quickly. I took a deep breath, focusing all my energy into one final attack.

[Skill Activated: Kirito - Dual Blades: Infinite Sword Skills]

A surge of power coursed through my body, and my swords became a blur of motion. Each strike was faster, sharper, cutting through the demon's thick hide as if it were paper. The demon howled in agony as my blades found their mark again and again, until finally, with a final, decisive slash, the demon collapsed to the ground, lifeless.

I stood over the fallen creature, my chest heaving with exhaustion. I had done it. The village was safe—at least for now.

But before I could let myself feel relief, the voice echoed again in my mind.

Mission Complete.

Objective: Defeat the Demon Monsters. Village Protected.

Reward: 1000XP, achievementunlocked: Hero's Will.

I barely had time to process the information before another window appeared before me. It was a map of the area, showing a nearby village with a flashing red dot. The map looked strangely familiar—it was the same village I had landed in.

[Mission: Defend the Village.]

Objective: Demons are still attacking the village. You must defend it before they destroy everything.

I glanced at the map again, my heart sinking. The village was under attack by more demons, and I was the only one capable of stopping them. I couldn't let them destroy this place. I had to fight.

The path to the village was only a short distance away, but the thought of more monsters lurking in the shadows made me tense. My muscles tightened, the weight of my new responsibility pressing down on me.

The village came into view, and my heart dropped. It was in chaos. Villagers were fleeing, running for their lives as demons ravaged everything in their path. The buildings were burning, and the screams of the terrified people echoed through the air.

But what caught my attention was the sight of the demons. These creatures were larger, more terrifying than the first one I'd encountered. There were multiple hulking forms—some with grotesque, armored bodies and others that seemed to be made of shadow and smoke.

I didn't have time to think. My instincts kicked in, and my swords appeared in my hands once more. The mission was clear. I had to protect these people.

I charged forward, heading straight into the fray. The demons spotted me immediately and snarled, their eyes glowing red with malice.

[Acivement unlocked: Hero's Charge]

[Reward 500 XP]

The moment the skill activated, I felt a surge of power flooding through me. My speed increased, and I rushed into battle without hesitation. One of the demons lunged at me, its massive claws slashing toward my chest. I ducked under the strike, moving faster than I thought possible. I retaliated with a flurry of sword strikes, each one landing with precision. The demon howled in pain, its thick skin splitting under the force of my blades.

I moved on, my swords flashing in the sunlight as I carved through the demon ranks. The monsters were strong, but they were slow. With every swing, I grew more confident, my attacks flowing seamlessly from one to the next. I fought like a warrior, each strike purposeful, each dodge calculated.

The battle raged on, and my energy began to wane. My breath came in sharp gasps, but I couldn't stop. I couldn't let these demons win.

As I cut down the last of the demons in my path, a massive roar echoed from behind me. A demon general emerged from the smoke, its eyes burning with fury. This one was bigger than the rest, its body armored with dark, jagged plates. Its massive sword gleamed with dark energy as it raised it to strike.

I didn't hesitate. I gripped my swords tightly, channeling all the power I could muster.

With a burst of energy, I dashed forward, my swords raised high. The demon general swung its massive blade, but I was already there, my swords cutting through the air with blinding speed. My attacks were faster, sharper, more powerful than ever before. With a final, thunderous strike, I cleaved through the demon's armor and sent it crashing to the ground.

The battlefield fell silent. I stood, panting heavily, my swords dripping with demon blood. The village was saved—for now.

A new message appeared before me.

Mission Complete.

Objective: Protect the Village from the Demons.

Reward: 1000 XP, Achievement Unlock: Hero's Endurance.

I sank to my knees, feeling the adrenaline ebbing from my body. Every muscle ached, but I had never felt more alive. The villagers gathered around, awe in their eyes, gratitude in their hearts.

And I realized something. This was just the beginning.

I wasn't afraid. I was ready for whatever came next.
