Alchemist Wizard

Chapter 155: Chapter 155: The Demon Trap

"So, you're the new Wizard?"

Bessan and Dony scrutinized Roy with mixed expressions, their attitudes far less friendly and amiable compared to Tinas.

"Why are the subordinates you brought so shabby?"

"I really can't understand why Lord Flosf assigned this task to you."

Tinas privately transmitted a message to Roy: "Don't mind them. You've essentially taken the opportunity that was meant for one of their friends. The base rewards and the spoils from the mission combined could easily amount to a few hundred thousand. It's natural for them to feel a bit resentful…

More importantly, they might not trust your capabilities. If you, as a newly promoted Wizard, end up holding them back, it'll just create unnecessary trouble!"

Roy nodded.

He was well aware that veterans often disliked teaming up with newcomers.

Newcomers were prone to dragging the team down and causing trouble.

In more serious cases, they could even diminish the team's overall gains.

These individuals had been official Wizards for a long time, having studied under their respective mentors for over 60 years before graduating and seeking further opportunities elsewhere.

However, this mission had been arranged by his mentor, and no one could refuse it.

Thus, they could only vent their frustrations on him.

"Alright, let's just focus on executing the mission."

After a while, Bessan and Dony were eager to get started.

Roy asked, "How should we carry out this plan?"

Bessan glanced at him dismissively. "Dealing with these primitive barbarians doesn't require much effort. We just need to locate Kairon and kill him.

The Bloodhoof Tribe was united under his efforts. Without him as their core, it'll quickly fall apart."

Dony, however, interjected, "I think we should start by eliminating the ordinary tribe members, wiping out as much of their living force as possible.

Ordinary centaurs are quite fragile. Using poison or cunning tactics, we can easily eliminate thousands of them."

Tinas chimed in, "These approaches aren't mutually exclusive. We can do both."

In the end, it was decided that the Wizards would head to the Royal Tent of the Bloodhoof Tribe.

The tasks of pursuit, interception, and mopping up would be left to their respective followers and otherworldly slaves.

Even without counting Roy's forces, the nearly hundred-strong army of blade mantises and orcs they brought would be more than enough to handle thousands of enemies.

Roy followed the group discreetly to the location of the Bloodhoof Tribe's Royal Tent.

At this point, the reasons why the two senior Wizards looked down on him became glaringly obvious.

Even the way they traveled highlighted the gap and tension between them.

Senior Tinas continued to ride her Strange Bird in the sky, while Bessan and Dony each had their own Synthetic Beasts and Construct vehicles, also capable of flight.

This allowed them to easily traverse the terrain, moving directly to their destination.

Meanwhile, Roy had to ride Atedia, chasing after them on the ground.

Although the captain of the guard was doing her best, their speed still couldn't match that of the Wizards in the sky.

Tinas and the other two had to hold back, conserving some energy to wait for them.

Atedia, too, deeply felt this immense disparity. As she ran, she hung her head in frustration. "Lord Roy, I'm really useless…"

Roy patted her shoulder reassuringly. "It's alright. I'll find a way to help you improve."

He wasn't unfamiliar with such awkwardness. Before entering Chalkland, he had also been the weakest among the Elite Apprentices.

But times have changed, and things are no longer the same as they once were.

Thus, he had enough confidence to view such matters with composure.

...

After a period of travel, the group was finally discovered, drawing attention and raising alarms.

The centaurs sounded their horns and beat their war drums, standing ready for battle.

"Overestimating themselves!"

The Wizards sneered at this.

They each wielded their Wizardry or summoned their combat weapons, showcasing their proud capabilities.

Roy was in no hurry to act, instead observing the performance of the Vizel Wizards.

His senior fellow student, for the moment, was merely tossing Alchemy Bombs from the back of the Strange Bird, not yet displaying any significant Wizardry skills.

However, Bessan suddenly expanded in size, as if transforming, growing enormous eagle-like wings.

His limbs turned into sharp claws, as if forged from steel.

This was the Bloodline of an otherworldly creature, the Harpy.

The ability to manifest such changes after activating the Bloodline's power through Wizardry is called "Bloodline Transformation."

It shares similarities with the Arcane Empire's "Transformation Spell," but unlike the "Transformation Spell," which focuses on altering appearances, this "Bloodline Transformation" possesses formidable physical combat capabilities.

It thoroughly activates the corresponding Bloodline power from within, naturally mastering many innate combat abilities.

"It feels much stronger than the Neanderthal Bloodline Potion I took before!

This already falls into the category of magical creatures!"

Roy silently assessed in his heart.

As for Dony, what he displayed was the power of a Mechanical Wizard.

The Construct he rode, originally resembling a surfboard-like vehicle, suddenly revealed its wings, launching barrel-shaped missiles.

These missiles, no larger than radishes, were loaded with terrifying high-energy explosives and toxic powders.

Amidst the deafening explosions, poisonous smoke spread.

Just a few breaths of it caused a large number of centaurs below to collapse.

This terrifying combination of spells and high-energy materials was unbearable for ordinary creatures, resulting in exceptionally high lethality.

Instantly, the crowd grew restless, and morale plummeted.

"The Wizards have too great an advantage over ordinary creatures.

Just the ability to fly and attack from a distance is an insurmountable chasm.

I really should get a flying mount or find a way to make Atedia fly."

Roy was in awe of this.

There were indeed ways; one could easily think of using special Magic Metals like Magnetic Lead to create various flying devices.

But those things, when crafted on a small scale for use in Levitating Magic Orbs, were simple.

Creating a full-body outfit was far more complex.

It involved buoyancy adjustment, posture control, and a lot of mechanical knowledge.

Moreover, having only the ability to float without maneuverability would make one a target in the sky.

This would require a series of power systems.

As the saying goes, "Different professions are like different mountains," and Wizards across various fields gradually specialized.

This is what is known as the "barrier!"

As Roy pondered, he suddenly heard the sound of a horn.

A massive black magic circle appeared, with surging magical power spreading like black smoke.

Some otherworldly creatures with the ability to fly emerged from the void.

"Quasits!"

The demon with black horns like those of cattle and sheep, enormous bat wings, and a body resembling a goblin was a Quasit from the Abyss.

It had slender limbs with long, sharp claws, and its disgusting green skin was covered in warts and pustules.

As soon as it appeared, it charged at the three of them with incredible speed, like a moth to a flame, launching a reckless and deadly assault.
