Chapter 61
Currently, I have three main jobs.
The first is managing supplies and accounting for the Akatsuki Brigade. This involves everything from daily necessities consumed at the team house to preparing food and potions for parties going on expeditions. I also listen to the members’ requests and try to find specific items through merchants.
However, this work is primarily led by Aina, the head of supply management, and for larger tasks, Saioji steps in directly, so my involvement with brigade work isn’t too heavy.
The second job is my role as a merchant for the Akatsuki Brigade. While I carry the title of the brigade’s merchant, in reality, I operate almost independently. My business, the Allen Trading Company, bears my name, which is quite common in this world. If no specific name is requested, the guild usually registers it as such.
Here, I plan to primarily deal in imported goods from Earth. The main sellers are likely to be sweets and books.
The third and final job is my work as a newly recognized Kremus-class merchant, under the alias of Hakuba Issei. In this role, I deal in high-end goods in the royal capital.
As a fledgling merchant named Allen, I have clients like Rey and Sakakibara, who are significant patrons, but I’m still just an Iron-class merchant with little track record.
On the other end of the spectrum, Kremus-class merchants are the highest-ranking traders, with fewer than ten in the entire kingdom. All of them run large trading companies that either support the kingdom or wield similar influence.
This rank carries immense power, and it’s overwhelming to manage. Rumors spread rapidly when I purchased Eurua, and now people in the capital are saying that a newly recognized Kremus-class merchant bought an elf. Additionally, since the purchase of the elf required red potions, the assumption is that I, as this new Kremus-class merchant, possess them.
As a result, the name Hakuba Issei is being overestimated by merchants and adventurers in the capital more than I anticipated.
I plan to mainly sell high-grade potions made from the magic rose, Magic Rose. While I don’t intend to sell red potions, I do aim to focus on rare purple potions. Recently, I met an adventurer named Maxwell in the black market, and I’m planning to market these potions to those awaiting regenerative treatments, like him.
However, since the Magic Rose is still being cultivated, I’ll have to wait about half a month before I can start full-scale operations.
For now, I’m here in the northern district of the royal capital as the novice Iron-class merchant Allen, visiting the Enfibe Magic Academy.
“It’s been a while.”
“Good to see you again, Lord Rey.”
Just like my previous visit, I was shown to the reception room of the Great Eagle Dormitory, where I met Rey Castiano, a client and sponsor of the brigade.
Rey, unlike Sakakibara, who is also a former Japanese, is a legitimate nobleman, and his demeanor and speech reflect that he comes from a world quite different from mine. Though he’s only a boy around middle school age, I treat him as an adult.
Saioji has a similar aura, but her values remain those of a Japanese person, despite her parents being CEOs of a multinational corporation. Her perspective is still closer to that of a commoner.
…In contrast, the boy in front of me is someone who was born and raised as part of the upper class in this world. A single misstep could result in a crime, so I quickly learned noble etiquette from Sakakibara, mastering at least the basics.
…Though in exchange, I had to dress up in a cosplay costume from *One Step*.
“A shop in the Great Eagle Dormitory?”
“Yes, the merchant who used to supply the dormitory shop had to quit for personal reasons, and I’d like to recommend you as their replacement.”
There’s a shop near the entrance hall of the dormitory where academy staff serve as shopkeepers. Enfibe Magic Academy, where Rey and Sakakibara study, is a prestigious school for the heirs of the kingdom’s nobility. Many students come from far-off regions, unlike Rey and Sakakibara, who were raised in the capital.
While powerful families like the margraves might have no trouble, many students from lesser noble houses rely on the dormitory shop since they lack the connections to capital merchants.
“I’m honored by the offer, but supplying everyday goods might be a bit challenging. I’ll certainly do my best, though…”
Enfibe Magic Academy is a huge institution with over a thousand students. Each student also has several servants, so the academy is practically a small town. Although other merchants supply the academy, my trading company is still small, with few connections, and Eurua, who is supposed to join as staff, hasn’t even started her training yet.
Handling such a large volume of supplies would be impossible for me… Though I don’t say this outright since Rey is a noble.
“No, no. I’m not expecting an Iron-class merchant to handle everyday goods in such large quantities. What I’m asking for are luxuries and entertainment items.”
“Luxuries and entertainment items?”
“Yes. Do you remember the *Tore ka* I bought at the royal capital’s street festival? I didn’t get too into it myself, but my younger brother and some of my subordinates loved it. I’d like you to supply similar entertainment goods to the academy.”
“In that case, I should be able to manage.”
The item Rey referred to is a type of trading card game from Earth, known as M◯G. While it didn’t resonate with Rey himself, it seems the game has become a craze at the Castiano estate.
“My brother, Roan, has become obsessed with that *Tore ka* game and keeps pestering me for new packs.”
Rey chuckled softly as he shared this.
“There are several other similar entertainment products. I can bring them next time if you’d like.”
“Really? That’d be great. Who knows, I might even find one I enjoy.”
If it’s luxury or entertainment goods, I wouldn’t need to provide a massive amount, so I should be able to handle the request.
With that, I accepted the job and shook hands firmly with Rey.
…Little did I know at the time that the entertainment products, centered around the trading cards I supplied, would lead to a huge commotion throughout the academy.
