Chapter 64: New Dawn Headquarters
Boran thought for a moment. "Everything's good, but don't we need a meeting place?"
"What do you mean?"
"You know, a place where we can talk to people who want to join the guild and organize guild activities," he said and looked at the screen in front of him for a while longer. "Wait a minute..."
Boran noticed a "Go to Guild Building" button on his screen. He studied it carefully before mentioning it to Noemi.
"Hey, there's something interesting here," said Boran, keeping his eyes on the screen. "A button appeared: it says 'Go to Guild Building.'"
Noemi looked at her own screen curiously. "Oh yes! It was there as small text in the corner, we missed it," she said in surprise.
Boran pressed the button without hesitation. Suddenly, the world around them blurred, and they found themselves in a spacious, high-ceilinged room. This was the New Dawn Guild Building. At first glance, the space, which was about the size of a medium-sized retail store, had a minimal yet impressive design.
The room's walls were made of a smooth material in light gray tones. Crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling illuminated the space with soft light. Large windows running along the walls allowed outside light to filter through.
The floor was covered with dark wood-look parquet, and in the center of the room, a large circular area was emphasized with a carpet. The guild's logo was embroidered on this carpet: a flower motif blooming behind a rising sun.
There was a small reception desk beside the entrance door. In one corner of the room stood a long table. Chairs were arranged around the table that could comfortably seat fifteen people.
A large screen panel hung on the opposite wall. This panel would presumably be used to display important information such as announcements, mission boards, and guild rankings. Next to the screen, elegant lockers were lined up where guild members could store their personal belongings.
In another corner of the room was a small relaxation area. There were comfortable armchairs, several sofas, and low coffee tables. This area was designed as a space where guild members could rest.
Another striking feature of the space was the empty frames hanging on the walls. These frames seemed to be waiting as places to display future achievements and awards.
Boran and Noemi stood in the center of the room, looking around in amazement. This space was exactly what they needed — neither too flashy nor too simple, functional yet impressive guild building.
"Amazing," said Noemi, slowly turning around her axis. "Is this really ours?"
Boran nodded affirmatively. "Yes, it seems this will be the headquarters of New Dawn Guild. Though it's empty now, we'll soon fill it with memories and achievements."
A spiral staircase in one corner of the room led to the upper floor. However, the upper floor appeared to be inaccessible for now. New areas would likely open up as the guild's level increased.
The room's acoustics were also notable. Conversations could be heard clearly, but without creating disturbing echoes. The ceiling height was about four meters, and this height added a spacious feel to the place.
"This is much better than I thought," said Boran, walking toward the conference table.
Noemi sat in one of the chairs in the relaxation area. "And it's also a great place just to hang out."
As Boran scanned the room with his eyes, he noticed a striking door on the right wall. Above the door was the same motif as on the carpet — a flower blooming behind a rising sun, but this time with an elegant crown motif above the sun.
"What's this?" Boran muttered as he approached the door. When he turned the doorknob, he found himself in a new room. Though smaller than the main hall, it immediately drew him in with its impressive atmosphere. The approximately 30-square-meter space was intimate yet commanding. The walls, unlike those in the main hall, were covered with dark wood panels, giving the room a warm, formal atmosphere.
In the center of the room stood a large desk. Behind the desk was a high-backed black leather office chair. The guild's logo was embroidered on the wall behind the chair.
In front of the desk were two comfortable visitor chairs for meeting guests. These chairs were upholstered in dark green velvet and had gold-colored metal legs. A low table stood between the chairs.
A bookshelf running along the left wall of the room reached up to the ceiling. The shelves were empty for now but would fill up over time. A small ladder stood in front of the bookshelf to facilitate access to the upper shelves.
There was a large window on the right wall. Instead of showing the outside view, the window presented a constantly changing virtual image — sometimes a peaceful forest scene, sometimes a bustling city silhouette, sometimes a night sky filled with stars. He could manually change this image using the buttons next to the window.
In one corner of the room was a small bar unit. It only contained glasses for now. He could eventually stock this unit, which could be used during long meetings, with things he liked to drink.
On the desk sat a tablet specifically for the guild leader's use. This tablet was for managing all guild operations, checking member status, and organizing missions.
Boran sat in the chair behind the desk and ran his hands over the smooth surface of the desk. "This is it..." he murmured, "this will be the true heart of New Dawn."
Noemi entered the room behind him. She looked around silently for a while.
"Is this your room?" Noemi asked, approaching the window. The view in the window was slowly changing — from a sunset-lit beach scene to a verdant valley.
Boran nodded. "Looks like it," he said, leaning back slightly in the office chair. "The Guild Leader's office. Now we can conduct interviews here for prospective guild members."
Noemi sat in one of the velvet-covered visitor chairs. "The furniture is very high quality," she said, examining the chair's armrest. "Everything has been thought through."
"Yes," said Boran. He touched the tablet on the desk and a holographic screen appeared in the air. "Look, we can manage all guild operations from here. Member applications, mission assignments, event planning, guild upgrades..."
Noemi leaned forward to examine the details on the holographic screen. "This is really impressive."
Boran smiled. "It seems it will be easier than I thought. I'll invite applicants here."
"And all these interviews will take place here," said Noemi, looking around again. "This place is perfect for that purpose. What about the spiral staircase upstairs? Will we gain access to that too?" Noemi asked curiously.
"New areas will open up as the guild level increases," said Boran. "That'll be motivation for us. The more we work, the more development we'll see."
"So, when is our first interview?" Noemi asked excitedly.
"Now," said Boran with a smile.
Boran closed the screen on his desk and leaned back. "I'm thinking about something..." he said, looking out the large window in the room.
"What is it?" asked Noemi, still sitting in her velvet chair.
"I want to keep my identity secret," said Boran. "I need to hide my face."
Noemi frowned. "Why such an interest in privacy?"
"I just... don't want anyone to know who I am," Boran replied, turning slightly in his chair.
"But why? As a guild leader, isn't it important for people to know and trust you?"
Boran took a deep breath. "I just... want to make a fresh start. If this guild grows, I want people to think of me not as Boran, but as an image. Just a symbol of innovation and growth."
"How will you do that? I mean, how will you hide your face?"
Boran brought his hand to his chin, with a thoughtful expression. "Maybe a mask... or a hood..."
"Mysterious guild leader," said Noemi, laughing slightly. "Sounds interesting, but wouldn't that be a bit... distant? People might find it untrustworthy."
"On the contrary," said Boran, "this mystery might attract more people. Think about it, an invisible leader... someone who exists only through their actions and decisions. And I won't lie, it sounds cooler this way. I am the leader of New Dawn, and what matters is not who I am, but what I do. This actually aligns with the guild's core philosophy: Everyone can make a fresh start, everyone can change and grow."
Boran carefully scanned the notification on the screen, a slight expression of excitement appearing on his face. "We just got a new message from our potential members," he said, checking the text on the screen again. "I had told them we could meet if they wanted. Now they're saying they're waiting for the guild invitation."
