Countless arcs of deep blue lightning erupted from the small metal button in Nathan's hand. They twisted and coiled like a living web of serpents, each spark a crackling strand of power. In an instant, it looked like chains of lightning were blooming like deadly flowers, spreading rapidly through the air.

Before anyone could react, the electric surge enveloped the massive figure of the Rhino Man. The wave of power surged into his body with a sizzling force, bypassing his enhanced muscles and armored skin like it was nothing.

"Raaagghhh—!"

The Rhino Man convulsed violently. His bulging muscles stiffened, and his eyes rolled back until only the whites were visible. A guttural scream tore from his throat as his body was wracked by the full force of Nathan's invention.

Then—silence.

The current vanished as quickly as it had appeared, leaving behind a massive, smoking figure.

BOOM!

The Rhino Man collapsed with a seismic thud that shook the pavement. The ground trembled under his weight, and tiny arcs of electricity still danced across his body, occasionally leaping into the air with a snap. Wisps of blue smoke rose from his back like incense, a sign of the battle's brutal conclusion.

Nathan stood still, watching the results of his invention. This was his latest project: the electric shock button—a compact, inconspicuous weapon, now proven to be extraordinarily effective. A quiet smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. He was satisfied.

Nearby, Ghost Spider—clad in her white and black suit—stood tensely, still in a defensive posture. She had been bracing herself, expecting to have to intercept the Rhino Man's next charge.

But then came the explosion of blue light.

She blinked, stunned, her mouth slightly agape as she watched the now-unmoving villain.

"…What kind of button was that?"

She swallowed hard. "That power… it's insane."

Her gaze turned to Nathan, now holding the small, used button in his hand. Something about his presence triggered a distant memory. Her eyes narrowed as her mind tried to place him. He looked… familiar.

Suddenly, it clicked.

She remembered the boy—unmasked back then—who had been cornered by some thugs in an alley not long ago. She had swooped in to save him without thinking much of it. But now...

He didn't need saving. Not at all.

Her jaw slackened a bit. The guy she thought she was protecting had easily handled a full-powered Rhino Man, a villain who usually took multiple Avengers to take down.

"Wow," she murmured, scratching the back of her head. "Guess I didn't need to jump in that day, huh?"

She glanced down at the smoking villain. "Well, that's one problem solved."

With a confident grin, she dusted off her gloves and stepped closer to Nathan.

"I'll take care of this guy," she said cheerfully, placing one small foot atop Rhino Man's back like a conquering hero. "He's heading straight to jail."

Nathan gave a polite nod. "Thanks."

Truthfully, he didn't care much about Rhino Man. That brute's so-called strength came from a crude layer of artificially bonded polymer armor, fused to his skin using radiation and unstable gene-altering chemicals.

Primitive tech. Brutish methods. Uninspiring.

Nathan had bigger fish to fry.

He already had two powerful projects on his plate—Wolverine's healing factor and the soon-to-be-acquired Spider DNA. Both of these were genetic marvels. In terms of versatility, combat applications, and upper potential, they were light-years beyond what Rhino Man offered.

Ghost Spider offered her hand with a bright smile. "Nice to meet you, by the way. I'm Ghost Spider."

Nathan shook it with a gentle nod. "Nathan. Nice to meet you too."

She let go and scratched her head sheepishly. "I'm gonna get this guy off the streets before he wakes up again. No need for another tantrum."

With that, she heaved Rhino Man up in one impressive motion, slinging his unconscious form over her shoulder.

Grinning one last time, she waved. "I'll be off now!"

And just like that, she leapt away, carrying the large man as if he weighed nothing. Within seconds, she had vanished into the urban skyline, leaving behind only the scent of ozone and scorched earth.

Nathan stood silently and surveyed the area. His fence—thankfully—was mostly intact. He walked over to the discarded electric button lying nearby and picked it up, fingers brushing across the warm metal.

He sighed. "Marvel… danger really is everywhere. You could be minding your own business, sitting at home, and bam—some maniac charges through your fence."

Shaking his head, he turned his attention to another item—the damaged neurotoxin button that had failed earlier.

He muttered to himself, "Didn't account for thick-skinned enemies… That steel needle couldn't penetrate. If I'm going to make this effective against armored enemies like Rhino, I need to enhance the delivery system."

His mind spun into invention mode. He needed something stronger, sharper, with enough kinetic force to punch through skin, armor, or exoskeleton.

"Maybe a high-velocity microdrill? Or a compressed gas burst injector…"

He descended once more into his basement laboratory, lost in thought, already sketching blueprints in his mind.

Meanwhile…

Far away, on the silent border between Canada and the United States, the vast wilderness stretched beneath a black sky. Winds whispered across lonely plains, interrupted only by the buzz of drones and searchlights scanning for movement.

Suddenly, beneath one of those sweeping lights, two figures darted from the tall grass and slipped under a weak section of the iron border fence.

One tall. One small.

Wolverine and his daughter had returned.

Taking advantage of the darkness, they moved quickly, crouched low as they sprinted toward the safety of the tree line.

"Where are we going now?" the little girl asked, her face serious as always, her tone steady even under stress.

"We start by finding an old friend," Wolverine replied, his voice gravelly. "We need to know what happened after we left the farm."

She nodded. "Okay."

But behind her composed expression, her thoughts churned. They had left so much behind. Friends. Allies. The dream Charles once carried.

Wolverine's mind wasn't at peace either. Charles Xavier's final words haunted him. The image of the old professor on his deathbed, speaking about a future still worth fighting for, replayed endlessly in his mind.

And through all of that—one name kept coming back.

Nathan.

The boy Charles mentioned with conviction. A boy with potential. With genius. With the power to change things.

And in Wolverine's gut, he knew. He had to find this Nathan.

"We'll find him," he said aloud, mostly to himself, but loud enough for the girl to hear. "Even if we have to turn the world upside down."

The little girl narrowed her eyes. "Do you really think he can help mutants?"

"I do," he replied firmly. "Because he's not just smart. He's… different. And different is exactly what we need."

The two of them walked deeper into the United States, cloaked in the night.

Determined to find the one who could change everything.
