Allen the Reincarnated Merchant: A Plan to Get Rich in Another World

Chapter 83

“There was a reaction, huh… I didn’t notice anything, but Aria, did you sense something?” I asked.

“I don’t think it was my imagination. There was definitely a faint reaction,” Aria replied, sounding uncertain.

Apparently, the elves, especially the High Elves like Aria, have a heightened ability to sense magic compared to humans. In fact, Aria can visually perceive magic clearly, and her senses are even more refined than the magic detectors used by humans and beastkin.

“Sorry, could I take a closer look at your face?” Aria asked.

“Uh, sure… I don’t mind,” I answered.

After tilting her head in thought a few times, Aria leaned over the table and stared directly at me. Normally, her eyes were a beautiful shade of gold, the same color as her hair. But the moment she gazed at me, those golden eyes transformed into a mesmerizing, rainbow-like glow.

“Lady Aria possesses a special ability called ‘Heavenly Eyes.’ She normally keeps them closed because they reveal too much, but she uses them when examining magic,” Eurua explained from the side, filling me in as Aria focused.

According to Eurua, Aria’s rainbow-colored eyes were the secondary effect of her “Heavenly Eyes,” which were akin to something mythical, like the petrifying gaze of Medusa from Greek mythology. However, Aria’s Heavenly Eyes weren’t aggressive in nature. Instead, they allowed her to perceive the true nature of magic on a higher level.

“It’s like the otherworldly version of the Sharing◯n,” I murmured to myself.

“Otherworldly Sharing◯n?” Eurua asked, clearly confused.

Of course, Eurua, being from another world, had no idea what I was talking about, so I waved it off as nothing and waited for Aria’s observation results.

“It’s still hard to say… There’s definitely some strange magic layered over your normal magic, but even with these eyes, I can’t make it out clearly,” Aria finally said.

“Is that even possible?” I asked in surprise.

Aria, who could probably outmatch both me and Saiouji with her cheat-like abilities, admitted that even with her special eyes, she couldn’t clearly see the strange magic residing within me.

If even Aria couldn’t figure it out, then it seemed hopeless… I couldn’t help but feel that way. Still, Aria confirmed that I possessed some magic similar to elven healing magic, though she couldn’t explain why it reacted to the words of Romelza, the spirit that governs elven healing magic. However, she assured me it wasn’t a bad thing.

“Could it be that you barely have the affinity needed to activate the magic?” I asked.

“No, that’s not the case. The amount of magic power consumed depends on how strong your affinity is, but even with a low affinity, the magic would still activate as long as you have enough magic power,” Aria explained, dismissing my theory.

According to Aria, the affinity for special magic was linked to how much magic power was consumed when casting the spell. Even if your affinity was low, the spell would still work as long as you had the necessary magic power.

In the end, I didn’t have any affinity for the major types of special magic, but I seemed to have some vague affinity for something similar to elven healing magic. The subtle reactions I experienced were something even Aria and Eurua, with all their elven knowledge, had never seen before. Eurua, who had a natural curiosity, was visibly excited by the prospect of researching this phenomenon.

Aria continued to observe me with her Heavenly Eyes and tried casting other simple healing spells, but none of them activated either.

Despite this, Aria could still see clear changes, even if she couldn’t fully understand them. However, both she and Eurua admitted that studying higher special magic often required a lot of trial and error, and the lack of clear methods made the process tedious.

That’s the nature of higher special magic, they said.
