Chapter 816: Never Allow Social Regression
Brooklyn, Hilton Hotel.
Martin opened a bottle of wine and deliberately poured it into three glasses, the golden liquid mirroring Leonardo's pacing figure. The round glasses made the shadow look like a donkey walking in circles, endlessly turning on the spot.
Nicholson picked up a glass and before drinking, looked at the shadow twirling around on it and said, "Leo, can you stop pacing? You're making me dizzy."
Leonardo looked at Bruce, who was sitting in front of a laptop, and asked, "Old Cloth, is there no news yet?"
Bruce refreshed the TMZ page again and shook his head, "No news yet."
Martin handed Leonardo a glass of wine, "Jack and Jody have sent feedback. The plan is going very smoothly. Be patient."
"I know I need to be patient," Leonardo gulped down the wine in his glass and coughed twice, his voice tinged with sadness as he said, "But every time I think of Gisele... Not only did he do it, but he even came up to brag about it to my face. How am I supposed to endure that?"
Martin revisited an old remark, "It's Tom Brady who was cuckolded!"
Nicholson nodded, "Martin is right."
Leonardo muttered to himself, "My Gisele."
Martin said, "You're done for, Leo. You used to mutter that phrase only when you were drunk, but now you start without even being drunk. You should see a psychologist."
Nicholson followed up, "New York Presbytery Mental Treatment Center—you've experienced it before, right? I can help you get in touch for a room."
"Enough from you two jerks!" Leonardo pointed at Martin and Nicholson, "I was fine before, but hanging out with you jerks will make me catch your issues."
At this moment, Bruce coughed lightly and said, "Gentlemen, the news about Justin Bieber has come out!"
Leonardo was the first to rush behind Bruce.
Martin and Nicholson also walked over.
Bruce dragged the mouse and clicked on the video at the top of the TMZ homepage.
The video wasn't long and soon played the part where Lana tied Justin's eyes with a tie.
Seeing Lana push a gun into Justin's mouth, a smile finally appeared on Leonardo's anxious face, a strangely satisfying smile.
Nicholson shook his head as if he had seen the finest Sacred Valley blockbuster, "Interesting, damn interesting. This trip to New York wasn't wasted; this drama alone is worth the ticket price!"
"These aren't the main point," Martin said softly. "As long as he keeps quiet, it's just a few days of disgust."
Leonardo thought of the news headline, "The best part is yet to come."
As soon as the words left his mouth, the argument between Lana and Justin erupted.
In it, Justin spewed various discriminatory remarks.
About Black people, homosexuals, transsexuals—direct and brutal insults.
Maybe in casual conversation these wouldn't matter much.
But for a celebrity in the entertainment industry to say such things and be exposed by the media, it was bound to cause an uproar.
After listening to Justin's words, Nicholson commented, "Actually, I think the jerk makes some sense."
Martin nodded slightly in agreement.
Leonardo reminded, "Hey, guys, mind your stance."
Martin said with a smile, "We always stand with you, but that doesn't hinder the rest."
Nicholson specifically said, "We can say these things privately, but don't recklessly speak them out loud."
He shook his head and sighed, "Some things are changing so weirdly, I can't understand Hollywood anymore."
Martin explained, "It's all for commercial gains and political needs. A lot of major forces behind the scenes are tacitly pushing these, pleasing certain groups, increasing commercial income, and diverting conflicts."
"Let's not think about those for now," Leonardo was in high spirits, "As long as it benefits us."
Nicholson added, "This will put him in big trouble for a long time to come."
Martin pointed to Justin on the video, "I still like his defiant demeanor."
Leonardo laughed, "Hope he can keep it up."
Martin concluded, "New York and Los Angeles are the front runners of these movements, with the biggest and most powerful organizations in America. It's your turn now, Leo."
"My long knife is already eager," Leonardo responded.
Martin and Nicholson both laughed heartily.
Leonardo took out his phone and made several calls.
As a celebrity worth several billion US dollars, owning an independent production company, and a top superstar of Hollywood, Leonardo's influence and power were not to be underestimated.
Many media outlets and special organizations quickly received related news.
...
Manhattan, an unassuming bar.
Men and women came and went, but few ever crossed the threshold. Those unfamiliar with the place were stopped at the door. The business owners would rather turn away business than let them in.
Occasionally, those who entered were all strange people.
For example, women with masculine features or simply drag queens.
