Side Story Chapter 170 - Satellite World, Zexal (8)
“You motherf...!!!”
The Duel King shook uncontrollably in rage. Oh Kang-Woo understood how frustrated he likely was but no matter how much he complained, the destroyed [Sea Dragon God Neo-Leviathar] would not return.
“H-How could this have...”
The Duel King could not detect any issues with his Duel Disk no matter how thoroughly he examined it. Since there were no issues with the Disk, there weren’t any issues with the Duel. The Duel would automatically end as the Duel King’s loss if he were to stop it.
“Hehehe. What’s wrong? Do you surrender?” Kang-Woo asked.
“Kurgh,” the Duel King groaned as he frowned.
As the king of Duels and the god of Zexal, the word surrender did not exist in his dictionary.
“Don’t... make me laugh...!” The Duel King ground his teeth as he clenched his fists. “A Duel is never over until one’s Life Points reach zero!!!”
“Is that so?”
Kang-Woo smiled and nodded. He did not want the Duel to end so soon either.
‘I’ve gotta destroy him thoroughly.’
Only then would this world be plunged into despair.
“I summon [Forestkeeper Archer] onto the field. I set one card face down and end my turn.”
Kang-Woo once again summoned a random garbage card and ended his turn.
“DRAW!” the Duel King shouted.
He no longer let his guard down or mocked Kang-Woo just because he summoned garbage cards. He anxiously examined Kang-Woo’s field and pulled a card from his deck.
“This card...”
The Duel King smiled faintly after checking the card. His eyes, which had lost their light after the [Sea Dragon God]’s death, were revitalized.
“Very well. If you want to play that way, so will I!”
The Duel King raised the card he had drawn high.
Fwoosh—!!!
Intense flames raged once he placed the card on his Disk.
“I use [Embers of Calamity]! It allows me to summon [Volcanic God Vulcanus] from my deck after two turns!”
It was a card that guaranteed the summoning of a God Card from the Duel King’s deck; however, instead of requiring three sacrifices, it took two turns to be summoned.
“However—!!!” The Duel King smiled. “The field is a [Forest]!!! The [Embers of Calamity] grows bigger, using the trees as fuel, and allows the two turns to be skipped! [Volcanic God Vulcanus] is summoned right away!!”
Of course, the [Embers of Calamity] has no such effect.
“Man, that’s how you wanna play, huh?”
Kang-Woo’s eyes shone with great interest. The Duel King had judged there was no way to win through regular means and decided to imitate the [Shadow Game] Kang-Woo was playing. If Kang-Woo were to argue against the Duel King’s logic, it would contradict everything Kang-Woo had done until now. In other words, the Duel’s immersion would be broken.
‘Even so...’
If Kang-Woo acknowledged the Duel King’s logic, a God Card would be summoned into the field with no restrictions.
‘Damn, I guess he’s not a complete idiot.’
It was a magnificent counterattack, using Kang-Woo’s groundless logic against him.
“Embers of Calamity! Burn everything to ashes!!!”
Fwoosh—!!!
The flames grew bigger as they engulfed the [Forest].
“Come forth, Incarnation of Fire!!! Descend onto my domain and devour the earth!!!” The Duel King smiled in contentment and extended his right arm. “I summon [Volcanic God Vulcanus]!!”
Crack—!!!
The ground split open and scorching magma covered the land like the tongue of a voracious demon. All but ash remained of the forest where the [Volcanic God] resembling a tortoise appeared on the field.
GWOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
An ear-splitting roar shook the entire field.
“Hahaha!!! [Volcanic God Vulcanus] summoned through [Embers of Calamity] has its Attack Points boosted by eight thousand on its summoned turn!”
It was powerful enough to wipe out the enemy’s Life Points with just one attack.
“And the [Forestkeeper Archer] on your field was caught in the flames and turned to ash!”
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!
The [Forestkeeper Archer] burned to death as it screamed. Of course, [Embers of Calamity] had no effects involving the destruction of monsters on the field. The Duel King was simply making use of the [Shadow Game] more actively.
“With the destruction of your [Forestkeeper Archer], you have no more monsters on the field!!!”
Kang-Woo would be one-shotted if he allowed the [Volcanic God] to damage his Life Points directly.
Fwoosh—!!!
The [Volcanic God] was about to unleash an enormous fire breath.
“Take a good look—!!!” shouted the Duel King as he spread out his arms. “THIS IS MY [DUEL]!!!”
A wave of crimson flames was sent toward Kang-Woo. He smiled coldly as he looked up at the tall tsunami of fire.
‘It’s true. The [Shadow Game] isn’t exclusively for me. It’s all about who can bullshit the best.’
Kang-Woo’s bullshitting did not stop the Duel King from bullshitting back. If both of them were bullshitting, the more advantageous one would naturally be the Duel King, who was infinitely more superior in terms of how powerful their cards were.
‘But...’
Kang-Woo already knew the game wasn’t in his favor. He knew it would be unfair and illogical.
‘Because of that...’
“I ALREADY EXPECTED SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!!”
Kang-Woo had been ready to kill a god from the beginning.