Inside the bar, a group of apparent drag queens were having a gathering.
Since it was the base of New York's largest transgender group, "Drag Queen," the scene was not unbearable.
A few drag queens were gathered at the bar counter discussing matters.
Wearing an explosive hairstyle, blue eyeshadow, and fake breasts, Blaire said, "Through our charity organization 'Tora,' I contacted New York City Hall, expressing our willingness to perform for elementary and middle schools in New York."
Beside her, Ellen, who was wearing a purple wig, asked, "Did they agree?"
Blaire responded, "New York City Hall indicated that they would consider inviting some public schools to have us perform."
Susan, who truly had long hair, said, "If we can achieve this, it will be a significant victory. Merely having media support is not enough, we must expand our influence to all aspects of society, making everyone who sees us think of respecting us first!"
She raised her voice, "Now that we have stood up and become an important part of society, even public figures who mention us should express their respect for us..."
Her speech was suddenly interrupted by the ringing of a cellphone.
Blaire, somewhat embarrassed, smiled apologetically and stood to take the call on the side. Because she had been sitting for too long, her fake breasts had sagged severely, almost reaching her stomach, as if she had two basketballs attached to her belly as she walked.
"What?" After hearing just a few words, Blaire widened her eyes, "A celebrity is discriminating against us? And it's the top headline on TMZ? This is a serious matter, I'll report it to Susan immediately."
After hanging up, she turned and walked back, adjusting her attire along the way, pulling the fake breasts back to where they belonged.
Sitting down at the bar counter, Blaire said, "Susan, I interrupt for a moment. There's been a serious incident; I suggest we check the news on the TMZ website first."
Susan tilted her head, and a drag bartender with not so cleanly shaved stubble on her chin and lips turned on the computer at one side of the bar.
The bartender then connected to the projector and displayed it on the large screen in the bar.
The top headline on the TMZ website instantly caught the attention of the drag queens.
"Play the video," Susan commanded.
The bartender clicked on the video, and it started playing.
Halfway through, the bar erupted in curses, the queens furiously angry.
"Justin Bieber is discriminating against us!"
"F*ck, turns out it's a hidden transphobe!"
"He's using the most offensive language to insult our community!"
One of the queens, topped with golden hair, was so infuriated that she jumped onto the table, shouting, "Justin Bieber not only discriminates against my gender, discriminates against me as a homosexual but also discriminates against me as a Black man! This is criminal!"
Many others echoed, "Yes, this is criminal!"
The bar was a hive of furious agitation.
"Quiet! Quiet!" Susan shouted, "Drag Queen will definitely not remain silent, we will fight against any discriminator to the end!"
Immediately, someone yelled, "For Drag Queen!"
Others joined in, shouting in unison, "For Drag Queen!"
Susan made a calming gesture with her hand, "Give us some time to discuss an effective countermeasure."
The bar quieted down.
The news video had already ended, and Ellen said, "We must make our voices heard!"
Blaire looked at Susan, "Every person who discriminates against us should be properly punished!"
Susan considered for a while before speaking, "Put everything else aside for now, prioritizing this emergency situation starting immediately."
Being the leaders of New York's largest transgender group, Drag Queen had capable administration and overall solidarity. Everyone was waiting for Susan's instructions.
"Susan, you contact our supportive media and arrange an interview as soon as possible. We must speak publicly in the media to let Justin Bieber, or anyone similar, understand that this is a very serious anti-social incident!"
She waved to the buffed Black queen, Michel, and when he came over, she said, "Find out Justin Bieber's whereabouts as soon as possible. Gather people tomorrow morning to protest in front of his house, using some means if necessary."
The Black queen assured, "I won't let this bastard get away with it!"
Susan then looked at Blaire, "Justin Bieber's remarks not only discriminate against us but are also directed at other groups. You take charge of contacting those well-known organizations, ideally starting a massive protest together tomorrow."
Blaire nodded and took out her cellphone to make calls.
The Drag Queen group quickly became busy.
Before long, more drag queens entered the bar; some opened the storage room in the bar, fetching various materials, preparing for tomorrow's protest.
After contacting several special groups, Blaire returned and said to Susan, "They've all received the news and will take actions similar to ours; I also found out Justin Bieber's current residence."
Susan said righteously, "We will never allow society to regress!"
"Right, never allow it!"
Meanwhile, a few gay bars on the same street and the Black community in Manhattan were also making similar preparations.