“I activate the Trap Card I had set in my previous turn!”
“A Trap Card...?”
The Duel King stepped back anxiously.
“I activate [Final Struggle]!! I abandon all the cards in my hand to destroy one card on the field!!!”
No one ever used the card since it involved abandoning the cards in their hand. The card which the Entrion had forgotten shone on top of the field.
“KAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! YOU IDIOT!!!” The Duel King burst into ecstatic laughter. “TRAPS HAVE NO EFFECT ON A GOD!!!”
The Duel King was not bullshitting; it was one of the [Volcanic God]’s effects. The Duel King raised the card and pointed at a text.
- All Trap Card effects directed at a god are negated.
“In the end, you were but a lowly mortal who dared to covet the king’s throne!! You lose!!!”
“No.” Kang-Woo smiled coldly and shook his head. “When did I say I was going to destroy the [Volcanic God]?”
“Wh-What?”
Kang-Woo paid no mind to the confused Duel King and pointed upward.
“I USE THE EFFECT OF [FINAL STRUGGLE] TO DESTROY [DEVILISH MOON] SHINING DOWN ON MY FIELD!!!”
“...!!!”
The Duel King’s eyes widened as chills ran down his back.
RUMBLE—!!!
“I-It can’t be, you’re—!!!”
The moon in the sky shattered into pieces. At the same time, the tsunami created by [Sea Dragon God Neo-Leviathar], which had been kept at bay by the moon’s gravitational pull, swept the field.
GWOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!”
“N-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!”
The [Volcanic God] was swept by the tsunami, shattering into pieces and disappearing.
“This is preposterous!!! How can [Devilish Moon] stop a tsunami—”
“Then how can [Embers of Calamity] burn down [Forest]?”
“Th-That’s...!”
The Duel King couldn’t complain since he had also taken advantage of the [Shadow Game].
“Kurgh!!!” The Duel King bit his lip as he trembled.
“Are you done now?” asked Kang-Woo as he placed his hand over the top of his deck.
“No...” The Duel King glared fiercely at Kang-Woo. “IT’S NOT OVER YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!”
The Duel King stomped hard on the ground and shouted, “I ACTIVATE MY TRAP CARD!!!” The card he had set face down on his first turn flipped over. “[FINAL SACRED WAR]!!!”
Whoooom—!!!
Blinding daylight shone on the ashen field.
“This card can only be activated immediately after a God Card is destroyed!! In exchange for banishing all non-God Cards from the deck... I SUMMON ALL THE GODS ON MY FIELD!!!”
[Sea Dragon God Neo-Leviathar] arose from the sea.
[Volcanic God Vulcanus] burned the earth.
[Heavenly God Kallio-Dalius] spread its enormous wings.
The gods of heaven, earth, and sea gathered in one place.
“You won’t get to have a next turn!!!” the Duel King shouted.
He could tell he would continue to be swept along by Kang-Woo’s bullshit if he wasted any more time.
“I WILL KILL YOU ON THIS TURN—!!!”
Rumble—!!!
The gods bellowed simultaneously. A tsunami, a wave of fire, and a raging storm were shot toward Kang-Woo.
“Yeah, I probably won’t have a next turn.” Kang-Woo smiled amidst his imminent demise. He remarked with certainty, “Because I’ll win on this turn.”
Kang-Woo extended his arm as he smiled mockingly.
The Duel King glared at Kang-Woo and shouted, “BULLSHIT!!! YOU HAVE NO CARDS TO PLAY AND YOUR FIELD IS EMPTY!!! HOW WILL YOU STOP MY GODS’ ATTACKS?!”
“Yeah. As you say, I have no cards to play and my field is empty. But, I still have the card I had set face down on my first turn!!!”
“...!!!”
“I ACTIVATE MY TRAP CARD!!!”
Crackle—!!
Blue sparks flew as the card was flipped.
“[DISCHARGE]!!!”
“Discharge...?”
The Duel King stared at Kang-Woo incomprehensibly.
“A tsunami engulfed the burning earth.”
“So what...?”
“You don’t understand? If water is suddenly poured on the scorching hot earth,” Kang-Woo replied as he pointed upward. “It creates a massive amount of water vapor, which condenses to form a cloud.”
CRACKLE!
Sparks formed within the massive cloud.
“And do you know what the discharge within a cloud brings about?”
“N-No way, you’re not—”
“Yeah.”
The Duel King’s eyes widened. An uneasy feeling swept his mind like a tsunami. There existed [Forbidden Cards] which were banned in Duels because they were too strong. Forbidden cards were stronger and more overpowered than the hundreds of thousands of cards. There was one among them which was so strong that it could destroy the entire field without any restrictions—
“It brings about [LIGHTNING]!!!”
Crackle!!! CRACKLE—!!!
Blue lightning that could burn the entire world to a crisp, shone.
“N-No...”
The Duel King stretched out his trembling arms. His all-powerful gods felt like lowly monsters in the face of absolute disaster.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!”
“Now...” Kang-Woo slurred as he spread out his arms.
RUMBLE—!!!
The blue natural disaster wiped out everything on the field.
“This is what I call a [Duel].”
